JakeShingler Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I most certainly do, he may be number one but I'd get rid asap, if it was down to me I'd flog the flapper and logan and get in a proper goalie, one of those ones who command the box.At least Martin can still improve. Fair point. Obvo Logan needs to go(Or retire)Buti still think Hendo Is by far better than Martin who is to clumsy and makes stupid mistake for no reason.
Jimmy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Fair point. Obvo Logan needs to go(Or retire)Buti still think Hendo Is by far better than Martin who is to clumsy and makes stupid mistake for no reason. Hendo and Martin are about the same, the difference is hendo is about at his peak as a player, Martin will improve a lot, if we could get him on a free I'd sign Martin as a No 2 for next season and have someone like Joe Lewis (if we could get him) as the number 1
Alexikokopops Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Just thinking with David Martin going back up to scouse land in a couple of weeks and logan going it surely suggests a new GK will be on there way in any thoughts on who?? Will Hendo keep in place as 1st choice or will NP get someone better in so we'll see Hendo dropping back to his regular place on the bench. Ild love to see Shaka Hislop,Nigel Spackman.....oh right its 2008 I saw on the Skysports site we were after a young blackburn keeper yet so were alot of prem clubs. My moneys on Clayton Ince at Walsall/Russle Hoult Notts County not the best keeper but very experienced Wasn't Nigel Spackman a midfielder?

I'm not to sure.
Jimmy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Do you really think we could get him on a free tho? I'm not to sure. well he won't be making it at Liverpool so I think we can get him cheaply, probably not free but you never know
JakeShingler Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 well he won't be making it at Liverpool so I think we can get him cheaply, probably not free but you never know True. If we do get promoted do you think he will be able to handle the championship?
Jimmy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 like I said he would be my no 2 behind someone like Joe Lewis, he is a more than able back up and he WILL get better
Uncle Albert Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 True. If we do get promoted do you think he will be able to handle the championship? Yes.
Alf Bentley Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I don't know where these "flapper" comments about Henderson come from. I've seen him make very few serious errors and do very little flapping at crosses. He's a good, solid keeper: decent shot stopper, decisive, good physical presence, comes out well to control his area and even his distribution seems to be getting better. I reckon that if we can renew Martin's loan period, then we're well set for keepers for the rest of the season and no need to think of anyone new. Martin is probably more agile and maybe a better shot stopper than Henderson, but less command of his area and probably distribution needs improving...but he's young and will improve, so might well be a good option long-term, though I can't see Liverpool letting him go on a free transfer! If the club can get a few quid for Logan, so much the better. Timing is wrong to be throwing Cisak into the fray, unless he's of genuinely exceptional ability.
Ric Flair Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Wasn't Nigel Spackman a midfielder? Yes, I don't even think the chap ever even put the gloves on when his teams goalie's had been sent off. No idea what Cornetto is on, i'd like a nip of it though.

You've obviously only been going this season.
Alf Bentley Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I was going irregularly last couple of seasons, regularly this season. Maybe I just missed his bad days, then, but he's looked fine to me both this season and previously.
Jonezy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 We do need a proper number one goalie, but like DavieG I think the smart move is to wait for the summer, when we know our league status.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Ric, the 'keeper from Blackburn we have been linked with is Jason Brown. He has featured a few times for Blackburn this season and looked half decent. He's been linked with a host of Championship clubs as well as City. He is not young though, as mentioned. He is 26, and it seems like a move would only come off if Blackburn are in for Willy Gueret. Brown Interest Mounts
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 4 December 2008 Author Posted 4 December 2008 NIGEL SPINK!! i ment spink not spackman D'oh! Forgive me folks
Paddy Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 I most certainly do, he may be number one but I'd get rid asap, if it was down to me I'd flog the flapper and logan and get in a proper goalie, one of those ones who command the box.At least Martin can still improve. flapper? what is it you have got against the bloke? did you see one bad game and judge him on that? Very rarely has he cost us points when he's been playing.
lcfcliam Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 WE WANT PAUL HENDERSON! WE WANT PAUL HENDERSON! CITYS NUMBER 1 CITYS CITYS NUMBER 1
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 December 2008 Posted 4 December 2008 Surely Martin is adequate enough back up for Henderson at this level?
boneman Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Henderson's contract runs out this summer, I suspect we'll either renew Martin's loan or get a new loanee in January and then make decision on goalkeepers along with several other positions when we know what League we'll be in next year. With Keane gone FULOP might be an option...Roy was a right twat in dealing with us last season!
Father Ted Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 It's Martinhttp://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?b...6269754|p|536|0 What the bloody hell?!?! We can do a million times better than him and what a crap article by Blanderson, "Martin has proved his worth on many occassions" - Whatever! Plus, I'd much rather like to see Cisak be given a go.
Rich_Sheffield Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 There can only be one solution...FULOP! would love Fulop but I can't see him ever playing for Leicester again
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 December 2008 Posted 5 December 2008 Martin really isn't bad back up. As good as could be hoped for in this division.
Koke Posted 7 December 2008 Posted 7 December 2008 Martin has done well the last few games. Good thing about him is that he's only 22 and can still improve. Keepers don't usually peak till their thirties. I would certainly extend his loan deal till the summer, and then take it from there.
