The Stig Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Still beats division 3 - sort of. It's quite refreshing actually winning and seeing your team at the top of a league. You'll enjoy it down here.
joely22 Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 Come and join us. We're playing pub teams down here. We're playing as a pub team here. Although, judging by todays performance, that would be a compliment. Think PJ will be gone within a few games to be honest.

Think PJ will be gone within a few games to be honest. I said it at the time and I'll say it now you should never have got rid of Davies. Yoi weren't ready for the premiership. You should have learned from the experience, came togehter as a unit and slowly injected quality in the side. Re-promotion may have come, you'd certainly be doing better now. Instead Derby sacked the manager, and employed someone who came in and knocked evry little bit of confidence out the club. You've gone about things completly wrong Mr Jewell. Always been a gobsh*te. And I mean "down here" as in League 1. Because if you carry on like this we'll be passing each other.

If you're looking for some one who can spin a funny phrase or two in the face of adversity and take you down I hear Mr Ian Holloway is available.

The bloke didn't want to be here and was interviewing for other jobs whilst here. Trust me, the blokes bad news. I could talk all day about some of the shit that happened when he was here and reasons why it was a good decision to sack him. Yes, he got results but it's the baggage that comes with Billy Davies that's the problem. It's no coincidence that he hasn't had a job since us. Davies was never backed in the transfer market in the summer that we went up. He was given around £10million to spend which was no way near enough. His signings were poor. Claude Davis and Rob Earnshaw came to around £6.5million. Ridiculous. The confidence was gone by the time that Jewell got there. He has had long enough to prepare the side for this season (hes had since around January time) and has done nothing. The bloke will be gone shortly unless something drastically changes or he is backed with a significant sum of money. I wanted him to succeed here but the more I look at it, the more I see him playing golf in a month or so's time. And I was joking about the "down here" comment!

We need a young up and coming manager in my eyes. Darren Ferguson has been mentioned this evening. I don't know whether he's done well at Peterborough or not, can't say I've followed them. For me, we need someone like Gary Johnson but I doubt he'd jump ship.

OK, I was wrong about Davies, I'll give you that, but Jewell went about restoring confidence in the wrong way. The negativity has continued into this season, and as we found out last year it takes a hell of a lot to shake it off.

Matt Posted 24 August 2008 Posted 24 August 2008 Let's all laugh at Derby, Let's all laugh at Derby la la la la! Oh yes, Going into work on a Monday morning (This week Tuesday) is such a nice feeling nowadays, last season was terrible, I sure am getting my own back on the boss this season so far though, whether it will be short lived we'll have to wait and see...
Corky Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Jewell must be on his last legs now. They've lost to the worst team in the division (we even managed to beat Barnsley four times with our collection of misfits), so I can't see how they're going to get a win.

Not sure Barnsley are the worst side (Derby are ), but I agree surely Jewell is a fired man walking.
Unabomber Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 We may be in a lower division but I would rather be here and winning and enjoying my saturday night than be performing like them

isaidno Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Can this thread be renamed ' the lets all laugh at Derby thread ' ?
Brainy Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Can this thread be renamed ' the lets all laugh at Derby thread ' ? Was gonna ask that earlier  So much bollocks going around at Derby, we may aswell dump it all in one thread.
Corky Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 I would have sympathy for them if some of their fans on other messageboards weren't as annoying as hell.
Flynny Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Not Jewell's fault, but he's been hired 6 months too early and the losing mentality that he didn't have the players to shake last season has set in for good this season. He should resign with his integrity intact and try again.
lildave3 Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 We may be in a lower division but I would rather be here and winning and enjoying my saturday night than be performing like them I concur! (Tommeh, take note)

He should resign, but he won't as I can't see him passing up the chance of a hefty pay-out.
Joe. Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...nty/7622683.stm I applaud Derby for this.
