AoWW Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 This time last year I was there. I'm missing Glasto already. Having to be content with the TV coverage. Anyone else think Estelle sounded shite?
Lovejoy Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 I turned down the opportunity to go this year. Partly regretting it, but my bank balance looks much healthier for the missage .
Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Been watching the TV coverage, been really impressed with Kings of Leon. They are a class act. WAS were okay but not really a top festival band IMO. Haven't seen anything else decent yet. Editors are just ****ing irritating.

purpleronnie Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Been listening online, suprised on what a great line up it is, never seen so many bands I wanted to listen to:- Kings of leon, Foals, The Subways, Amy Winehouse, Crowded House, The Verve, Neil Diamond, Reverend and the Makers, The Ting Tings, The Black Lips The Courteneers, Jimmy Cliff, The Levellers, Billy Bragg Problem is they only usually broadcast the crap stuff like - The Feeling, James Blunt, Panic at the Disco, The Hoosiers etc etc

Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Any one know when Jay-Z's on? Headlining tonight so will be on around 10.30pm I'd say.
AoWW Posted 28 June 2008 Author Posted 28 June 2008 Any one know when Jay-Z's on? If you believe the TV listings on sky, supposed to be on BBC3 - live coverage of his complete set - starting 10.30pm tonight.
Jay Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 If you believe the TV listings on sky, supposed to be on BBC3 - live coverage of his complete set - starting 10.30pm tonight. I hope the rumours are true that he is going to come out to the voice of Noel Gallagher slagging him off on radio that will be so funny!! From Radio 5 interviewThe Oasis lynchpin said that it was “wrong” for a hip-hop act to be booked to headline the event in favour of traditional guitar acts who play. The 40-year-old said: "If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. "Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' "I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong." and then Jay Z appears!!
purpleronnie Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 I hope the rumours are true that he is going to come out to the voice of Noel Gallagher slagging him off on radio that will be so funny!!and then Jay Z appears!! How stupid are his comments, so narrow minded. Glasto has so many different types of music, why not have one of the biggest selling stars headline?
Jay Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 How stupid are his comments, so narrow minded. Glasto has so many different types of music, why not have one of the biggest selling stars headline? just a massive massive amount of jealousy on his part I think that they were not begged to do it being the best band in the world and all that
ASH17LCFC Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Noel Gallagher is an arse. Bit more talented though then Jay Z, He's spot on though. Who the fcuk wants to see some wannabe gansta ? You go to see bands or like noel said ... GUITAR MUSIC !!! The Verve will be awesome, Jay z Hope he gets the old bottle of piss thrown at him.

Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 I hope the rumours are true that he is going to come out to the voice of Noel Gallagher slagging him off on radio that will be so funny!!and then Jay Z appears!! Hes not haing it? What the f**k is he going to do about it then?
Matt Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Hes not haing it? What the f**k is he going to do about it then? Not go. No-ones that bothered he isn't going I suppose - Who really cares, but as it has been well publicised Glastonbury figures are down this year, May be a coincidence but may be down to Jay Zed and not a brilliant line-up, Some of Jay Zed's stuff is ok but a whole I don't like it (Personal opinion) and on a whole a good majority of the line-up IMO isn't great (I'm sure I could still make a big list of artists i'd love to see that are there, but equally there are some shockers), it's not just Jay Zed that put me off it's others aswell. I've never been Glastonbury and chances were even if it was different line-up with artists that IMO were good i'd doubt i'd have gone, but you have to question why figures are down this year? Whether on past years? The line-up? Other reasons? Just coincidence?
Simi Posted 28 June 2008 Posted 28 June 2008 Oasis > Jay Zed. Original and very witty. I salute your comical genius. Not go. Again with the Jay Zed stuff? You make it very easy for people to take apart your argument with your clear ignorance to anything that is not some **** playing a guitar. The musical bias on this forum pisses me off no end as well as the ignorance. The "I've never been to Glastonbury" line summaries it quite well. You've never been and sounds like you never will go, so who gives a **** whether it's good for you or not. I bet you'll still watch it. No doubt they'll be some willy puller that wants to boo Jay-Z or something stupid, but I bet there's a large percentage who are looking forward to seeing a a role model for Hip-Hop.

I said I didn't mind some of Jay Z's () stuff, majority of it i'm not keen on though because i'm not keen on that genre of music - I do have a small bit in my record collection though. I do like my "some **** playing a guitar" stuff and the majority of music in my collection is guitar/indie/rock based, however I have a big collection of other stuff, Dance, Bit of D n' B, some hip-hop, rap, e.t.c (Small though), Blues, Country, Reggae, even classical - And many more. I'll give anything a chance. I'd love to go Glastonbury some day. Whether I will is another question, I suppose I need to ask myself the question - How much do I want to go. I probably will watch the coverage - Infact I have already watched the coverage, but as at the festival I will pick and choose - I might even watch Jay Z later - As said I like some of his stuff. All I was saying is you have to question why attendances at the festival are down? Artists? Weather in past years? Coincidence? Other reasons people can come up with?

Attedances could be down for many reasons, I'm not that intersted in it to be honest. Perhaps the fact that the Indie scene is becoming more and more saturated? Perhaps it isn't what it used to be because of how it is run? Weather certainly. I really do not think Jay Z is to blame for the drop in popularity. But if it is, I find that very, very sad and ignorant.
