Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ord/7635928.stm Actually ridiculous.
Maybes Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ord/7635928.stmActually ridiculous. Dear oh dear. FA are a bunch of muppets.
Simi Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008  I have lost all hope of any authorities doing any good for the game.
Corky Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 I can't believe the arrogance of the referee to report this incident after his totally inept display of officiating. The fact that the FA cannot understand why Boothroyd might be slightly upset is also baffling. I'm surprised Aidy didn't chin the ref. The FA are a complete joke.
Koke Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Respect to the officials? Bollocks to that - With an outrageous decision like that going against Watford, Boothroyd have every right to abuse the ref, let alone be upset.
Matt Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Also the Watford captain got yellow carding for suggesting the referee had made wrong decision, is this or will this be revoked?
Joe. Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Also the Watford captain got yellow carding for suggesting the referee had made wrong decision, is this or will this be revoked? Yellow cards can't be revoked can they?
Granno Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 A scandalous decision. Boothroyd had every right to be pissed off at the joke of a decision. FA are a bunch of muppets
Matt Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Yellow cards can't be revoked can they? Not sure. Just another pathetic example then.
ousefox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Not sure.Just another pathetic example then. i don't think they can...
purpleronnie Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 I don't understand. When a ref makes a mistake you cant say anything. I didnt realize England had turned Communist.
David O'Leary Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Respect to the officials? Bollocks to that - With an outrageous decision like that going against Watford, Boothroyd have every right to abuse the ref, let alone be upset. There is never a reason to abuse one of our officials. Luckily I was told yesterday at a referee develpment course that the assistant is retiring at the end of the season so he won't have to live with the stigma too long. Players make mistakes- and they get dropped, fair enough you say. Fine. But when a referee/assistant makes a mistake he obviously isn't human and doesn't have feelings or ever makes mistakes so people can call them what they like but it's ok, he's a referee Yellow cards can't be revoked can they? No. The only time a player can appeal against a yellow is for mistaken idendity.
DB11 Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Why is it absolutely ridiculous? He fully deserves to be charged for that. So what if it was a bit of a bad decision he still abused the Referee. Yellow cards can't be revoked can they? Only for mistaken identity
Asha Posted 27 September 2008 Posted 27 September 2008 Why is it absolutely ridiculous? He fully deserves to be charged for that. So what if it was a bit of a bad decision he still abused the Referee. Mate, I appreciate you're always going to side with the referees. As a referee yourself, you see it from their point of view. You wouldn't want to be abused for a bad decision like that...and fair enough. You're one of very few (maybe just you) on here that has a proper insight into how referees see it etc, and at times it's fascinating to hear it. This decision in particular though, with a goal randomly awarded...in an industry where jobs are on the line all the time, where goals/points are essential, where pressure mounts with every negative result...you have to feel for Boothroyd. It was a shocking decision by the referee and assistant and although Boothroyd shouldn't have abused the ref, fining him for it is rediculous.

If you are passionately involved in a game and you get a decision like that, tell me you are not going to react and stay calm? There wasn't even a decsion to make and the incompetance of the officials led it to being an absolute farce. They deserve the abuse they got, this is football. Football will always be a high tempo game and it will always have big stakes. The FA shouldn't be so far up their own arse with the campaign and they should realise that was a shocker.

If the decision really was tight and the referee made a mistake, fair enough, suggest he shouldn't be abused. But for a disaster such as the one in the Watford game? They deserve every piece of abuse they got. There was no decision to make, and the officials fu cked it up big time. I'm highly suprised that it was only Boothroyd and one of the Watford players involved in the abuse "scandal", because it really was a decision that outrageous. The FA are a bunch of suited muppets hell bent on killing all forms of passion and intensity in football. I seriously can't stand that bunch of wan kers. If a decision like that was given against Leicester, would you think our manager was a cu nt for losing his rag? Do you think the fans would be bang out of order for saying anything that could possibly upset the referee?? On second thoughts, don't answer that last question. I'm pretty sure you feel that the referee should be wrapped in cotton wool, and we should receive a huge fine with 5 games to be played behind closed doors.
DB11 Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Oh fu ck off. A bit of a bad decision?? Well we all make the odd mistake.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Well we all make the odd mistake. Come on Danny, even you can admit that the Reading "goal" was more than just an "odd mistake".
filbertway Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Resists parent joke. Jamie, I really wouldn't respond, like I'm doing. He clearly knows that he's trying to wind people up. BTW you missed an absolute corker pal, I'm sure chunk filled you in... and told you about the game as well
DB11 Posted 28 September 2008 Posted 28 September 2008 Come on Danny, even you can admit that the Reading "goal" was more than just an "odd mistake". I know but I'm trying to defend the Referee and see if it pisses him off It was a dreadful decision and one that should not have been got wrong at any level of football. 1) It was on the ARs near side 2) He would have seen the player be in front of the post as the post would have been behind him if you get me so should have realised ball no where near post 3) Why would an attacker be clearing the ball away from goal to stop his team scoring 4) The Referee, 4th Official and inactive Assistant should have seen the ball was nowhere near the ball 5) There were no appeals from fans or players, the Referee should have twigged something was not right and changed it to a defensive free kick or something There is only one excuse I can think of to defend the Referee. That is that if someone that is as experienced and neutral running the line for you and he tells you that is he 100% sure it is a goal then you are going to go with him aren't you?
