Dan Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Also, Colchester was a midweek match, and we still took over a thousand, a fifth of the overall attendance. If it had been a Saturday, I'm confident the away end would have been just about full. I forgot to mention that Swindon away the stand behind the goal looked pretty poor. Heres the real loyalty test, will we sell out our 1,500 for Carlisle?

Daggers Posted 3 December 2008 Author Posted 3 December 2008 Anyone believing that we were more successful last season needs to explain to me 'how?' I can not figure how 4,000-odd per week happily sat through the turgid crap we suffered for the last few seasons and yet now we are playing more attacking football, winning matches and scoring a truckload of goals they think "Oh no, I'm not paying £23 for that!" Moreover, we (apparently) laid on a feast of attacking football for the first match of the season and yet the four thousand weren't convinced enough to come back. I think we need more stuff to moan about - that'd draw them back in.

Loads of people had ST's last year and refused to renew in the aftermath of our relegation, in fear of us doing a Forest (3 seasons in League 1). In hindsight, I think many do regret not renewing their season ticket. I personally know quite a number of folks who wish they had done so.
Daggers Posted 3 December 2008 Author Posted 3 December 2008 £23 Leeds currently have similar home crowds to those they were pulling in 2006/7 in the Championship. Last season, their first in Div III, they 'suffered' from an extra 6,000-odd per game. Have you seen their ticket prices? I do not believe the cost of home games at the Walkers is a primary cause because it certainly isn't in Yorkshire.
Fosse Boy Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Leeds are a bigger club than us, FACT. Or fiction? I doubt that Leeds could ever win the Westerby Cup...
Nationwider Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 A boring answer would be that the rising cost of living is deterring families in particular from attending. If 500 four-person families decide that the gas and electric bills are getting horrendous this winter, that's 2K off the gate for starters. League One football is the perfect excuse to cut back c.£100 each month, safe in the knowledge (maybe) that Newcastle, West Ham, Derby and Coventry await next season. The home attendances are in contrast to the seriously impressive away followings this season. I imagine that, amongst the hardcore, the candle is burning brighter than ever this season. The "grin and bear it" mentality has come through loud and clear in this forum anyway.
Daggers Posted 3 December 2008 Author Posted 3 December 2008 Leeds are a bigger club than us, FACT. Does that mean their supporters are not subjected to the same economic conditions some are citing as the reason for the fall in our attendance?
Matt Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 We may have dropped in attendances, but we still have better attendances than alot/most Championship teams (And some Premiership teams? Maybe?) Wait till later in the season when hopefully a promotion push is clear and we are close to going up and they'll be back. Just be proud you can say "I was there through thick and thin" I saw us in our "heyday" in the Premiership, I saw us get relegated to the third tier for our first and (hopefully) last time.
Zingari Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Does that mean their supporters are not subjected to the same economic conditions some are citing as the reason for the fall in our attendance? i reckon it does, as none of those fookers work anyway and are largely unaffected by economic changes as they continue to collect their fat dole cheques
potter3 Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 I got 99 problems but the bitch ain't one. If you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son.
Nationwider Posted 3 December 2008 Posted 3 December 2008 Leeds average home gate is down 3,000 on last season. Us and Leeds are both filling our grounds to 59% of capacity. I wish to challenge for Statto of the Year in the FT awards. A vote for me is a vote for freedom.

I went to Leeds v Cheltenham last season, and it cost £15 for adults. It's £27 for you I believe because it is a category A game. I'm worried that it'll be the same for us by the time we play them too.
