RowlattsFox Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I really don't think there is much difference between the two. I thought Martin did alright last night, the first goal was more Gilberts fault than anyone else, from my view it looked like MArtin came out and made himself big but was unfortunate that the ball squeezed in, I stand to be corrected though when I see the goal on TV. I didn't see the second goal but i've not seen many people laying the blame on him. Which of the goals that we have conceded so far have been Martin mistakes? Henderson was unlucky to be dropped but I don't think he's much better than Martin at all, both average keepers.
Corky Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I must admit I've never been Henderson's greatest admirer. Good, if not great, shot-stopper, but catching and kicking, as well as organisation skills, leave a lot to be desired. However, he should be in the starting line-up. Three matches this season and none conceded. What more does he have to do? I think Liverpool have said to us "Martin plays or he comes back". If that is the case, send him back. He's not a bad keeper, he's still young, but Henderson is better in my opinion, and so should therefore start.
Hackneyisblue Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Henderson has been woeful for far far too long, perhaps we should just get another goalie. PS Saving a couple of penalties does not make you a good goalie, commanding your box, talking to your defence, distribution and shot-stopping do.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 These goalkeeper threads are very boring now. Just shut up moaning and back the lad instead of critising everything he does. Dont know why everyone is going on about Henderson, most people were slagging him off last season. Jokers.

But he saved a couple of penalties, had a couple of good games* and kept some clean sheets this season, surely you can see why people would want him more than Martin. *after loads of bad ones **when playing behind another tight defence which includes an international defender and against third division strikers Excellent post Albert
Joe. Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I don't like either of them, but I'm very much unconvinced by Martin at the moment, so I'd also be inclined to put Henderson in too. Henderson's also a walking disaster just waiting to happen though.

Agreed, let's get another one, is Fulop playing first tem football, can his wages be much higher than Martin's?

Hackneyisblue Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 They'd be a lot higher then Martin's I'm sure they are but if he was happy to come and play first team footbal he could make the difference as to which division we play in next season. If he'd stayed last season we'd still be in The Championship (might still have Holloway though).

IF Sunderland are willing to sell him, he would go to a top championship side, we haven't a hope in hell of getting him so can people please stop bringing him up
Asha Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 IF Sunderland are willing to sell him, he would go to a top championship side, we haven't a hope in hell of getting him so can people please stop bringing him up It's getting embarrasing now.

Genius son! Pure genius!

Genius son! Pure genius! So Martin hasn't kept a clean sheet then? Martin was crap on crosses in just about every game he played for us last season was he? Genius son, pure genius! Henderson has been dog poop for most of his career with us, if Martin isn't up to the job then get ANOTHER keeper.

Take out the QPR and Sheff Utd games and name me a bad league performance from him in 2008.

Anish Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Having seen the goals, both of them were save-able. What Martin was doing jumping over the ball for the first goal God only knows. And the second he should have pushed away, especially after he got a big hand on it. I've been saying all along that Martin should be sent back to Liverpool. Just because they are a bigger club than us they shouldn't be allowed to bully us into submission and force Martin to play every game. He's awful - Hendo isn't very good either but he's a damn sight better than Martin. Nigel Pearson is seriously annoying me with his persistance with Martin and the Oakley-King partnership in midfield, both of which are weak links in our otherwise solid team.

Hendo's shot-stopping (penalty saving ) is better than Martin's. So who's a better goalie there?
