davieG Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 Today's People LEICESTER WANT DAVIES AS BOSS Billy Davies will talk to Leicester City about becoming their new boss this week - at the third time of asking. The out-of-work Scot is meeting chairman Milan Mandaric about the vacancy at the League One club, who have been trying to get him for a year. Davies was close to joining the Foxes after getting Derby promoted, and again during the season, but now his time may have come. He has told friends he would 'take Leicester to the top flight in three seasons' if he gets the job.

Ashley Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 I would like this to be true, we'll have to wait and see.
Babylon Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 You've got to be happy with Davies, proven record... ok not the most exciting football (hence thracians post) but you can't argue against his record at Derby and Preston.
Tilley Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 According to that Derby fan who posts on here, He has agreed to join us twice before, but we chose others over him, I hope, if, he agrees to join us, we dont turn him down again.
Babylon Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 According to that Derby fan who posts on here... I stopped reading at that point!!
Tilley Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 I stopped reading at that point!! Yeah, sorry, it is Sunday morning, Forgive me
Corky Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 I wouldn't be upset to see him come here. He is a good manager and I believe he would do well here, given the chance.
FoxesRoyal Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 My dad got a message from someone inside LCFC (apparently) that Billy Davies is going to be next Leicester manager. I don't know if that is complete bull, but, i personally wouldn't mind Billy Davies as manager. It has been in some papers that Billy Davies will be in talks with mandric this week so hopefully we will have a new manager by the end of the week. Billy davies would be the right man to take us up in the premiership and probaly keep us up there as we have got more youth coming up than derby had.
Simi Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 I stopped reading at that point!! He's a decent lad. Good track record for stuff like that.
smokey Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 Billy davies is a very good shout And remember his assistant is an ex player too! Good old David "Ned" Kelly!
Thracian Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 You've got to be happy with Davies, proven record... ok not the most exciting football (hence thracians post) but you can't argue against his record at Derby and Preston. Good luck to the bloke if he comes. We seem eternally destined for dour anyway.
MPH Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 He'll bring loads of Scottish players here again like Levein did! Nooooooo!!!! for every MDV there was a kisnorbo that came down with him.
Number 6 Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 Good luck to the bloke if he comes. We seem eternally destined for dour anyway. are you a glass half empty kind of guy by any chance?
Thracian Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 are you a glass half empty kind of guy by any chance? I imagine I'm like many stalwart fans who've had their natural optimism frustrated to such a degree in recent seasons that they've become cynical almost as a form of self-protection. The sooner I can sit back and appreciate a manager and a Leicester City side playing football and scoring goals again the happier I'll be and the sooner that special Barbar's glass will be overflowing.
Candidcamera Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 Watching the play off game today highlights an important point that City would do well to take notice of. Playing the passing game will always surpass the long ball merchants. I think we need a good young manager who will look at what we have got and turn it into a passing game. The chance is there for someone to shape a new era. Going for Billy Davies is to me going in the same direction as we have taken for the last 4 years.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric will hold talks with former Derby boss Billy Davies about becoming the next manager of the Foxes. (Daily Telegraph) 26/05/08
MrCrowley Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 He'll bring loads of Scottish players here again like Levein did! Nooooooo!!!! You mean like Ally Mauchlen, Gary Mac,Kev MacDonald,Ian Wilson etc etc
Uncle Monty Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 I'd love Ince to come, but i think there's more chance of avram coming than ince. I think Davies would be a very good appointment
MikeyT Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 You mean like Ally Mauchlen, Gary Mac,Kev MacDonald,Ian Wilson etc etc Whats your point? haha
MrCrowley Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 Whats your point? haha Just that they aint all bad and no Im not from Scotland
karllcfcfox1 Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 My dad got a message from someone inside LCFC (apparently) that Billy Davies is going to be next Leicester manager. I don't know if that is complete bull, but, i personally wouldn't mind Billy Davies as manager. Billy Davies is the only choice for me, a top manager with a good track record and it would be a good bet that David Kelly would follow him as number two and if we can retain Gerry Taggart that would be three ex-city players to get our great club back on track.
Frenzied Posted 26 May 2008 Posted 26 May 2008 I reckon Davies is up there with the best of the realistic candidates. He did a great job at Preston and did well at the sheep under what ended up being difficult circumstances.
