FoxesTalk 5-a-side Tournament

Recommended Posts

Looking at the Cobblers friendly thread, it seems we're getting more and more people interested in these forum games.

To ensure that everyone gets a fair chance of playing in future games, maybe a FoxesTalk 5-a-side tournament could be arranged?

If for example we get 25 people interested, then we could split in to 5 different teams and play the tournament in a group format.

It may be a tad ambitious and a bit difficult to organise, but it could be something worth considering.

Thoughts?

When I've done this before we had:

5 Teams of 6 people including 1 sub = 30 people

Round Robin where each team plays the other = 10 games

10 games x 15 minutes + 5 minutes for change over = 3hrs 20 minutes

3 points for a win top

If time permits top 2 teams play off

Total time 3.5 - 4 hrs.

If you've got 2 pitches you can half the time or double the entries or a bit of both.

Or something along those lines :dunno:

Give Goals a ring, they organise all this. They will do all the hard work and quote you a price. Work out the price per man and if it's good, go for it. They'll do it like a corporate tournament. You'll have a neutral ref, trophies etc. Failing Goals, give the FA pitch at Judgemeadow a try. Although our relationship with Goals is hardly at tops atm (robbing barstools). I fail to see why Foxes Trust didn't do this - their excuse of not having enough refs could have easily been solved by playing at either venue.

Saves the hassle - you just have to turn and play. Saturdays and Sundays during the day are dead up there.

From TBFC's 5-a-side captain and 11-a-side centre half.

Thats a really good idea, but how would teams be done? Random drawing or otherwise? Each has flaws.

If people want to give me their names and preferred positions I'll do a seeded ( based on positions) draw for you. Guaranteed to be fair and neutral.

Unless I pay you, right? :D

Good idea actually.

Well up for it.

Could hire out st Margarets for that length of time i think.

Best way to divide teams either, make ur own between friends, or randomly draw them out.

If you get this sorted but are struggling for a final team, give us a shout on TB, we could lob a team in as well to make up the numbers.

Perhaps every team should include one lady, not a token one either.

That rules me out then. :(
