Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 May 2009 Posted 23 May 2009 Bordeaux heading for the French title, looks like. PSG have tailed off horribly but currently leading Valenciennes 1-0, seems they will have to battle to hang on to 4th rather than looking upwards though. UEFA Cup run may have cost them. Spain - Well keen on Raul Garcia putting Atletico in front, hope they get 4th. EDIT: PSG 2-1 down now and Atletico 1-1. Good effort lads. Twats. Forlan! Right I'm going to stop updating this now, it's pointless.
Ultra Posted 25 May 2009 Posted 25 May 2009 Looks like it's between Atletico and Villarreal for 4th spot in La Liga. Did anyone see all the empty seats in the Bernabeu last night?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 25 May 2009 Posted 25 May 2009 Looks like it's between Atletico and Villarreal for 4th spot in La Liga.Did anyone see all the empty seats in the Bernabeu last night? Come on Villarreal!
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 May 2009 Author Posted 26 May 2009 Enjoyed my Serie A action at the weekend, the football has improved so much out there in the past few season. In terms of goals scored, La Liga and Serie A have outscored the premiership this season. There have been some wonderful games in all three leagues this season. But I have enjoyed Serie A more than ever, I am hoping next season will be a lot closer. The premiership has improved so much in areas they lacked, you can see how organised English teams are now-a-days, you could see that in the Barca V Chelsea affair, how defensive Chelsea were. Years ago they would have just fell apart. It certainly isn't a bad thing at all. You can see what effect foreign football has had on the game over here. I wonder if they will still call Serie A a defensive league when the defence is actually the worst part of the Italian game at the moment.
Ultra Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 I wonder if they will still call Serie A a defensive league when the defence is actually the worst part of the Italian game at the moment. As I suspected, the goals-per-game ratio in Serie A is higher than it is in the Premier League.
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 May 2009 Author Posted 26 May 2009 As I suspected, the goals-per-game ratio in Serie A is higher than it is in the Premier League. Sure is. But it still gets the boring tag from idiots that don't even watch it. It has been class this season.
lildave3 Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Am I the only person that thinks goals per game being linked to Entertainment values is bollocks?
Finnegan Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Am I the only person that thinks goals per game being linked to Entertainment values is bollocks? Mmmh. I'd probably rather watch a thrilling 2 - 1 than a 7 - 0 drubbing but I do find the Spanish league more exciting than ours, personally. And a lot of that is because goals can typically come from anywhere.
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 May 2009 Author Posted 26 May 2009 Am I the only person that thinks goals per game being linked to Entertainment values is bollocks? Actually no your not. The entertainment value in Serie A has been wonderful this year. I was certainly bored by the much hyped survival Sunday.
Hitesh Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 Wonderful.... Just heard about this - £21m!!!! Good signing but slightly overpriced surely?
Darkzzz_ Posted 26 May 2009 Author Posted 26 May 2009 Just heard about this - £21m!!!! Good signing but slightly overpriced surely? I think that is a great price considering the amount of money going about in football.
Lovejoy Posted 26 May 2009 Posted 26 May 2009 As I vastly prefer German to Italian football gutted to see diego go to Juve. Still, the Bundesliga is a selling league at the end of the day .
SemperEadem Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Caen lost one nil to bordeaux wich meant they are relagated
lildave3 Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Ha, awesome Fenerbahce and Galatasary level on points going into the last game of the season, battling for 4th/5th place. Fener just ahead on GD. Both games were level at 1-1 but in the 82nd minute Arda Turan gave Gala the lead and what looked like a place in Europe. Step up Dani Guiza! In stoppage time, GWEETHA scored to give Fenerbahce a place in the UEFA Cup at Galatasary's expense. Maginificent.
Darkzzz_ Posted 30 May 2009 Author Posted 30 May 2009 Forlan's 32nd goal secures 4th spot for Atletico So glad they got it. Forlan is on fire.
Darkzzz_ Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 Yet another goal glut in Serie A on the final weekend. Some wonderful games this season. Nearly 1000 goals, not bad for a super defensive league.
Sparky Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Yet another goal glut in Serie A on the final weekend. Some wonderful games this season. Nearly 1000 goals, not bad for a super defensive league. Its not some much defensive its the lack of any kind of tempo that does me. Watching Osasuna vs Madrid and other action from last day of La Liga , good viewing

My opinion mind. Going to miss the footy after tonight.
