MC Prussian Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 For some reason, I'm not really into these Olympics. Thinking of it, I never really have in the past, either. It just seems like an excuse for most TV channels to justify their very own existance. They must be glad to have something to cover during the (in)famous "summer hole". The only Bejing competition that I watched for a longer period of time was the Men's Doubles final between Switzerland and Sweden today. Everything else just seems to be so uninteresting. I can't really relate to the whole hype - and that's nothing to do with China, mind you. Now I'm worried - am I still normal?
Joe. Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 Just watched the video of Bolt's run. Incredible. He'll beat that time too eventually, the showboating added a bit on. Even still he was so far ahead of his competitiors it was hilarious.
lildave3 Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 Shows that Phelps did not win! How?! Neither are touching the wall there Phelps won. Get over it. I'm just watching the news on the red button now, can't wait to watch Bolt.
Fox You Forest Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 I just watched it. He had enough time to make a cup of tea at the end. Brilliant run.
Guest Posted 16 August 2008 Posted 16 August 2008 Finally just watched the 100m final and bloody hell, that was astounding! Casual as you like at the end. imagine the time he could have done if he'd really still been trying for the last few metres.

Phube Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Has anyone, ever, won Gold in completely different events??And I don't mean running and long jump, that's all athletics... I mean in swimming and horse riding... or shooting and sailing! Now that WOULD be a proper Olympian! Well Rebecca Romero, who has just won GOLD in 3KM Pursuit (cycling) won a silver in Women's quad rowing last Olympics! That's pretty good for me!
purpleronnie Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Brilliant from the rowers/cycling/sailing. I say forget the rest of the sports, all that lottery money for the olympic athletes should be given to making sure the future rowers/cyclists & sailing teams dominate the olympics everytime, this way we can be assured of finishing high up the medals tables every time. Lets face it how oftem are we going to win a gold in the 100m? Maybe never, all the sports we've done well in aren't particularly high profile sports, but who cares if it gets us up the medal table? Yes, no?
Tilley Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 8 golds in a weekend for GB Incredible by Team GB. Fantastic weekend, Lets hope they can keep it up.
Lillehamring Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 the newspapers here printed a picture of bolt, just before he crossed the line, showing that his shoelace was undone, what a legend!

Master Fox Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Incredible by Team GB.Fantastic weekend, Lets hope they can keep it up. Team GB, Wooo! Yeah!
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Just have to give credit to all athletes from team GB this weekend. There efforts were superb. We have done very well so far and to be third behind The USA (Michael Phelps) is great for GB sport. This can only stand us in good stead going into 2012. I have really enjoyed it.
Jordan Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 1) Watched Phelps seal the deal last night ... George Washington. Abraham Lincoln. Jesse Owens. John Rambo. Jerry Springer. You can add one more name to the list of Great American Heroes. 2) I realized while watching Tomescu-Dita beat a tough field in the women's marathon just how awesome this event is in the Olympics. I can only imagine the feeling at the moment when one runs through the tunnel after a grueling two-hour run and emerges in the stadium by her/himself to the wild cheers of tens of thousands of fans in the Olympic Stadium. It's a staggering combination of agony and ecstasy, and there's nothing else in sports that compares to this. 3) The Polish women's volleyball was on TV for a little earlier. Yay. (USA beat them in 5 sets)
Ultra Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Our cyclists are awesome! Looks like there could be some more golds to come. Shame about Paula Radcliffe though - she'll have to wait ANOTHER four years for an Olympic medal..
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Can't wait for Idowu this morning.
lildave3 Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 Can't wait for Idowu this morning. What times that?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 August 2008 Posted 18 August 2008 What times that? No idea. Clare Blading is very elusive.
