Tommeh Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Waccoe posters wet themselves about the atmosphere on Thursday nightBut if it was really that good, how come Leeds fans were so often outsung by Millwall's, even though they outnumbered them by around FORTY to one? Their just going on about how great the roar and goal celebrations were, you know in the same way we did after Howards winner against them. Watching the video back I still find it incredible seeing the whole stand opposite the camera stood with the Kop and south stand too. It's like our entire East stand, kop and Family all up instead its a good few hundred in L1, couple in K and a smattering acroos the back of the Kop. No other club in the land would produce what we saw at Elland Rd in my opinion.

Because their home support is pretty dire, reading their forum has made me realise this even more, they constantly winge about the lack of atmosphere and the lack of support they get for the size of the city....it all sounded rather familiar really!
MC Prussian Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I had almost forgotten that we used to laugh about Leeds a lot.
weluv Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 looks at that table. look hard. enjoy it. Because that's our low point for this season. With Larry in charge, and 4 or 5 signings in key positions, we should be able to win the league. To some people on here, we know our team are crap, but we also know that we have a f*****g brilliant time following them, and pride ourselves on creating a decent atmosphere wherever we go. What we call 'crap' at Elland road, other teams would kill for. Man U & Chelsea both still sing about us-please refer to the 2008 Champions League final. Both supporters singing the same song! incredible. The Leeds-Man U rivalry is due to three things, firstly the historic yorkshire/lancashire rivalry of which LUFC & MUFC are emblematic, wearing the colours of our respective roses. Secondly the period between 65 and 75 when Man U (along with Liverpool and Arsenal) were one of our biggest rivals for honours. Thirdly, as has been said, due to chanting on both sides by fans. The despicable munich stuff from our lot, and the turkey chants from man u fans, as well as the chants about Don Revie we got on our return to Old Trafford in 1990. Looking forward to a few new grounds this year, and your place in 2010-11. MOT P.S. Good luck for this season.

Enjoy Brentford, I hear they have a pub on all 4 corners of the ground
Finchy Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Enjoy the Man U rivalry while they still hate you, the longer you rot away down there and the more Man United turn into a brand, wont be long before the next generation of Yanited fans haven't got a clue who the fook you lot are.
weluv Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 yeah but that's there fault for being tossers. Some of them already think Liverpool, rather than Man City, are their biggest rivals.
Daggers Posted 10 June 2009 Author Posted 10 June 2009 Looking forward to a few new grounds this year, and your place in 2010-11 ...and how the **** are you going to be able to jump straight to the Premiership from Division III?
Guest Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 ...and how the **** are you going to be able to jump straight to the Premiership from Division III? Only if Phil Gartside gets his way with Prem 2

Finchy Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 yeah but that's there fault for being tossers. Some of them already think Liverpool, rather than Man City, are their biggest rivals. Erm it is? The Liverpool Man U rivalry is definitely their biggest.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 yeah but that's there fault for being tossers. Some of them already think Liverpool, rather than Man City, are their biggest rivals. With 36 titles and eight European Cups between them, I'd call the Man U-Liverpool rivalry the biggest rivalry in English football and one of the biggest in Europe. Far more so than a now faded rivalry between two clubs that haven't even met for five years.
Shrenchel Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 Schrenchel comes out the closet. It's not like I wanna skull fook Ken Bates. I'd rather Leeds bring 3,000 nutters down to the Walkers than have another drab game against Scunny where our fans can't even be fooked to get going. I'd rather go Elland Road than Glanford Park (aint been around this season but 07/08 was dire.) And Leeds away support is the benchmark, it takes the piss out every footballing authority, copper and steward that wants us to all sit down and sing some mild mannered happy clappy songs, in that respect the further up the footballing ladder they are the better. I don't think anyone could disgaree with any of that really/

I don't think anyone could disgaree with any of that really/ Much as I dislike Lids, I don't think I could disagree. Pound for pound, given their position in the football pyramid and recent lack of success etc., Leeds probably have the best fans in the country (especially now the racist element of their support seems to have disappeared).

Daggers Posted 10 June 2009 Author Posted 10 June 2009 Only if Phil Gartside gets his way with Prem 2 Granted, some members of the Leeds team may be playing us in 10/11...but only if Kingy lets him out of his pocket.
Corky Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 Granted, some members of the Leeds team may be playing us in 10/11...but only if Kingy lets him out of his pocket. So if Delph goes to Everton do we get a share of the fee, considering Kingy will go with him too?
weluv Posted 10 June 2009 Posted 10 June 2009 I agree it's a big rivalry, but the Manchester derby has historically been the biggest fixture in the city. My problem is that with increasing sky money, we're going to have rivalries that make no sense, because of something that's been said on the telly or somethin stupid like that. And most man u fans are already plastickers so a few more who know f**k all about their own club makes no difference.
