GCSE Results Day

strange ours is capped at 40%, so if you got 5% you could get a max of 40% (a pass) on a resit.... easier uni here :P

What?! Bastards! I only (technically) failed one module at Uni. I had a "Mathematical Statistics A" exam on the Monday afternoon after that FA Cup game against Spurs in my 2nd Year. I went to the match, not planning to drink, I had a drink at half-time when we were 2-0 as a mini drowning of my sorrows (expecting a spanking), and then the rest is history. I woke up at midday on Monday with a banging hangover and managed a mighty 22%. I didn't have to resit it though because I got 72% in the "Mathematical Statistics B" exam in May (by going to the revision lecture where he pretty much told us the exam questions), getting the pass with a big 47% overall in the Maths Stats module.

I'm starting to think I know more about your life than your parents.

It's also worth remembering that if you fail a (core) module at Uni then you have to resit it but you still keep the original mark. My housemate found that out the hard way. We had two exams in teh January of our first year and he realised he didn't have enough time to revise for both so he decided to ignore one and concentrate on the other. He managed 5% in the one he ignored and only found out afterwards that he had to resit it but couldn't improve his mark, haha.

Ouch! >_<

Hopefully I won't get myself into a situation like that. I guess January taught me a lot in terms of revising and the need for being organised / as up-to-date or advanced with notes as I can, which is why I did a damn site better in June than I did in January.

Add to the fact I'd like to come away from uni with a first instead of a 2:1 to kind of set me apart from the crowd and the majority of people doing my degree, I think (in theory, anyway) I should be well set to do well. Hope I can say the same when I've actually started!

I'd have to disagree.

All I have is a decent memory, some logic, willingness and 110% effort, and I've always come out with more than what i've wanted.

Bang on.

Fairly pleased. It takes me into college, and allows me to go for a higher unit.

Micky you will go far exams or not. Bloody well done though.

Erm, it's an internet forum - many people post personal opinions, surely that's the point? At no point did you keep your own opinions private. :frusty:

Apologies, but it is not down to you to dictate what people can/can't post on here.

As usual AOWW has it bang on. Nod.E you are 100% entitled to post your emotions on this forum, and know exactly how you feel. I was averaging an A all year and came out with a B, so I'm disapointed. No matter what my ability, I put in 100% and aim for the top, in everything I do. I am over the moon with my results, and what pleases me most is I know I couldn't have tried harder.

As is everyone. It's a given.

Yeah, I think the last module really took the p*ss. 50% exam? and how many topics were there? Congratulations to anybody who got an A or A* in the last module. Different class. I agree with you though, despite this I know I couldn't have tried harder and i'm happy with my results.

As far as your results? Brilliant mate. I know how hard you worked, too. Fully deserved.

Haha. The teacher was good. But this student failed <_<

Did anyone on this forum ever take this topic?

I did that history one.

It was actually really good - Development of the American West from the end of the civil war to about 1900, and Medicine through time was very interesting too.

Altogether, I thought it was a great course!

Well done to people who got what they wanted, be proud of the grades you got even if you got a B aiming for an A, C is a fantastic achievement so anything more is a bonus.
