Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 If you consider where he's came from and how comfortable he looks now I think in a few years time (hopefully he'll still be here!) he'll be a class act...certainly got great potential
surrifox Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I thought Morrison looked shaky on Saturday. He seems far to hesitant with his clearances and often gives the ball away carelessly. He still has the lower league look about him, but Pearson is no doubt the man to be able to change that. For now, I'd stick with Hobbs and Tunchev. Kisnorbo doesn't fill me with confidence. His hands on approach costs us far to much and if Saturday is anything to go by, he still hasn't learnt to pass a football on the floor. the case for including Kisnorbo must include the fact that he is the only one of our centre backs likely to score from set pieces. He is rusty coming back from a nasty injury but is more than capable at this level
davieG Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I like Morrison, there's a lot more to come from him. This season is all about developing him and getting him used to first team professional football. Pearson has taken him under his wing and I reckon he see's him as potentially a quality player and he'll develop him accordingly. He likes to get Morrison to organise the defence, which at 20 is a big responsibility but it also will help him learn quickly. He's hardly put a foot wrong when he's played, but possibly been overshadowed by Tunchev and Hobbs, but that doesn't mean to say he's been poor. Far from it. Looking forward to seeing him get better and better hopefully. If you consider where he's came from and how comfortable he looks now I think in a few years time (hopefully he'll still be here!) he'll be a class act...certainly got great potential I agree with both of you.
Kilworthfox Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I have not been impressed with Morrison at all. He is often caught out by league 1 players. I have seen Morrison play many times and wait to see anything which will make him a really valuable asset to our side. I believe we should loan him out to another League 1 side as we as promotion contenders can not afford inexperienced mistakes.

The only errors I have seen from any of our players that have cost us this season have been from Gilbert and Martin.
Thracian Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 What are these mistakes he has made that have cost us yet? The only errors I have seen from any of our players that have cost us this season have been from Gilbert and Martin. There haven't been many mistakes collectively let alone from one individual, looking at our goals against record. Fans will make up a problem when it comes to getting their favourites back in the side cos there's no way Morrison has been a let down. He just has things he can improve on like everyone else. Kisnorbo has one great plus against his fellow centre-backs - he can score from set pieces - and the way we squander those makes us damned fortunate to be still competing at the top of the table cos I think it is a major failing and something that needs to be addressed and quick. Against that is his much-mentioned holding of opponents and his woeful distribution, factors which have cost us in the past in terms of inviting pressure. With our still largely latent attacking potential, the last thing we need is defenders giving the ball away unnecessarily.

I realise he is capable, but at the moment, I'd be hesitant to break up the partnership of Hobbs and Tunchev.

Jimmy Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 is it just me who sees the irony?! he does seem to gloss over his own tendencies doesn't he ...
Corky Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 is it just me who sees the irony?! No, Levi Porter should be centre-back

Hey Thracian Do you not think that the lack of goals from set pieces has been inpart down to poor delivery. I was sitting with a West Ham fan at Oldham the other day and was telling him we were poor from corners just as I said it perhaps the only decent delivery from a corner all season came in and we hit the wood work! Also looking at Tunchevs record before he came to us he got a few goals but hasn't had a look in so far!

It's unfair to say that our defenders haven't really contributed in goalscoring terms- the opportunities haven't been there.

Corky Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Hey CorkyWho would you have taking the corners to Morrison et al? After Saturday definitely Dyer, but he's been inconsistent with his set-pieces. Dyer or King maybe.
Jimmy Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Hey CorkyWho would you have taking the corners to Morrison et al? who's actually took them so far, I know Adams has and I think Dyer has had a few as well (including the free kick Howard scored from) but who else?

Jimmy Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 King tried and failed as well. Can Oakley or Gradel not take a set piece either? I seem to remember Mattock taking some last season and they weren't that bad, granted he's not been able to yet
Thracian Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 King tried and failed as well. King needs to be in the middle anyway unless he's having a crack at goal. He's pretty good from the edge of the area given chance and we don't have anyone else picking up who's likely to crack them in from there.
