Imagine if he'd actually tried in the last 30m!! :o Just silly!

Why didnt he just run as fast as he can right through to the end he could have set a record that would have taken decades to beat.

because you get ridicoulose amounts of money for braking a world record, so set what you can and just beat it time and time abain, its kind of what isinbayeva (the pole vaulter) does. or however you spell her name

Sometimes I think the Americans get favoured.

Phelps was beaten by Cavic - clearly beaten as shown on the videos but somehow they make it as close as possible to make him win by .01 to make it believable

Being a massive follower of Cavic I feel robbed!

Bolt can be the fastest man ever!! Is going to take some super human creation to ever beat the records he is going to set.

Ricky Sappleton?

Shows that Phelps did not win!

It was so close and impossible to detect on regular-speed replays that the Serbian delegation filed a protest, triggering video and timing reviews down to the 10-thousandth of a second by FINA, swimming's world governing body.

"It was very clear that the Serbian swimmer touched second after Michael Phelps," said referee Ben Ekumbo of Kenya, a member of FINA's technical committee. "One was stroking (Phelps) and one was gliding (Cavic)."

Correct :D

you cant realy see from the picture because water distorts the view, but phelps had forward momentum.

Plus even if it was a draw they would have had to give it to phelps :P hahaha

Why? Because he's American and could win 8 medals...
