You need to d/l utorrent. Then go to Mininova.org Find a file you would like and download it. You could also try the private bay or sign up to a 'tracker' such as ilovetorrents.com or torrentzilla.

Or you could just d/l the Primal Scream album here

Edit: and dont forget the puppy

gtp.org is great site for downloading stuff. I used to use torrents but the download speed was too slow! Im a very impatient person! :S:D Use software search as well as album search to find albums.

Clampdown On Video Game Sharing

Computer game manufacturers are clamping down on people who illegally share games and films over the internet.

Sky News Article

I hope no one is seriously considering paying real cash money for Dream Pinball 3D, the game one hundred people are being taken to court for.

I downloaded it this morning and it sucks balls. Huge sweaty balls.

How they have the audacity to prosecute people for downloading this steaming pile of crap is amazing...I should be suing them for abusing my bandwidth with this trite piece of software.

Huge sweaty hairy old man balls.

It seems that to stop this trend, more creative ideas are coming out though rather than trying to nab thousands of illegal downloaders, like adding 'special DVD's' (which i sometime buy but never watch - just have to have the special edition.) giving CD's away with papers instead (and make money from the inflated cost of going to see a band live) re-releasing the same album serveral times with newer packaging or a 'Bonus track'

But lets face it guys - if the people who owned the rights to these things wanted you to download them for free they'd let you. You may feel you're doing nothing wrong, but for example if only one person bought a copy of Football Manager 09 and then distributed it for free to everyone else who wanted it, I doubt there would be a Football Manager 2010.

Yes companies have budgets for these sort of things - but wouldn't the world be a better place if they didn't need to?

Not quite as irritating as their "its all down to pirates, honest" excuses for why they cancelled their NHL product. They stopped doing boxed sales of it for some reason and went download-only, except they didn't notice that one of the major debit card providers in Scandinavia, obviously a pretty large audience for an Ice Hockey game, wasn't supported by their download system. They didn't sell enough, cancelled it and blamed it on pirates... who simply couldn't buy the damn thing.

Still not quite as crazy as the game company that threatened to sue a review site that had a negative review because they hadn't had a press preview copy so much have downloaded it as it wasn't out yet... they'd just got a mate who worked at a shop to sell them a copy a couple of days early when the stock arrived.

Two points:

a) Money doesn't go to terrorists. What money is generated from file sharing? :dunno::unsure:

No money is generated from file sharing, generally (obviously ads on sites etc. offset the costs) - the "YOU'RE FUNDING TERROR" argument is that some of the guys who hang around markets selling fake DVDs are sometimes supplied by organised crime gangs making absurd numbers of high-quality duplicates. Obviously, its a very different situation to file sharing, which has somewhere in the order of fook all connections to organised crime and terrorism, but its used as a blanket thing, because those who think they're losing out from file sharing.

I'm not sure of how legit the funding for all the servers etc. for the 'scene' stuff is (ie. the guys making the releases and the servers they go through before they get to the filesharing networks), but obviously the guys in the public eye like Pirate Bay etc. have rather a lot at stake, so are unlikely to have scammed anyone.

Oh, and the only firm stats I've seen on downloaded games suggest that around 1% of illegal downloads result in a purchase of the game. Of course, that doesn't take into account how many sales would have occurred if the illegal download didn't exist, so if a substantial amount of those 99% who don't buy would have, then you are looking at losing money off it. I think personally that copy-protection is looking in the wrong direction and a better way of doing things is going for added-value for those who have legal copies eg updates and little extras, if you look at a couple of the recent games from Stardock, they've had a hell of a lot of success doing that with what have basically been niche titles and outsold some really mainstream stuff.
