Brainy Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 The Blue Square North outfit were losing 2-0 with just 18 minutes remaining when the floodlights failed at their Butchers Arms ground on Tuesday night, forcing the second-round clash to be called off for a second time. The first meeting between the two sides last month was also abandoned due to fog at Saltergate. When the teams met in the rearranged match, Chesterfield allowed Droylsden to equalise with an uncontested goal. The act of fair play came after Jack Lester scored straight after a throw-in instead of handing the ball back to the Droylsden goalkeeper. Labour member Toby Perkins has written to Droylsden asking them to forfeit the tie and said: "Following Chesterfield's decision to 'allow' Droylsden to equalise in the second match it has been seen as an example of the spirit of fairness that epitomises all that is good about the FA Cup. "Now Droylsden have the chance to do the same. I sincerely hope they will show the same good spirit and do the right thing and forfeit the tie. "If instead Droylsden progress to the third round to play Ipswich it will blacken their name and their exciting cup run will instead be tainted with suspicion and shame." Wouldn't it have been better to let Droylsden score straight from kick off?? That way, the game could have been settled in the first tie and it wouldn't have to had to gone to another replay. A cup run would mean the world to a club the size of Droylsden. What a complete twat.

What a complete twat. they did I think you are getting confused.... The first match was abandoned due to fog The replayed first match was a draw with Droylsden given a goal after Jack Lester made a back pass without looking and curled it into the top corner. The replay of the first match was abandoned due to floodlight failure. That MP as usual is talking bollocks though why should they forfeit the match if Lester hadn't scored from an uncontested back pass then they wouldn't have had to let me score
Brainy Posted 19 December 2008 Author Posted 19 December 2008 That all sounds right, except I thought that Chesterfield let Droylsden score in the last ten minutes of the second match that finished 2-2. I think!! Tuesday, 9 December 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chesterfield Ward 31 Lester 79 2-2 (HT 1-0) Droylsden Brown 50 Halford 82 Yeah, I thought that Chesterfield let Halford walk the ball into the net late on??

I think!! No it was almost straight away I say almost as they all had a bit of a fight after Lester scored involving just about everyone

What a complete twat. You haven't met or encounted Droylsden's manager then? By the way if you had a bet on the game, you'd have been paid out on a Chesterfield win.
Corky Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 These two should move to the Scottish league. They play every other team four times.
potter3 Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 Is it just me that is completely confused by the opening 2 paragraphs?
fox123 Posted 23 December 2008 Posted 23 December 2008 Droylsden won the replay 2-1 after watching some of the interviews after the previous matches Chesterfield will be fuming
Lovejoy Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Their manager is a b3llend, therefore I don't like them.
DB11 Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Their manager is a b3llend, therefore I don't like them. Who's manager?
Corky Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Who's manager? Droylesden's I presume. He didn't come across very well in his interviews.
Fox You Forest Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 It's not over yet the player who scored both there goals may have been ineligible.
kidder_wolf Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 It's not over yet the player who scored both there goals may have been ineligible. Sean Newton (not our ex player) picked up his 5 booking on the 9th of Dec and should have been banned for yesterdays match according to the FA suspension list. They are investigating the claim, Cant they just look at their website?
C-man Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Has there ever been a more farcical F.A. Cup tie than this?
DB11 Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 The Droylsden manager said if they are kicked out of the FA Cup he would jump off a bridge What a tool - oh how I'd love for them to be kicked out now to see if he really means it
Father Ted Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 Has there ever been a more farcical F.A. Cup tie than this? Well, Lochee United v Ayr United in the Scottish cup the other week went to a replay and was postponed 5 times due to waterlogged pitch!
Ultra Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 The Droylsden manager said if they are kicked out of the FA Cup he would jump off a bridge What a tool - oh how I'd love for them to be kicked out now to see if he really means it It doesn't look good for him. When a similar thing happened to Bury a couple of seasons ago, they were kicked out of the cup. Apparently Droylsden thought the ban would start on Boxing Day. It didn't - it starts on the first game 14 days after the 5th booking. I don't think they have a leg to stand on.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Why don't they just replay the game!
kidder_wolf Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Why don't they just replay the game! That would be funny to see them play again But rules are rules and Droylsden will be kicked out of the FA cup on monday, Droyslden will appeal just to mess up Chesterfields tie with Ipswich. They will lose the appeal moan about West Ham, Sheff utd and Tevez and then give up.
Jon the Hat Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 I'm sure I read something the other day about how replays are not covered in the suspension rules.
