For those voting Tory can I ask why? What particular Tory policies appeal to you? Or is it just that you want to see a change?

Also, were you old enough to appreciate what life was like under the previous Tory government?

Don't really fancy a political debate this morning... but...

I'd vote initially Tory as I was brought up in Rutland, a Tory stronghold. First of all, Labour have completely and utterly lost it. It is not just the media having a go at them. It has become apparent that they have made an utter mess of the economy mainly due to overspending.

Torys - sure they don't have many detailed policies right now but I do think that is a deliberate move on their part to allow Labour's reputation to toally diminish then they can start upping the pressure a bit because Labour won't have a leg to stand on.

To be honest they now have the potential that Labout had in 1997 and I think they'll be much similar to them (ie very middle) than to the old Tory party.

Aren't both parties just as shit as each other, with the current climate the way it is, without 'radical' changes, we'll still be in the shit?????

What was life like? How was the England of John Major and Margaret Thatcher so much worse? And what is the difference between the poll tax and the council tax plus all Brown's additional stealth taxes.

In fact why are we paying more tax than we've ever paid before?

And why is our petrol tax so much higher than eveyone else in Europe?

I can long remember Labour governments way before the last tories and they all seemed to have one thing in common - their enthusiasm for spending your money.

England in my view is a shitheap now compared to the 60s and 70s. It's little wonder so many young people are leaving.

Are they? Where are they going?

A low turn out in this poll

As for labour they seem to have adopted the worst excessives of the Tory politicians, number one first, I'm all right jack and have turned their backs on the poorer, not just money poor people in society.

Mind you the definition of poor seems somewhat bizarre.

All party politics stinks.

Yep. I myself am considering leaving this place for Canada. Honestly what is there to keep me here.

Because we use it to pay for free healthcare? :dunno:

Nope, because public sector money is not spent effectively. There is no competition so no incentive to be efficient. Other than that there are the huge capital outlays on projects like the olympics and the dome.

This talk of the NHS is reminding me of a module I did last year on "Industrial Relations".

I'm getting out while I still can!

I've been floating through the tank of Politics, slowly sinking to the bottom. Although I spent most of my life voting Labour, I have lost all faith in all parties and most individual politicians.

I've decided I am pissed off with my MP and I don't want to vote for any of the alternatives. There are so few politicians I retain respect for and a load of them are now in the Upper House.

So, bollocks to the lot of it. I'll not be voting - self-serving cockmunchers the lot of 'em.
