Zingari Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Walsh in some capacity would be ok, but Travis Bickle can fook off
SussexFox Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 He had a better win% at Aston Villa than Martin O'neil currently does.....
Asha Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 He had a better win% at Aston Villa than Martin O'neil currently does..... Fu ck me. Never heard that one before.
Father Ted Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 He had a better win% at Aston Villa than Martin O'neil currently does..... But in the future MON will only get better and beat his stat.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Just like Taggart and Megson last year That's unfair... there's a big difference between being a failure (Gregory) and simply being boring as fuck (Megson).
Father Ted Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 That's unfair... there's a big difference between being a failure (Gregory) and simply being boring as fuck (Megson). Although Megson has proven he can grind out the results but at a cost... boring football!
teblin Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 That's unfair... there's a big difference between being a failure (Gregory) and simply being boring as fuck (Megson). I meant the sweetner of walsh rather than the fact 1 can get results and the other is just crap.
lookwhaticando Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I meant the sweetner of walsh rather than the fact 1 can get results and the other is just crap. I took it on the whole - the sweetener + the failure. I do agree with the sweetener aspect, though.
Babylon Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 The final moves of the LCFC / JG Public relations team. Leicester City legend Steve Walsh would be appointed No.2 to John Gregory if he lands the manager's job. The Leicester Mercury can reveal that a close associate of Gregory confirmed the approach to Walsh. The former City skipper would relish the opportunity to become assistant to the former Aston Villa and Derby manager, if he was appointed successor to Ian Holloway at the Walkers Stadium. "Steve (Walsh) has held discussions with John Gregory, who has been interviewed by Milan Mandaric," said the source. "John was hoping to get some news at the start of the week from Milan, but he is still waiting to hear from him. "But I can say that, if John is successful, he will make Steve his assistant and then ensure that he goes off to get all the necessary qualifications. "Steve may not have the badges, but he has the ability and will draw on his experience. It will be a great opportunity for Steve because he thought his chance had gone when he was not previously considered for the job." Walsh was not prepared to discuss the development, but has made no secret of the fact that he would welcome the chance to manage the club one day. Last November, he threw his hat into the ring as City sought to appoint a successor to Gary Megson after he moved to Premier League Bolton. Walsh said at the time: "If I have been criticised, it tended to be because of my lack of qualifications. "It's a fair point - I don't have them - but don't let anyone think I wouldn't be capable of doing the job. "I know I am somewhat of a risk to Milan but, with my football acumen and ambition - let alone my passion and drive for Leicester City - I can bring back the good times."

John Gregory well I never! If you are bringing Walshy in as number 2 then welcolme friend
Zingari Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 The video's been available for a week! looks like gregory is already skulking off somewhere
blue blood Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 so what happens to taggart? why the hell not bring back steve claridge too. although he may need alift in to work but im sure walsh can arrange that. no no even better idea wy not employ matt elliot as walsh's assistant!
lavrentis Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 This situation is a bitch. JG and SW. I don't know.
Jack Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 It'll be the same situation as Megson and Taggart. When everything is going wrong Gregory will get the stick and when all is fine and dandy Walsh will get the praise.
Daggers Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Woohoo! Promotion glory for sure. I can't see this ending any other way that downright successful....especially as this piece of stage-managed PR is probably the best I have ever seen. *Some opinions contained in this post may be deliberately misleading

I'm not throwing out some kind of nebulous call for lobotomised positivity - I just hope that we all put a little thought into the future we create next season in response to the appointment.

To be honest I don't care. Get Walshy in, f**k it. This club gets called a circus, we may as well continue living up to the name.
Tilley Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I've been ripping Mr Gregory to shreads, on these boards & to friends/family. But, as the League One club we are, we won't actually get much better. McLaren, Allardyce, Davies, could all manage at Championship/Premiership level, so they will not come here. If Gregory does come here, lets not treat him the way we treated Megson, lets support him, & whatever eleven players go out onto the field, IF things do go wrong, then moan. But lets not judge on reputation, if he is the man to take over, then lets support the 'dream team.' We all come on here because we support and love Leicester City, lets do that next season if Gregory or anyone is in charge. Rant OVER ps. Im worse than anyone
Uncle Albert Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Good on you Walshy! John Gregory well I never! If you are bringing Walshy in as number 2 then welcolme friend Agreed Kilworth/Unbeatable.
MikeyT Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 I feel as sick as a bastard. Ah that well known saying "sick as a bastard".
Master Fox Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 What's happening? Who's saying what now? Fill me in.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 June 2008 Posted 19 June 2008 Ah that well known saying "sick as a bastard". And when it all goes wrong, Walshy's reputation goes down in flames. Please prove me wrong.
