  1. 1. How do you feel LCFC will perform upon seeing them at Hinkley?

    • Great! Fresh start, good attitude, bring on League one

I know it is still VERY EARLY STAGES on the rebuild. But for those who went to the Hinkley game, is the optimism there? WHAT ARE THE EARLY INDICATIONS OF THE SQUADS ATTITUDE/PERFORMANCE/GENERAL FOOTBALL?

What's with all the upper case?

Much too early to say. 4 weeks to kick off. Possibly lots more ins and outs to come. This is Leicester City FC, anything can happen in the next half hour.

How many times do I/other people need to say it cannot judge or gauge anything from Friendlies, and even if you can certainly not this early, They are for fitness, run-outs, warm-ups, you have two different teams in one half, e.t.c.

We won almost all our of our friendlies (I think) for the past two years and we got relegated last year, the year before we hardly set world alight - we stayed up by the skin of our teeth, Obviously i'd rather win all our friendlies even just to give us and our players some confidence, but I wouldn't be overly bothered if we lost some of them.

I agree 100% with what Mick McCarthy said after Wolves game yesterday:

Mick McCarthy insisted Wolves' defeat by Wrexham was "just a run-out" - and revealed he "hates" pre-season friendlies.McCarthy stayed in the stands throughout as his side were beaten 1-0 at the Racecourse Ground by a Wes Baynes free-kick in a game where they fielded a different side in either half.

"From our point of view it was just a run-out," McCarthy told the club's official website. "I hate pre-season games, they're just a means to an end to get fit for the start.

"We all get upset when we don't win and I'm sat upstairs out of the way because I don't want to be down in the dug-out jumping and shouting.

"We've not been back two weeks and it's a fitness exercise with some good and some not so good and that's only to be expected.

"The players worked hard again on Friday and while I don't like getting beat, it's not the be-all and end-all at this stage."

I suppose McCarthy is just making excuses for a loss but I agree with him. (I know he's a manager of another club - Why should we be bothered about him, but its just backing up my points)

I agree, I think the OP has eaten too much sugar :P

I dont agree mate.

I think any side who wants to do well will give 100% every match without fail.

Some players clearly took the Hinckley game more seriously than others.

But ALL of them should have been determined to prove themselves to the management and fans. They had a responsibility to the 3000+ who paid money to watch that game.

Unfortunately, some (especially the old guard) showed they have still retained the bad habits from last season.

If they carry this on throughout the rest of the pre-season games, Pearson must either get rid or let them rot in the reserves.

Totally agree. Finally someone with sense.

46 people have so far voted in a poll about one meaningless pre-season game that most of them will not have seen.

Cracking.

I wonder if Rob Kelly's contract is still rolling otherwise it'll be covered in moss by now - she's all over anything these days.

It's not often I disagree with Matt but I'm with you on this one. Attitude begins with the first game and so does winning.

Whatever McCarthy says.

There were a few positives to come out of the Hinckley game. But they were all pretty crap.

Understandable as it's the first pre season game, not everyones fit, still getting back in the rythem of things etc etc.

I don't think you can really tell alot about a team from a friendly this early on, when it gets to late July/August you start to get a better idea of where you stand.

I agree and disagree! I think you should give 100% every game and try and win but still, it is all about being ready for the first game of the season and thats all that matters!

I think big Sam said he lost every game in pre-season once which was followed by a succesfull season at Bolton!

Hinckley could easily use the excuse ''we weren't fit blah blah blah''.

They haven't played for say 6 weeks, they should still be fit considering they are professional footballers, whereas Hinckley Utd players are pretty much part timers who should be less fit if anything!

We let 4 goals in, even if the defence was second string, it doesn't rub with me.

The performance shows how much of a improvement Pearson needs from his players. Some of the senior players performed very badly relative to the opposition, but it's ealry days, so fingers crossed!!

Hinckley seemed to be training pretty hard when I went by in the week. It's a bit early to sound alarm bells about the defence.

First half was dire but I really don't see Magunda or LRT as realistic first team candidates.

Second half Hinckley were much more subdued in attack and the goal they got would have been a stunner in any football although we did give Webster an age to set it up and still failed to get a block in.

Assuming Tunchev is the acomplished player most seem to think he is - and the new management don't s appear to have signed duffers so far - then the idea of Tunchev/Morrison starting and N'Gotty/Worley in reserve before Kisnorbo's comeback is surely not the worst scenario.

After all, our reserve defence let three goals in against Hinckley last season. And at home. But we lost that time. :D
