HOLLOWAY to Walsall? NOPE!

According to 2 journo colleagues in the West Midlands today, Ian Holloway is expected to be appointed Walsall Manager within the next few days. The Walsall Chairman had lined up 2 possible names to replace Money until he heard (yesterday) that Holloway was on the point of agreeing departure terms with Mandaric. The impending Walsall selection has been put on hold until talks can be held with Holloway (ie his release from Leicester) - and, if all goes well he should be appointed next week.

Why would Holloway do that when he could probably still walk into a Championship job if he was sacked? Doesn't add up for me.

Read somewhere else that Wlasall were all set to anounce the new manager and someone else applied. On a wycome forum they thought it was Lambert but maybe its holloway.

He's been linked with them a few weeks back.

Was in the sunday papers the day before the meeting with Milan.

If this were to happen would be the best outcome for all parties, I could see Mandaric waive his right to compensation to for the simple fact he would save a huge amount on sacking him.

I dont see it happening though.

What makes you think he could manage a championship side.

Exactly.

He'll take a long time to recover from his failure with us, if indeed he ever does.

The fact that he made a small club like Plymouth play-off contenders?

Just a thought, like.

Walsall will go up if this happens and we will be stuck in mid-table.

I can see it now.

Walsall might be good enough to go up in spite of Holloway but I don't see the bloke having a personality transplant and there's nothing in his managerial record anywhere that suggests he's a miracle worker.

Besides, his test won't be getting Walsall or anyone else up from Division One - I'd back myself with a good few bob to do that as I'd back any number of others. The test will be taking them forward at Championship level.

Either way, we'll be well rid. Look at what he's achieved here, the sheer embarrassment he's brought on us..

You don't get prizes for being play-off contenders. What's he ever won as a manager? Very little. He had one promotion with QPR as runners-up (to small club Plymouth!) after first taking them down to the third tier for the first time in 34 years (something of a habit he seems to have!).

His win percentage was below 30% both at Plymouth and at Leicester, considerably down on his spells at Bristol Rovers and QPR suggesting he copes more easily at a lower level than at Championship level which doesn't surprise me having seen some of his cautious tactics, his strange team selections and baffling in-game decision making during his spell here.

Neither does your statement
