Brainy Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Monaco qualifying will be pathetic with 28 cars on the grid. That would be like one car every 2.70 seconds crossing the line
GLC Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Donington Park's hopes of staging the British grand prix in 2010 and beyond seem to be over as their latest plans to raise £135m have failed. Bernie Ecclestone has repeatedly extended their deadline, in the hope Donington Venture's Ltd owner, Simon Gillet could raise the required cash. A bond issue was launched for £110m (with the remaining £25m coming from other sources) which has now been withdrawn, ultimately signalling the end of their attempts to host the grand prix. Silverstone has been willing to step in and continue hosting the event, but on the basis that a long-term contract is offered. 1996 world champion Hill and president of the Silverstone-owning British Racing Drivers' Club, told the Daily Mail newspaper last week: "We have always said we are ready and prepared to host next summer's grand prix, but, frankly, in order to do this we would want a multi-year contract,
isaidno Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 It's never gonna happen, it never had a chance. Donington's sent me a P45 today, my work is no longer required at the circuit because of the building work. I just hope Bernie gives the Grand Prix back to Silverstone.
hairy Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 What will become of Donno now? No F1, no MotoGP and the circuit closed. Lets just hope Bernie and Silverstone get over their differences and we have an F1 event in Britain next year.
lavrentis Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Jenson Button to McClaren Would love it if this happens http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/8322334.stm
isaidno Posted 26 October 2009 Posted 26 October 2009 The Donington Park circuit appeared to move further away from its plans to host the 2010 British Grand Prix after the final deadline to sort its financial planning passed on Monday. The circuit had until midday today to solve the financial situation after admitting on Friday that efforts to raise a £135 million bond had failed. The deadline passed without news from the circuit. However, the 2010 British Grand Prix was dropped from the official Donington website. Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is already in talks with Silverstone in order to reach a deal for the British race to be on the calendar next year. BRDC president Damon Hill said on Monday that he was optimistic an agreement would be reached, but he made it clear Silverstone would not accept a deal that would hurt the track. "I'm confident a deal can be worked out. The contract can be of any combination of years, but it has to be affordable," Hill told the BBC. "There's a huge desire to get the deal done, but we're not prepared to put [silverstone] at risk financially." I heard on the news that Donington will have to pay Ecclestone a £50m cancellation fee
Wycombe Fox Posted 29 October 2009 Posted 29 October 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport...one/8331563.stm Nico Rosberg has revealed that he is leaving Williams at the end of the season, with the German driver expected to race for Brawn GP in 2010.The 24-year-old would not comment when asked to confirm that he had done a deal with Brawn's engine supplier Mercedes, which had secured him a seat. "It is my last race for Williams so it's a bit strange," he said, ahead of Sunday's final 2009 race in Abu Dhabi. Rosberg is likely to swap places with Brawn's veteran Rubens Barrichello.

Asha Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Vettel wins the final race in Abu Dhabi, with Webber second and Button third. Fair play to Brawn and Red Bull, easily the best teams this year. But Alonso and Massa will be the dream team next year, and Ferrari will win both championships in 2010.

And in general, the rules are changing again - should make for some interesting F1 nextyear
Brainy Posted 1 November 2009 Posted 1 November 2009 Tbf BMW worked on their '09 car for nearly a year and completely flopped. Ferrari have made enough cock-ups recently to give me confidence that they won't walk it.

But it should hopefully be a better season than this was, with four of five teams in with a chance of regular victories.
isaidno Posted 2 November 2009 Posted 2 November 2009 Brazilian veteran Rubens Barrichello and German rookie Nico Hulkenberg have been announced as Williams' new driver pairing for the 2010 Formula 1 season. The duo come in for German driver Nico Rosberg, who is set to replace 37-year-old Barrichello at Brawn GP, and Japan's Kazuki Nakajima. Hulkenberg, 22, was Williams' test and reserve driver this season. Barrichello was third in this year's drivers' championship, with Brawn team-mate Jenson Button taking the title. Barrichello was in contention for the championship until the penultimate race in Brazil and finished the season 18 points adrift of Button, and seven behind the runner-up, Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. He spent six years as Michael Schumacher's team-mate at Ferrari, finishing runner-up in the championship to the German in 2002 and 2004. He had previously driven for the Jordan and Stewart teams, and left Ferrari to join Honda in 2006, being kept on when the team was turned into Brawn last winter. Barrichello is renowned as an excellent test driver, and is one of the most popular characters in F1. Team principal Frank Williams said: "He is not only the most experienced driver in Formula 1 but a passionate and talented driver who fought hard for the drivers' championship this year. "Nico Hulkenberg won the GP2 Championship this season as a rookie and has previously won the F3 Euroseries, Formula Masters, A1 GP and Formula BMW Germany." Nakajima ended the season in Abu Dhabi on Sunday with the unfortunate distinction of completing all 17 races without scoring a point. Barrichello entered F1 in 1993 - a year before his close friend and compatriot Ayrton Senna was killed after a crash in a Williams car at Imola - and will be the first race winner to drive for the team since Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya and Germany's Ralf Schumacher in 2004. Williams, who have not won anything since 2004, will be Barrichello's sixth team. "I am very hopeful of having a very competitive car next year, so that is what I want from myself. I want to go on and keep on winning," Barrichello said. Barrichello is Formula 1's most experienced driver, with a record 285 races to his name and 11 victories. He is now on course to become the first driver to have started 300 grands prix. Williams announced over the weekend that they would be switching from Toyota to Cosworth engines next year. 2 good signings for Williams. I like the look of Hulkenberg, he's got a brilliant record
Wycombe Fox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_new...es_art_id=39520 The Japanese media is claiming that Toyota is to announce its withdrawal from F1 within the next 24 hours, as the country turns its back on the sport.Despite numerous denials from the Cologne-based team, the Mainichi Daily newspaper claims that the Japanese manufacturer has already decided to withdraw from F1, following Honda and (tyre manufacturer) Bridgestone. Toyota president Akio Toyoda is due to begin a four-day meeting of the board tomorrow (Wednesday) however, it is understood that a decision regarding the company's involvement in F1 has already been made. It is understood an official statement will be made at 17:00 (local time) 08:00 (GMT). According to some sources, as opposed to a total withdrawal, in an effort to safeguard jobs, a number of proposals are being looked at including the possibility of a management led buy-out. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport...one/8341602.stm
isaidno Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 I work for Toyota. We had a 5 page bulletin explaining the pull out come through this morning. Bridgestone are pulling out aswell, at the end of 2010

Wycombe Fox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Is it not three? Ferrari, Lotus and McLaren?
AjcW Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Well if renault quit altogether then Red Bull and Brawn will be rather screwed wont they.
Wycombe Fox Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Well if renault quit altogether then Red Bull and Brawn will be rather screwed wont they. Brawn use Mercedes engines and I believe Red Bull are getting them next season too (but I may be wrong on that one!)
AjcW Posted 4 November 2009 Posted 4 November 2009 Brawn use Mercedes engines and I believe Red Bull are getting them next season too (but I may be wrong on that one!) ahh fair enough. I knew Red bull were renault wasnt sure about brawn.
