DJ Barry Hammond Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I think the people following him are trying to show how good a job he did. Failing Sven how about Trevor Brooking taking over!
Darkzzz_ Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Bloody hell. Give the man a chance. At the end of the day the man can only work with what he has got. Unfortunately some players just can not produce any decent consistent form at international level for England. It is a shame but as I have seen for years, The media build England up for failure every single time, the media have driven me away from following England, I did not watch the game tonight, I am glad as well, England have pissed me off for years. I just finally decided to stop wasting my time on them. Don't get me wrong I would love to see them win the world cup in my life time, but we won't because we get put up high on the mantle by the media and the players crack. Same old story I'm afraid. Some England fans will never learn, brainwashed into thinking we are the best because we won the 1966 world cup. pffftttttt I feel for these type of people, just a lack of education in the way the media operate in this country. Hate them with a passion. Not the players or the managers. They drove Sven out and that bloke got so much stick. But at least we qualified for every tournament under him. Expect some ridiculous Cappello out back pages soon.

Expect some ridiculous Cappello out back pages soon. Spot on. Not just the bold bit the whole post but for me it starts with the bold bit. I was having this argument with someone who was going to that match tonight, Ironically he's a glory supporter, when it comes to club football I would call him a supporter or football fan but to be fair to him he does go to a few England matches, except he wank's over them, and you cannot say a bad word against them as far as he is concerned. No doubt the next Euro or World Cup i'll be there on the bandwagon "Come on England" and the qualifiers coming up i'll be out watching the games but England bore me, No matter what manager at the end of the day the players are the same, in recent times Sven has got the best out of the players and Sven got a hell of alot of undeserved slagging off but these players IMO were still shite as a team. As individuals we have some of the world's best players put them together and we have a team that in reality would struggle to be a mid-table premiership team. But (And i'm not the biggest fan of McClaren but I do have to stick up for him because it's fact) if McClaren was still in charge he would be slated to fook in the papers tomorrow, I doubt we'll see them slating Capello as much, which is a good thing because Capello doesn't deserve it, but just a prime example of how the media work.
Simi Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Come on people, the players need to save themselves for the next big Premiership game, the stuff that really matters. They shouldn't be expected to put effort in for this.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 Whats Fabio done wrong?Awful thread. Come on, this is England and we have a foreign manager in charge. Would people be moaning about tonights result if MON was in charge of England? No they wouldnt. As the above says awful thread.
Mark Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I've lost interest in them totally, Capello is another insistant on playing the same old faces and getting the same old results. Lampard and Gerrard still being played together just makes me. David Beckham, Stewart Downing, Wes Brown, Emile Heskey, these players are not/no longer England class we are simply continuingly giving England caps away to these players. Rooney the best talent we've produced in years is being wasted, looks nothing like the player in the Euros 4 years ago. Agbonlahor should make use of his Nigerian passport, Ashley Young is too late.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 20 August 2008 Author Posted 20 August 2008 I wasn't really looking to slate Fabio - more say that to be fair to Sven, he had done a decent job with what he had and that the problems relate a lot further down than just the players and the management. For a start I think the FA should buy pitches in every major city in England, pay for their up-keep to a decent standard and provide qualified coaches who run youth sides through all ages - that are free for kids to play in, and that are not affiliated to any clubs. Then with the side - there seems to be too many flavours of the month. Hargreaves, Bentley, Richards, and even Barry to some extent have all been talked up for a couple of games and then seem to disapeer in mediocrity.

So you wanted to bring Sven back to keep the pitches in a good standard? If you werent trying to slate Capello then I'm Tevez.

If I wanted a manager to keep the pitches in a good nick surely i'd have Mr Allen as my number 1 choice? Honestly wasn't slating Fabio - the title is clearly tounge in cheek. Mean who else is going to want to take the job? Post went into wrong thread - odd!

Oh and David James - as solid as he was last season at Portsmouth you have to crave out a regular back 4 and keeper for the next two years - i doubt whether James should be that Keeper.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I watched some of the highlights on iTV and can honestly say that the media look set to give out a right moan tommorow. They interviewed a few journos atfter the game.
Tevez Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I didn't even know they was playing until I finished work.
Staf Posted 20 August 2008 Posted 20 August 2008 I didn't even know they was playing until I finished work. Been on msn and everyone i was talking didnt know it was on how pointless of a friendly was this 1 game into the season if i was a manager i would be so annoyed. I think it not being on BBC killed it off aswell.
wurmer Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 No. Over-paid, over-exposed, over-hyped players are the problem, not the Manager. Compare the England football team with the spirit, determination and positive attitude of the Olympic team - they need an attitude check.

Its nice to know there are other people out there who think this way. You a person I could have a decent conversation with about football. So many England fans as you say, just won't have a bad word said about them. When it comes to football I am honest , If we played bad I will say, If we played well I will be honest and say we played well. So when I say we are Shit, I am using that magic word again, Honesty. Some people are just so naive.
Lovejoy Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 As the game laat night was on Setanta I missed it. Can't say I'm too bothered really. Maybe Setanta could screen all the England games ?
Ultra Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 As the game laat night was on Setanta I missed it. Can't say I'm too bothered really. Maybe Setanta could screen all the England games ? On recent evidence, that would be the quickest way for Setanta to end up like ITV Digital..

Well said Mark, I'm in complete agreement with you. As far as I'm concerned they're all the same wankers who put 10% effort in to our qualification campaign. I think there's a lot of shit going down at the FA involving pressure on the manager to pick certain players and it's just not working. Capello is already being bossed around, he didn't want Terry as captain but because the FA forced it on him to make a decsion based on the English way, he had no choice. When will we realise the English way is outdated and shit? Until we change our ways we'll carry on getting outclassed by well organised teams who are actually teams. How the likes of Lampard, Downing, Gerrard and Ashley Cole still get in the squad is beyond me. Yes, they're all talented but when it comes to play for England they're consistently missing. It's appaling the likes of Young and Agbonlahor are still missing out. Both showing fantasic form for their club and yet they're being pushed out by the same underperformers who cost us qualification. None of them care about playing for England, the main hope is they don't return to their club with an injury, that means most to them. I've fell out of love with English side, for now it looks like it's going to stay that way.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 We need a bit of Dutch influence to get us playing total football, bring back Steve McClaren
The Reverend Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 Let's not actually (to the thread title, and the post above).
