Samilktray Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Rud out for the season think he might make a move in June. Based on...
Tevez Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Owen scored 18 goals from 41 games, 15 of which were starts Yeah not bad considering La Liga is an attacking league. My report is: Ok, could be better. Especially of Owens standard. He also did get booted out by Julio Baptista!!!!
lavrentis Posted 2 December 2008 Posted 2 December 2008 Its all about UD Marbella. I'm sure MarbellaDave will agree with me.
lildave3 Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 I guess it's just me that thinks he's shit then. I don't think he's shit, but I do think he's overrated. Not as good as RVN anyway.
Finnegan Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Ruud van Nistelrooy's had years to perfect his art, experience in top leagues across Europe and time playing under one of the best managers in World Football. You can't really compare their relative levels of development yet, of course RVN's going to come out on top. I doubt there are too many posters on this forum that new a lot about Ruud before he made his break at Man Utd so giving Huntelaar the same time to prove himself and grow as a player seems only fair. That said, I don't really see what the fuss is about.
CosbehFox Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 I don't see how anyone can write off Huntelaar...his record in Holland is superb, his record for Holland's superb until he tries elsewhere you can't really knock the lad.
Ric Flair Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Read this - http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/...ropean-footballNicely put PSV are also hoping to bring Swedish forward Ola Toivonen over from Malmo FF, who previously put Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Markus Rosenberg and Afonso Alves on the train to the Netherlands. Now that boy Toivonen, is going to be a player and a half.
Alexikokopops Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Well we'll finally see whether he's actually good enough for a top class league. The Dutch league has fallen dramatically in terms of class in the last decade. Exactly what I was about to say. He's certianly got something about him, I really hope he makes the grade at Madrid. Seems like he's got a good attitude. Still, 33 goals in 34 games is pretty good.
CosbehFox Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Now that boy Toivonen, is going to be a player and a half. He should join Ajax or Feyenoord then so I can see him play.
Floating Fox Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Rud out for the season think he might make a move in June. The article says he's ruled out until early 2009, and that he'll officially become a Madrid player at the turn of the year.
Darkzzz_ Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Dutch Eredivisie is crap. I don't think it is that bad. I would say it is certainly behind the Premiership, La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga but I have been entertained by some of the dutch games I have seen. My favourite dutch team would have to be Ajax I suppose.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I guess it's just me that thinks he's shit then. Nope. I'm with you. Bit of a Cassano signing cannot see him producing the goods for Madrid but hopefully he can prove me worng. Got all the attributes but the Dutch League is pretty weak in comparison to La Liga. He has an impressive scoring record for Holland hasnt he?

According to Wikipedia he's got 10 goals in 18 games for Holland, with 79 goals in 97 games for Ajax.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 According to Wikipedia he's got 10 goals in 18 games for Holland, with 79 goals in 97 games for Ajax. That is pretty impressive. But his career won't be looked back on for his scoring record for Ajax it will be this move to Real. Scores for fun then everyone will talk about his scoring records for Ajax and Madrid but if he fails then nobody apart from the Dutch will probably ever mention it. Happened with Kezman when he went to Chelsea and Kuyt at Liverpool. Scored for fun in Holland but havent in England and nobody mentions their success in Holland. Starting to happen with Alves at Boro.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Thing with Cassano though Albert was his attitude. Under someone strict like Capello it was never going to work. He had the talent to make it in La Liga, but never applied himself. Hopefully Huntelaar is a bit different.

Hmm, La Liga might be a "better" league full of "better" players - but defensively it's light years behind the Premiership. It's got to be one of the best leagues in Europe for a confident young striker to go and ply his trade. Diego Forlan's the classic example, really. I'm not for one moment suggesting he isn't a quality striker, and maybe he just had a rough time of it here, but nor is he the best striker in the world - but he's certainly got some impressive figures in Spain.

Ow I know the defenders in the Premier League are much better than La Liga's but I just hope the same trouble wont happen with Huntelaar as it did with Cassano and a few others like Sinama-Pongolle (Liverpool). He was tipped to pretty big in the Premier League but didnt and then went to Betis I think and now at Ath. Madrid and still hasnt performed to his heights expected from him. Hopefully Huntelaar can perform in Spain but I do not think he is good enough for Madrid.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Pongolle is rated at Atletico. Exactly. He was at Anfield but he hasn't performed to the highest level at Madrid has he? Don't get me wrong but he will grab a few goals but he can'c consistently score for fun like Forlan can in La Liga.

Scored 4 in his first 5 games, and represented France this year.
