dandannieldanok Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 Have to say I'm surprised at this, my initial reaction was that it was just Piquet's bitterness but I was completely wrong. Hopefully Renault get kicked out of the sport now, putting lives at risk like that is completely unacceptable.

Potential loss of life is far more serious than McLaren's 'Spygate', in my opinion.

I imagine they will quit to save face but I am not sure they will be allowed to as they signed up until 2012 (?) recently.
Brainy Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 If Briatore/Symonds were pushed out by Renault, then it looks as if they're keen to stay on in the sport into next year. Renault that is.
isaidno Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 I can't understand why Piquet opened his mouth. Before he opened it someone might have employed him next season. Who's going to sign the driver that crashes on purpose. His career is over.

Who's going to sign the driver that crashes on purpose. His career is over. He was hell bent on revenge so probably didn't think before opening his mouth. Tbh I doubt anyone would have signed him up anyway, he's pretty crap. I reckon he'll get banned for a year or two aswell.

Who's going to sign the driver that crashes on purpose. His career is over. A team who won't tell their driver to crash would probably be the team to take him on. Piquet proved himself in other formula's, so he does have potential. It's a combination of Piquet being quite bitter and his boss being a complete tosser. One of the new team's might take him on if he's not banned. From what i've read, he was treated like shit so I don't blame him for leaking what had happened. Funny also that Piquet had two of his best races after the Singapore GP.
hairy Posted 17 September 2009 Posted 17 September 2009 he was treated like shit so I don't blame him for leaking what had happened. What would you expect if you joined a team who have lost their form and whos other driver brought them success. Your not exactly going to be top dog in the team are you?
Brainy Posted 17 September 2009 Posted 17 September 2009 I'm pretty sure Piquet was treated much worse than just "the other driver". I can understand Alonso getting preferential treatment but with Piquet he was really treated like shit, according to himself that is.
hairy Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 Banned suspended until the contract runs out...... I tell you what is interesting...Massa was winning the Singapore GP over Hamilton by +10secs when Piquet crashed. It was only a fcuk-up by the pit team leaving the fuel connected to Massa's car that dropped him down the field, in a pitstop that was brought forward due to the crash. If Piquet hadn't crashed Massa could have won not only the race but be F1 Champion.
isaidno Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 South Korea to make 2010 F1 debut South Korea will host its first grand prix next year after being listed on a 19-race calendar published on Monday. The event, which will be held in Yeongam in the south-west of the country, is scheduled for 17 October. That makes it the third last race, with Abu Dhabi on 31 October and the climax in Brazil on 14 November. The Canadian Grand Prix returns after a year's absence but is listed as provisional pending the completion of contract negotiations. The British Grand Prix has an 11 July date. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has said that the British event will stay at Silverstone if Donington cannot fulfil its obligations. Bahrain has replaced the Australian Grand Prix as the season opener because Ecclestone wants to run the Melbourne event, which is slated for 28 March, at a time as friendly to European television audiences as possible. This year, the Australian race started at 1700 local time, which was 0700 BST. However, that would not be possible two weeks earlier as the clocks would still to have been changed from summer to winter time in Australia, and vice versa in Europe. The Malaysian race, a week after Australia, starts at 1600 local time, an hour earlier than this year's truncated event to give more time to finish the event in the event of delays. There are several other tweaks to the calendar from this year. Canada's return would be popular with F1 teams and fans The European Grand Prix at Valencia moves from this year's August date to 27 June in an attempt to avoid the high temperatures in Spain in late summer. The German Grand Prix is listed as being at Hockenheim, but there remain doubts over its finances. The full 2010 schedule is as follows: March 14 - Bahrain (Sakhir) March 28 - Australia (Melbourne) April 4 - Malaysia (Sepang) April 18 - China (Shanghai) May 9 - Spain (Barcelona) May 23 - Monaco (Monte Carlo) May 30 - Turkey (Istanbul) June 13 - Canada (Montreal) June 27 - Europe (Valencia) July 11 - Great Britain (Donington Park) July 25 - Germany (Hockenheim) August 1 - Hungary (Budapest) August 29 - Belgium (Spa-Francorchamps) September 12 - Italy (Monza) September 26 - Singapore (Singapore) October 3 - Japan (Suzuka) October 17 - South Korea (Yeongam) October 31 - Abu Dhabi (Yas Marina) November 14 - Brazil (Interlagos) 19 races is a bit over the top

isaidno Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Ferrari are poised to announce that double world champion Fernando Alonso will join the team for 2010.The Spaniard, 28, has signed a two-year contract with options to extend and will earn a salary in the region of 19-25 million euros (£17.3m-£22.8m). The deal, which has been widely expected in Formula 1 for some time, is likely to be made public this weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. He will partner Felipe Massa, with Kimi Raikkonen tipped to move to McLaren. The Finn had a contract with Ferrari until the end of 2010, but the team have been in negotiations to move him to another team. As part of the cascade of driver moves that will follow Alonso's switch, Pole Robert Kubica is tipped to fill the vacancy left by Alonso at Renault. Hamilton and Raikkonen as teammates next season will be interesting.
StanSP Posted 29 September 2009 Posted 29 September 2009 Massa's looking well . And feeling good by the sounds of it : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport...one/8278330.stm
AjcW Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Ferrari Have confirmed the signing of Fernando Alonso on a three year deal as of next year. Will post a link when available. Hopefully the rebirth of Alonso and the death of Renault.
AjcW Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Why do you want the death of Renault? Just dislike the whole race fixing thing, like the sport needed anymore dirt against its name.
Brainy Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Considering not everybody in the team knew about what had gone on, I think wishing death on the team as well as hundreds of people losing their jobs is a bit childish.
AjcW Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Considering not everybody in the team knew about what had gone on, I think wishing death on the team as well as hundreds of people losing their jobs is a bit childish. You know what I mean, I would just like them to change their ways and their style, I think you reading that much into it is a little extreme, I meant more the top end, the directors, a bit of a rebrand and a reshuffle and all will be well. I just want them to have owners who give a shit, maybe actually want the team to be competitive.
Asha Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Delighted with Alonso joining the team. Raikkonen doesn't appear to have the motivation to really push for another championship, which Alonso clearly still has. Glad to see Massa's making progress in recovering as well.
hairy Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 The team didn't fook up the pit stop, the electronic traffic light thing died. It might have failed safety car or no safety car. Told you it was coming, Massa saying he would have won the title
Asha Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Massa and Alonso next year YES Man! Delighted. Dream team.
StanSP Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 YES Man! Delighted. Dream team. Raikkonen seems to have followed the attitude that Hamilton was giving McLaren i.e. giving up and just racing for the fun of it. Next year, hopefully these two (Massa and Alonso), will put in more than KR has done this season, and shall be victorious
Brainy Posted 3 October 2009 Posted 3 October 2009 Will be interesting to see which driver wants their contract ripping up first eh.
