Daggers Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Someone remind me of classic Sunday Mirror lies. Quick.
The People's Hero Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 If Steve Mclaren is our next manager I will wear a Steve Mclaren mask to every away game. That'll do for me.
Phube Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Really... how can Gregory be on ANY sortlist?? It just baffles me. Please tell me this is a joke by DavieG??
davieG Posted 15 June 2008 Author Posted 15 June 2008 Really... how can Gregory be on ANY sortlist?? It just baffles me. Please tell me this is a joke by DavieG?? Unfortunately I don't write for the Sunday Mirror.
Father Ted Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Someone remind me of classic Sunday Mirror lies.Quick. They said that we were going to sign Carl Cort
davieG Posted 15 June 2008 Author Posted 15 June 2008 Monday, 13 November, 2000, 12:32 GMT Aston Villa's disenchanted supporters have promised to continue protesting until chairman Doug Ellis and his board of directors support manager John Gregory with cash for new players. Before Saturday's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, almost 15,000 supporters joined "The Villa People's Lobby" in holding pound signs up in a show of dissent against the board. The group believes the demonstration inspired the Villa team to their best performance of the season. But they say the club's current position of fifth in the Premiership will not be sustained without a larger squad of top class players. In a statement released to BBC Sport Online, spokesman Peter Bosworth described Gregory's achievements at the club as "superhuman". Bosworth added: "We will not sit by and watch yet another player, or perhaps a manager, walk through the exit doors claiming that Villa are just incapable of matching his ambition.
Cropwellfox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Just shows what a complete laughing stock this club has become when the only manager wanting the job - i'm now personally convinced it's Gregory - has managed five clubs outside the top division and never managed to get any of them into the playoffs, let alone promoted.... And Mandaric sees wanted a manager with a "Winning Mentality" ???
Babylon Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 And Mandaric says he wanted a manager with a "Winning Mentality" ??? Unfortunately a winning mentality is different to a winning record.

Cropwellfox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Perhaps he was mis-quotedWhining Mental Manager so they can see eye to eye and have the same ambitions. It all suddenly makes sense.... Mad Milan's dodgy accent has led us all a merry dance and we should have been putting our mortage on JG being appointed
smokey Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 I think you're all avoiding the truth of John Gregory! Agree! Think its a done deal!! Cant see anyone else getting it!!
l444ry Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Wonder how many of the "We'd be in administration without Mandaric" brigade will finally come to their senses if John Gregory gets the job. There's nothing quite like a Mandaric managerial appointment to focus the mind.....
StroudFox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 I really hope we don't get Gregory. However, whoever we get, I don't think will really be anybody we want!! I don't think we a re an atractive proposition, despite being such a 'Big!!! Club'.
Lillehamring Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 um, didn't gregory actually have quite a good record with villa; the other teams he managed were, quite frankly, shit - and let's face it doug ellis is actually worse than mandaric... um, that's all i've got...

Steven Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 There are rumours that we might have a last minute reprieve. If Gregory is/was the choice then there may be a hitch. Boc on TB. What if Milan knows who he wants; has told that person that he has been successful; but then that person isn't now sure that he wants the job - that wouldn't be very good, would it?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 There are rumours that we might have a last minute reprieve. If Gregory is/was the choice then there may be a hitch. Boc on TB. I wish I could put myself on holiday until an appointment has been made. Life would be so much better if it was actually like Football Manager.
davieG Posted 15 June 2008 Author Posted 15 June 2008 Some people just don't or wont recognise quality when they see it From a Bentley's Poster to Peter Jones. Dear Mr Jones While I appreciate you are not directly involved in the recruitment policy at Leicester City I am writing to seek clarification on season ticket refunds. I have renewed my season ticket for the upcoming campaign on the understanding that a suitable manager would be in charge, tasked with returning the club to the Championship. If Mr Gregory is appointed then I feel strongly that I have been misinformed by the club as his CV offers no indication what so ever of Mr Gregory possessing the ability to get the team promoted. Indeed his win % at his last two clubs are below that of previous incumbent Ian Holloway. I would therefore like to know if I could be reimbursed the £450 I have paid should the club appoint Mr Gregory. Regards M Smith. Season ticket holder.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Poor Jones. I bet he hopes it's Alex Ferguson in the vain hope that he might not have nutcases writing in to him every two seconds.
Guest Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Poor Jones. I bet he hopes it's Alex Ferguson in the vain hope that he might not have nutcases writing in to him every two seconds. They'd still write in, it'd just be about something different. Like moving the Kop and the Family stand round
Foxhateram Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Shearer! Just thought about it... he's ruled himself out of the Blackburn job but he's said nothing about the Leicester one... Wishful thinking really... even though he may be crap, I'd still have him over Gregory! Shearer is off to sheff wed. says so in the gossip section of the BBC were not big enough for him
