It's fairly average as a town (by national standards) and by standards of the south lancashire/north cheshire area - it's reasonably affluent compared to other towns of similar standard. I mean it's no better or worse than a lot of places, including Leicester (and yes I have spent time in Leicester having friends and family there). To call it a toilet is what is depressing really. And don't forget even Poyton and Macclesfield has it's grotty and depressing parts.
