Gregory - I'll make Walsh my No 2

According to today's Mockery Gregory has said he's bringing in Walsh as his number two if he gets the job.

That's sounds bloody brilliant.

I can't wait now. This season is going to be the best ever! Oh yeah.

Unfortunately a winning mentality is different to a winning record.

And a winning record is different to a winning mentality.

See "Holloway, Ian" for further reference.

:crylaugh: Everyone is so desperate most of you are now happy with John Gregory, who would've thought!

Well done mate, your basing a manager on your Wikipedia knowledge.

This club's so mad it just may work. After all there's not sanity at LCFC.

Whoever is appointed, whatever their history, no matter which other manager you would have preferred - if we don't get behind the appointment from the off then we really are going to be more fooked than Paris Hilton on a home-made video tape. I'm not throwing out some kind of nebulous call for lobotomised positivity - I just hope that we all put a little thought into the future we create next season in response to the appointment.

;):P

I'm fucked if I can spot any Gregory bashing going on in my previous post.

Im just saying he was pretty much the one person least wanted on here a few days ago

This is true.

But if he's the best of a bad bunch, and you've a trigger happy chairman, what do you expect?

MM and his talk have pretty much scared off most of the quality managers out there.

Whoever comes in, don't judge him on his previous appointments and dwell on the matter, just get behind the man and his team. I don't want us playing sunday league teams for any longer than is necessary.

Walsh as number 2 yes!

We need his passion and maybe he can shake some life into our underpreforming players.

Gregory as boss.

NO NO NO NO

A nice attempt though to take the attention away from the fact that he is awful and noone wants him.

Who fancys starting a Gregory out campaign?

What a fiasco it all is.

And some of the fans are as bad as Mandaric.

As far as I am aware Walsh has no managerial credentials whatsoever.

Any sensible appointment would depend on the battle plan but, guessing that we'll be making far more use of our leading ex-Academy players, you would think it sensible to appoint someone who knows those lads and has shown he can not get winning football out of them while maintaining a happy and positive atmosphere.

That man is Beaglehole.

How Walsh would carry greater weight than Beaglehole I've no idea.

Otherwise, if the team is to be based on experience with a smattering of youth, then there's a case to be made for an experienced man like Joe Royle, Simon Grayson (if persuadable) or Mike Newell.

Not some long-shot, who's spent the years when he might have been managing footballers, engaged in some golfing enterprise instead.

In the words of John McEnroe: "You cannot be serious!"

Excellent Post Thracian!!

I have been saying the exact same thing about Walshy for ages but i cant put it as well as you!

He wasnt interested in Management when in spain for 5 years, if he was why didnt he do his badges or try coaching kids or non league!!!

So just because Walsh wasn't initially interested in management when he first retired, he can't have an interest now?

I didnt say that and i hope he is a success!....... Bit strange though how since he has been on the radio and in the mercury suddenly he thinks hes the man who can sort us out!

Saying that, i have a strange feeling, as much as i hate John Gregory i do think he could get us Promoted next year!

The thing is thrac apart from banging a few heads together he's there not as a coach but from the 'clubs perspective he's more of a sweetener for the bitter pill of Gregory and to cover up the fact that Mandaric can't get any one better.

From Gregory's perspective he's there because Gregory knows that he's not universally welcomed and Walsh would act as a barrier to that and to cover his back when he inevitably fails to meet Mandaric's impossible expectations.

I agree with Thracian.

Frankly I'd almost be willing to let Beaglehole have a run at the Manager job never mind Assistant givent he alternatives.
