Barcelona are just about untouchable when they play at their best, and Messi is an absolutely sublime footballer. Definitely a future World Player of the Year.

I would hope so. I've said before that I think he's the best player in the world and it'd be good for him to get the recognition he deserves. Scary thing is he will probably only get better with age and experience.

Just as a quick question for anybody who regularly gets to see Villareal play.. Is Matias Fernandez as good for them as he seems to be in the virtual world of football manager? I know he has popped up with a couple of goals in recent times but I haven't had the chance to watch him play what with not having Sky at uni.

I have been making these noises for a while now. Obviously I bum him a little too much. Certainly the best player I have seen with my own eyes.

Runner up behind Guiza i'm hearing.

Guiza needs to get back to a decent league first.

Still has a lot to prove in my opinion. Very talented, had a good season last season, I think he will be a success still.

Bochum - the German equivalent of Leicester, won at Monchengladbach yesterday. MASSIVE.

I also admire what Koller has done as manager there... Limited means, yet always good for a surprise result.

Watched it live round my house with a few mates. Decent game and a fantastic goal by Grote to win the match. Big win for mein VfL.

BUNDESLIGA UPDATE

Hertha Berlin's lead at the top of Bundesliga was closed down to just one point as they went down to European hopefuls Stuttgart, 2-0. The three chasers of Bayern, Hamburg and Wolfsburg all took advantage whilst Hoff have now been written off.

Bayern Munich's single goal victory over Karlschure was enough - Jose Sosa bagged at the Allianz Arena as Bayern fielded a number of squad players against Bundesliga's bottom team. Wolfsburg continued their heroic form, hammering Armenia Bielefeld 3-0 away from home - their presence as dark horses certainly makes things interesting with a side full of talent. Hamburg beat Schalke, 2-1 in Sunday's showcase game. Schalke lost once again at home as Guerrero's double was met with widescale booing and only a consaltion goal could be mustered.

Hoff's woes continues as they had to come back from 2-1 down against Hannover at home to claim a point thanks to Wellington's strike six minutes from time. Bochum and Cologne were the major winners at the bottom - both beating relegation rivals. Bochum are now clear of the relegation zone after an awful first half of the season, they played Mochengladbach is a cup-tie atmosphere and Dennis Grote got the winner shortly after the break. It would be a great shame if Mochengladbach were to be relegated though - 50,000 stadium which averages 45,000 fans, the great days of the 70s makes their drop almost Newcastle-esque - the biggest problem is their best players all have their eye on playing for other clubs next season ie. Baumjohann at Bayern.

What he said. Watched the highlights last night. Bayern will win the league. Good result for Hamburg.

I'm watching the Bundesliga highlights on Setanta at this moment in time  was hoping for the French league highlights but they are on Mondays and Tuesdays, this will do though.

Bochum looked pretty good actually.

Yeah, I can't watch them at 6, that's why I was looking at the highlights that are on at 4.

Boo at Marseille!

Stands to reason that he has a lot to prove if he starts (like I think is the case) most of the games on the bench at present. Though he does appear to have great impact recently as well! Is it a consistency problem with him? 'Cos I'd expect if he put in quality performance after performance the big dogs would have been sniffing by now..

Bingo.

Although saying that there was a spell where I thought it wouldn't be long until a big club came sniffing.

T'is a real shame really. But I suppose that's the difference between good players and world-class players. Guess it's a bonus that he still has age on his side though, so he could yet prove to be a hit. I will be monitoring him closely in the coming weeks seeing as I'm gona be on a bit of a vacation from uni.

Bye bye Hansa Rostock. lol

Impending relegation couldn't be due a nicer club.

lol

I see you've picked up on their Nazism!

You should see the derbies with St.Pauli. Fierce. Riots in Hamburg. The set flares and shit off in the Hamburg hbf which is one of the nicest buildings I've been too. To see it lit up with flares and hundreds of Right-wing hools screaming "Schiess Sankt Pauli" in it would be quite a sight.

Barca made it difficult for themselves as usual. Good goal though to win the game 1-0. Eto'o and Xavi combing well.

I didn't enjoy the game, mainly due to the fact I have had a few alcoholic drinks mixed with being annoyed about today's game.

Sleep is in order now I think.

Anyone see the huge flag Hamburg set up today? Said something along the lines of "1887 - we're 12 years older (than Hoffenheim)".

That and the crowd - impressive.

Database error.

I'm guessing Bayern lost to Wolfsburg though, which he did predict.

5-1 I think, iirc. Painful.

Fener play? Werder got on nicely, thanks.
