Is that a poor attempt at wit?

If not, you are a moron.

you're not really leaving him a big win either way there horse.

Beaglehole in!!!

Soemone else will take a punt on him, and we'll end up crying into our over-priced soup.

So just because Walsh wasn't initially interested in management when he first retired, he can't have an interest now?

Does anybody know what the role of assistant manager entails? What duties and responsibilities are to be performed? Following on from this, what particular skills does Steve Walsh have that make him particularly well suited to this role?

The no. 2, in many respects is just as vital as the manager. Look at the importance Ferguson places on a good assistant manager, actively looking for the right man (take his scouting of McClaren from Derby) or how United struggled after Queiroz left for a short managerial stint at Real Madrid (before he returned).

The thing is thrac apart from banging a few heads together he's there not as a coach but from the 'clubs perspective he's more of a sweetener for the bitter pill of Gregory and to cover up the fact that Mandaric can't get any one better.

From Gregory's perspective he's there because Gregory knows that he's not universally welcomed and Walsh would act as a barrier to that and to cover his back when he inevitably fails to meet Mandaric's impossible expectations.

Which again leads to question marks over Mandaric and the need to add another wage to our ever burgeoning wage-bill just for the sake of a cheerleader? It's like a big bl00dy circle.

I think I'm at the stage with Steve Walsh where he needs to be put in this position, even though the cards are heavily stacked against him succeeding (lack of experience, knowledge of the job, etc), just so that if/when he fails, we don't ever have to hear again, the words, "How about Walshie for manager? He'll inject some passion back into the lads."

to be fair, from listening to away games on radio leicetser, Walsh didn't really strike me as having a great deal to say tactically.

"I wish i could get me boots on" was pleasing to the ear, but it was funny. not inspiirng. Get Taggs in to shot em up if that's what you want, passion etc.. Walsh for me, is a no no.

Ow yes and Taggart has so much more passion for Leicester City than Walsh.

Football is a simple game complicated by idiots, was that not brian clough who said that? I think theres a lot of woffle talked about tactics. Walshie should be no 2 but to grayson not gregory.

Walsh wants to board the gravy train. If he had any great desire, apart from that, to mould groups of people into great teams he'd have started doing it long ago.

Whoever any of us want isn't really going to come and work with the Madaric...I just think calling for the sacking of the appointment to be a bit pathetic before he's made his first transfer or lost his first match.

I'm way from conviinced that Walsh offers us anything at all - but I simply don't care now, Madaric is obviously not interested in anyone who knows what they are doing (like Grayson).

I agree with you about Walsh's motivation. There's no doubt he needs a job and this'll pay better than radio Leicester.

I wouldn't want him as manager but I can't see that he can do much damage as assistant, who knows he might even turn out to be quite good. I'm prepared to give him a chance.

Walsh as number 2 yes!

We need his passion and maybe he can shake some life into our underpreforming players.

Gregory as boss.

NO NO NO NO

Agree with that

The position of assistant is just as important as manager in my eyes, or at least that's what my boss tells me. lol

I still think any successful team has a good management team, not just a good manager. Ferguson's success at Man Utd has been built alongside the likes of Bryan Kidd, Steve McClaren, Carlos Quieroz. Martin O'Neill always needs his backroom staff. Wenger has Pat Rice, Mourinho had Steve Clarke. The assistant's role is vital.

Speaking of which, Bryan Kidd's out of work.

Sadly that's probably the case....

I'm pretty non-plussed about finding out really, after the last year it could be any focker really and i'd be dispondant. The summer will tell us more.

Hey Davie, I know you have no time for me but come on, since when have we started to believe the moccery.

I have plenty of time for you - I enjoy and have an open mind on all rumours, stories, hearsay etc no matter who posted them.

I've never believed the Mockery since Laurie Simpkin left.

No thanks, as you say coaching staff are about as important as the managers and Kidd's last employment was alongside Bryan Robson and Sheff Utd.

Sorry, should have clarified, I meant, if we're looking to appoint an assistant manager alongside the rumoured future manager Gregory, Kidd is streaks ahead of Steve Walsh.

Shame then Gregory has already said Walsh will be his assistant (thankfully).

Yesterday, I was in a charity shop in my local village, just being boring and guess what I found: Seventh Heaven - Official Leicester City video of full match highlights and behind-the-scenes versus *wait for it* LEICESTER VS DERBY - PLAY OFF FINAL 1994! 50P - BARGAIN! I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES! Like, you would go to the megastore and buy it for £20 but I got the original for 50p lol

Anyway, you may be thinking where this is leading to... But watching Walshy made me realise that he could have the determination to succeed, not always the brains but it's what happens on the pitch that matters and it's the players with the brains (footballing brain - not literally a brain :whistle:lol).

Walsh is what we need (but not as manager)
