How good was Henry?

The dog's but always call Bergkamp the best Premiership player. He floated on water, a master of the ball.

Are you Stuart Hall? :D

Quite simply a world class player, who is the best finisher the Premiership has ever seen. Cantona, Zola and Bergkamp were all amazing players and I loved them all, but Henry's prolificness and sheer genius in front of goal set's him apart from those 3 IMO.

I still belive Ole Gunner takes some beating for pure finishing quality

Well that was just overrated.

Disagree. I think most spectacular long shots are overrated, what I really love to see in football is players with the sheer audacity to try something unconventional. To me, the haulmark of a good footballer is having the vision and the confidence to do something necessary to get the job done. What made the backheel special was that, with his back to goal, marked, at an "impossible" angle he still had the foresight to try it and pull it off. Sure there are kids all around the world that could have done that on the playground - but he had the awareness to do it infront of 30'000 people under pressure.

Fantastic.

He's no Louis Dodds.

Andy Cole at Newcastle would be hard to beat.

And Jan Aage Fjortoft.

He never played up front for Arsenal - but we should be pushing this thread towards ex Swindon legends. I mean we all hate them for beating us 4-3 etc but come on - Jan Aage, Fraser.... erm?

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't see how anyone can pick any of those three ahead of Henry, despite their brilliance. The guy scored just as brilliant goals as Bergkamp, and a bucketload more of 'em. And yes, he was a better finisher than Shearer, Robbie and Solskjaer. I've not seen a player that could single-handedly win games on his own as often as Henry, and he basically had all the qualities you could ask from a striker. Frightening shift of pace, imposing strength, brilliant technique and movement, incredible audacity and composure, even decent in the air and one of the deadliest finishes you'll ever see. Not any of the other players named can match that.

Henry was more than brilliant. He scored loads of goals, and plenty of spectacular ones at that. Better finisher than Shearer, and if Henry decided to finish his career in the Premiership he would have surpassed Shearer in terms of goals.

Best player the Premiership has seen. Better than the genius Bergkamp, and Cantona and Zola.
