I agree. I think the difficulty is that capital is so mobile nowadays - it completely erodes the ability of states to do exercise proper control given that there will always be somewhere willing to be the low/no tax outlier.

Pillar 2 is useful but it’s got such a high threshold. As you say somewhere will always be an outlier in a race to the bottom

Bar lady forgetting my Guinness mid pour. Happened at least 3 times at my local. Do first pour, walk off get distracted never to be seen again. Have to ask someone else to finish it off.

And Angela Rayner says you shouldn't be able to buy yourself into government.

+ Lord Ali of course.

Seems it's only an issue now.

The hypocrisy is outstanding.

Spot on,  but it's a bit rich for other parties to complain now, after decades of receiving donations.

Just started working as a delivery driver. What grinds my gears is houses that have a name and no number.Went on a new build estate yesterday and none of the houses had numbers, just fancy names. The parcel could have been going to any one of about 60 houses! At least with numbers it gives you something to go on!

Welcome to my world.

I know a cul-de-sac that starts at 8, not because 2, 4 and 6 don't exist, they do, but they're round the corner, as are 10 and 12.

On the same estate there are 3s before 1s and 4s before 2s on 2 roads. Not to mention one road that goes 1, 5, 7, 3. :dunno: Pretty sure the planners were on crack.

The creme-de-la-creme is when there's 3 or 4 houses squeezed behind all the other houses and accessed by a narrow, unassuming driveway that you're going to drive straight past.

In my opinion it should be only private individuals can donate a maximum of £1000 a year or similar. They'd actually have to work for votes on the ground.

You would think what3words or similar would have replaced post codes by now.  Or at least the ability within say Amazon systems to tag the actual house location in your account, or by the driver to make it easier for next time.

Hold on. This doesn't stand up to even the briefest bit of scrutiny.

PWC, Grant Thornton? All of the big four accountancy firms have always had lots of government contracts and always will, there's no causal link between donations and looking at these sorts of numbers.

Microsoft? Windows is universally used pretty much everywhere obviously they have contracts, you cannot seriously say because public sector computers are running windows that's evidence of malfeasance, as if somebody else was ever getting those contracts.

No idea about the other examples but the existence of those on the list, and just the nature of the list itself, doesn't provide anything other than an attempt to smear without providing any actual evidence of anything.

Now don't get me wrong, I think we need to find a way to fund politics that doesn't require companies or individuals putting up cash that will clearly lead to them getting something in return, I'm just saying what you've put up doesn't show this.

At the bottom of the little estate type thing we live on there's three properties that randomly don't follow the normal rising number order of the rest of the place, and instead go 22, 24, 23. Weird.

Might be worth downloading the delm8 app if you can afford it...

No, that would involve investment and planning, don't be daft!
