Income on player sales

We should be looking a getting quite a bit of money from selling our so called best players, if nigel pearson is good in the transfer market he has the resources to build a good squad next year

Richard Stearman 1.6 mil apparently

Gareth Mcauley 1.2 was it?

Clemence should get at least 1 mil for him

Hume at least 1 mil again

Mattock id say 750k + for him too

thats over 5 million to spend , if he spends it wisely we could be a real force, we dont need that many players in, We have a good nucleus , a few experienced people e.g. a centre half , and a striker, some back up wingers for porter and gradel also beswick plays there , so id say get 1 winger in, we also have hayes aswell, we need a striker though, howard will go im guessing, Dj will want to go too, Fryatt im unsure , were willing him to do well, but he just cant seem to do it? Hume will go aswell, Hayles will follow holloway, that leaves odihambo , chambers, mckay, sappleton get 2 good league 1 level strikers in and we should be well away

We SHOULD be getting more for Mattock then for Clemence.

Mattock's the most promising of the lot.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

Thats not money to spend thats money to make up for the massive drop in income for the season very little of that will be spent on players imo!!

Would love to be proved wrong though

I'd be happy to get around £2.5-3 million for Mattock.

I can't see us spending more than £1million on players if I'm honest. Most of the money will be used to negotiate the drop in income due to relegation.

Oh well, some of the younger kids still live in LCFC wonderland...

We'll be lucky should Pearson decide to buy one or two new players... from other League One clubs!!!

As Jay has said, most of that transfer dough will be used to compensate all the losses following relegation from the Championship (fewer sponsors, no TV rights, probably a lower gate).

We have to get back up, otherwise it'll turn into yet another financial nightmare.

If Bale and Ramsay go for £5m each then there's no way on this earth we should take less than £3m for Mattock. How there hasn't been more made of him in the press i.e. debut at 16, U/21's at 17, played well in a shite team last term etc, I'll never know

I don't think he's the sort of player who will spearhead a push for promotion, no LB is and he looks a bit lost at LM but we even in the league we're now in we shouldn't be bullied into selling our best players.

I couldn't give a shite about stearman I always remember his constant shite balls loosing of his man etc. before holloway and althogugh he improved I can't see him better than top championship side and £1.6M is a great price.

Mandaric should have a duty to keep our best players to give pearson a chance and in the event that they do go give him the money to improve the squad. I feel the same way about hume as Mattock, our best player for 3 years and your looking at £1M for him!

If transfers like that go through and pearson only relies on frees which i'm very much fearing then MM is clearly re-couping his money lost through the relegation.

Spot on. I want at least £3 million for Mattock, with add-ons and a percentage of his next transfer fee thrown in.

To be honest, if I was at the helm of LCFC, I'd just do the same.

No club owner likes to lose money.

Who does?

good post! :scarf: i agree, i think milan really does only care for the business side of things! i think, if he already doesnt, milan needs to understand pearson might not be able to get us straight back up that doesnt necessarily mean we cant but we ARE going to need to bring some players in but players that see our club as a great club to play for and realise they are going to fight for their place and keep doing so. there were too many players last season who didnt work hard enough as they thought they were too good not to be played and saw our club as a stepping stone to high wages and fame etc! i dont like players that act like they are loyal, hard working and say they will stay but dont (david bell, stearman!!).

im sorry but some of the players dont know how good theyve got it! id play for city for free just to be on that pitch and to look up at the kop and know they are applauding because they love this club as much as i do and i would work my fucuking arse off until my last breath but it seems even the homegrown boys dont even remember those younger days when this was true and how these days those sorts of things have been substitued for wages and reputation!

thanks stearz for trying but like everybody else that played their part last season, it wasnt good enough and instead of wanting to clean up YOUR mess your just doing a runner!! thanks but no thanks! 1.6 mill thnk you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This might unintentionally flush Mandaric's real intentions out. The man is forever spouting how much he's put into the club and professing 3 year plans but how he responds to this cash bonanza is going to be interesting.

Allowing for Kisnorbo's long term injury, a complete back four has been wiped out.

I wouldn't be suprised if it turns out that Pearson was the only manager prepared to come to the club with foreknowledge of Mandaric's transfer plans. And that may explain why he had to appoint what seems to have been his third choice.

20% sell on clause to Tranmere for hume, and seeing as we paid 500k (possibly rose to 750k)... 1.2 Mil, so that means we didnt make a lot on that deal!

So you're saying Mandy's basically said 'we're ambitious but I'm only investing in the squad if we get promoted, deal with it.'

Feasible, not a bad call L444ry

1.5 million is an abslout steal for barnsley, 24 years old! same money for steve howard and he is much better! seem`s to me like mandaric is deffo out to get his money back that he spent? all I can say is Pearson best replace these guy`s with some up and coming talent from other sides in and around us or from abroad, weve already lost our goal threat in Hume so can`t rely on young heads alone to score the goals?

It says £1.2m on Barnsleys website for Hume (Not sure why ours say's undisclosed). Mattock would surely b worth more than 750k. He is the most promising player we have and still has 2.5 yrs left on his contract. If we sold him for 750k i'd be gutted.

A lot of the money we're paid will probably be paid in installments or dependant on conditions. Take away agents fees (and gifts for certain individuals  ) and the £5million figure being bandied about is probably less than £3million.

BOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're out of the game.

That's a bit more like it.

I think the only saving grace here is that I have read numerous places that you lose £1million from relegation to League One. Whether that's actually a realistic figure, who knows? As a bigger club our losses may be more significant than a team like S****horpe or Colchester.

With Mandaric in charge I don't think money is a major issue - the biggest problem is that the pool of players who would want to come to us is now significantly reduced. Take away the players Pearson doesn't want and then the players Mandaric would veto (anyone he hasn't heard of/anyone under the age of 30) and you're down to about 10 names headed up by Jeremy Goss and Paul Rideout.

I'm losing my optimism day-by-day.
