Tilley Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Bloody Hell, I wasn't expecting this today, Paul Lambert anyone
The Reverend Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Along the lines of what Collymore says, I think it's baffling when Mandaric hands new managers three year contracts when we've barely had one here six months in his reign yet. Give somebody a 1-2 year contract so they have to fight for a new one I say. Bit of a catch 22 for milan though i feel. He gives a manager a 1 year contract, he gets us up and some Premiership side snaps him up. He guves them a 3 year contract, they do shit, and he has to pay it off! I wouldnt like to be Mandaric, thats all i ll say. So, do we go for a manager experienced in this league? The Championship? Or someone with Premier League experience? Incredibily tough call for Mandaric now to be honest, his biggest appointment by far.Personally, I'd like young and hungry. Someone willing to bring in new ideas and a new ethic to the side. It was refreshing what we had with Allen, it felt like we were moving as a club. I want that feeling back. I think we need a mix. A young up and coming, who has been around this level and done well for a few seasons. Thats my view.

It was refreshing what we had with Allen, it felt like we were moving as a club. I want that feeling back. Exactly, I don't want to go back to the Allen saga but with Allen I just saw the club in a new light, more exciting, more happier (Although from what i've heard and it's pretty obvious now, inside the club maybe not so happy with him there), more connected, e.t.c, (Since MON) No manager before or since Allen has excited me and gave me more optomisum. I also want that back, as I said i'd be excited by Grayson I think, before I saw this statement I hadn't really even thought who i'd want should Holloway go but the moment I saw the statement I made my mind up - Grayson.

Guest Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Personally, I'd like someone with a good rack - someone who'd look good in a photo-shoot clasping their bazooms under a T-shirt made wet in a shower. Actually, I've changed my mind and the above is definitely the type of manager we should go for. That way, even when we're still playing hoofball next season at least there'll be something good to look at
Tilley Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Oh, & imo, We have more chance of keeping our players now! IF the new manager wants them.
Simi Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 So we need an experienced, young manager, with a secure, short-term contract.Brilliant. No, Flynny. A Rolling contract. Rolling.
Joe. Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 At least we won't have the EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE policy anymore hopefully.
lildave3 Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Franck Rolling Bloody hell, you're getting predictable these days! Wait a minute, you're not TPH?!
The Reverend Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 So we need an experienced, young manager, with a secure, short-term contract.Brilliant. Couldn't of said it better myself Flynny! But seriously, you know what i mean, we need a young enthusiastic manager who has been around L1 for a season or two and has done relatively well at a lower club. Preferably on about an 18 month contract!
Thracian Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Celebrating may be a tad early considering you don't know the replacement yet - and it could be far worse than what we've just got rid of. I'm getting my celebrating in early, just in case!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Bloody hell, you're getting predictable these days!Wait a minute, you're not TPH?! Just Manwell for the lift on Sunday then?
Simi Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Just Manwell for the lift on Sunday then? Any chance I could sneak in, mate?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 To all the people saying we should give a one-year contract; It really isn't that simple. What is most attractive about us is the money we can offer. We wouldn't get anyone of any calibre on a one-year contract.
Flynny Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Couldn't of said it better myself Flynny! But seriously, you know what i mean, we need a young enthusiastic manager who has been around L1 for a season or two and has done relatively well at a lower club. Preferably on about an 18 month contract! Yeah I do know what you mean. Apologies for the thick layer of sarcasm. No, Flynny.A Rolling contract. Rolling. Yeah but when that expires we'll be fucked.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 came a bit out of the blue (with regards to it happening today, not generally) I was all for a bit of stability myself Having said that, I don't think he was the right man for the job & he had been shite so far I just hope we get the right man this time & not another screw-up. Oh yeah, I hope he lasts maybe a whole season as well. Those were the days. At least we can all get back to worrying about the club now & not bickering about the manager (until the next appointment anyway)
General Smuts Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 I go to work for 4 hours and i come home to this and a phone thats exploded for texts! Seems the Holloway Fence has burnt itself down then. Meh!
Ultra Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Grayson's taken Blackpool as far as they can go. Even next season their crowds will barely be half of ours. I'd be very pleased if Mandaric appointed him.
DanTheFox07 Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Joe Royle is the person I'd choose. There are others I'd quite accept. Ince obviously but that has to be a long shot. Simon Grayson knows our club and has showed he can get out of our division and survive in the Championship on limited resources. Mike Newell and Dave Penney might be worthwhile gambles. But I doubt Mandaric is an easy man to please and get along with. He seems to like experience and someone with a history of having been there and done it. Joe Royle fits the bill. Like Newell he's an ex-forward who knows the value of scoring goals and playing the sort of football people want to watch. It's time we had an ex-attacker in charge. And one who has known genuine success. If we do go up he's had the experience of the higher levels we aspire to. And I believe he'd deal properly and effectively with the young players. Finally, having been out of the game a while he might have recharged his batteries and be keen on another challenge. Im disappointed that after weve been through u would say joe royle is the man to take us forward, we need someone who is attacking minded and has new fresh idea`s! Id throw fergie`s son Into the picture, done wonders at peterborough! link`s with united are gonna put us in a good position to get there players on loan for example danny welbeck! Im dreading Steve McLaren being touted as a potential successor to holloway! as i dont rate him as a manager. Paul Lambert as some people have mentioned simply Won`t do! I think anyone who thinks he`s good enough is having a laugh, Managed inferior smaller clubs and as so many people have mentioned we need a character that will be able to deal the expectation on his shoulders, I think he would be tatically inept too. You have to look at how most successful team`s work and look at our history when we had our man o`neil we need a motivator first and foremost! because where u all go on about holloway being poor u can`t say after a season with how many managers weve been through and then put it down to one man without blaming our players too. This is down to lack of motivation and poor tatics, so we need a first team coach and A motivator! The only man that strikes me as a motivator is Paul Ince, can you imagine players being scared of under performing and then knowing ud face his wrath! We need to get tough at this club and for the players to start wearing the shirt and play for something, have a bit of passion. Im not gonna accept people like joe royle and the peter reid`s of this world who are not right for this club! Time for manadaric to start living up to all his talk of not making the same mistake again....... Get the right man in!!! whatever the cost!
