Yet again Thracian sees another 'assist' for King in his King-tinted-glasses. King didn't have any part in the first goal.

:crylaugh: you might want to watch the replay and reconsider that one.

King played it out to Oakley on the wing, you passed it up the line to Fryatt, who in turn crossed it for Dyer to score.

It's Fryatt's assist.

I'm well aware of that and never suggested otherwise. I said King had a hand in the goal. Just as I credited other people with their parts in goals and said full-back Cox had a hand in one of the Academy goals.

Someone has to start the moves and despite the supplier of the final pass getting all the credit for an assist, goals wouldn't happen but for all the other contributions.

You are quite wrong. He did play a part and I didn't call it an assist.

He did. He played the ball to Oakley (who nearly knocked it out of play), who passed it to Fryatt.

Not a direct assist, but he did have a part to play in the goal.

It is very odd that people seem to get so upset whenever Thracian writes about King, Porter et al...and yet they carry on reading it each time, ignoring the irony that they repeat moans about his repeated praise.

I know which of the two I'd rather read.

Henderson 6- Nothing to do but good block from Tunchevs back pass.

Edworthy 7- Very steady game and will be good cover for Gilbert.

Kisnorbo N/A

Tunchev 8- The lads top class and liked the way he said sorry to the crowd after his back pass, did well with the Dyer goal to dig it out and pass it off.

Mattock 7- Good going forward but not so good in defence.

Oakley 9-My MOM, thats the best ive seen him.

King 8- Great goal and played well.

Berner 7-Not that bad but was sloppy sometimes.

Dyer 8-Brilliant assist good goal and that goal looks to have given him some more confidence now.

Fryatt 8- What a miss but made up for it with his performance, assist and good goal.

Howard 9- Great game for Stevie im really pleased for him deserved his standing ovation just needs a goal now, brilliant skill in the first half.

You are For King or not For King, you could be somewhat For King or partially For King. Personally, I like to be For King

And some people think they are holier than thou in every post they make, slating another person's posts at every opportunity and generally acting like a t wat.

From what I saw of the game on a dodgy tv somewhere in Spain, King and Oakley were much more effective because they appeared to have more room to move about in midfield. There was a lot more space.

Problem with those two is that as soon as you have a midfield that ruffs it up, denies space and operates far more physically, both of them get bossed out of it.

Well done Anish, another outstanding and highly readable contribution to the forum.

Is it worth pointing out that your use of parody by repeating my final line doesn't work seeing as you didn't set up a counterpoint in the previous sentence? Somehow I doubt you have the intelligence to grasp it so I won't. Now toddle along challenged one and go play with what toys you haven't thrown out of the pram.

I'm amazed at the sheer volume of cunts who are now on my ignore list this season - the Third Division really has drawn the cretins out of their little holes.

You mean they won more room. Leicester passed Stevenage into near submission.

There wasn't much room for the first 20 minutes and the changes to City's team didn't help us to start well.

But once Tunchev settled, instead of our recent approach of lumping the ball over and by the midfielders, almost everything possible was played to feet gradually leaving Stevenage to do more and more soul-destroying chasing.

Some of the close passing was a delight, and often in very tight confines but bit by bit Stevenage found the closing down and covering they had to do started taking its toll and spaces opened up.

There was one other thing that helped central midfield too. Edworthy and Mattock were available as sound receivers of the ball, being perfectly competent in keeping a move going instead of simply hoisting the ball forward hopefully.

We played that way earlier in the season so have shown ourselves capable of that approach even against Dvision One opposition. But you need the whole team tuned in to the tactic. And that's what we had yesterday and, significantly, for the first time in ages.

The answer to close marking is always to have preferably fast or at least reliable players constantly on the move and to pass the ball quicker not hoof it and give possession away.

Spoilers often lose heart as well as energy and concentration when they are left moving this way and that chasing elusive shadows that don't stay still long enough to be kicked.

I still think we need to work on our off-the-ball moving against any level of opposition.

Too many times, even yesterday, players sometimes stood waiting for a pass instead of making both selfish and selfless runs to offer an opportunity or to make some space to be exploited. It is something that could be the focus of a major effort in training because I'm quite sure it would be worth it.

Our team can play if it starts believing in itself and shows the determination to improve as a unit, and that includes some more work on the speed of our closing down which was pretty shabby in the first 20 minutes yesterday.

Intelligence, ha. You don't have a clue about me so I'd stop right there before you embarrass yourself further.

In case you didn't notice, I was on this site well before you showed up with your 'I'm bigger than this' attitude. Don't let facts get in the way of your abuse though, idiot.

Sometimes, your powers of expression are an art-form in itself.

If ever I needed a hitman it would have to be you I'd ring first.

The job would be done with such style and panache. :D

Marvelous!

I can see I have met my intellectual superior and will crawl back to my pit to lick my wounds and whatever else comes to hand.

Thankfully I'll not have to read such trite gibberish from you again.

Double idiot with knobs on.

Henderson 7 - Prefer him to Martin personally.

Edworthy 7 - Looks like a good addition to the squad, overlapping excellent.

Mattock 6.5 - For an England U21 left back got beaten by his man a little much for me.

Kisnorbo N/A

Tunchev 7.5 - Solid, looks to play football. Part of my favorite CB partnership with Morrison

Oakley 8 - Excellent today, appeared everywhere bringing the ball forward.

Dyer 8 - A bit quite at times but when he turns it on, well doesn't he turn it on?

Berner 7 - Strong, athletic. Again just what we need.

King 8 - Played well, loked threatening, took the ball forward!

Fryatt 8 - Solid performance, good goal but what a miss

Howard 7 - Hard working performance.

Morrison 7 - I really like this guy and like the way our team plays when he is in. I'd prefer him in the team to Hobbs and maybe even Kisnorbo

Campbell / Dickov - not on long enough to rate but good to see them back

Playing the ball five yards to someone else in your own half does not even count as a hand in a goal, blinkered cretin.
