Guest Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Rather than making documentaries about him, and thrusting him further into the spotlight, shouldn't the media and the public be leaving the bloke alone?
fox123 Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20081227/tuk-g...12-6323e80.html For a 12 year old to come out with things like that is very sad. I hope for his sake he reads that and once and for all kicks his habits.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 It will more than likely end in death. The guy is a right state. Beyond help. Great player but haunted by his demons.
Webbo Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 When I opened this thread I thought it would be someone slagging Israel.
Lovejoy Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Rather than making documentaries about him, and thrusting him further into the spotlight, shouldn't the media and the public be leaving the bloke alone? Like journo's care. Anything for a story .
Thracian Posted 27 December 2008 Author Posted 27 December 2008 http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20081227/tuk-g...12-6323e80.html Alas, once the media happen on a wounded victim, they're like sharks in a feeding frenzy......
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 It will more than likely end in death. The guy is a right state. Beyond help. Great player but haunted by his demons. Can I just ask Nathko - if it doesn't end in death, what are the other slimer posiblities?
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Can I just ask Nathko - if it doesn't end in death, what are the other slimer posiblities? It would be wrong of me to predict any other outcome. That is how much I fear for him. If death misses the great man, I am guessing he will go into exile, until the British media track him down and pour even more misery on this sad story.
Daggers Posted 27 December 2008 Posted 27 December 2008 Rather than making documentaries about him, and thrusting him further into the spotlight, shouldn't the media and the public be leaving the bloke alone? Rather than being media whores - couldn't his relations simply not grant interviews to the press pack? Contrast this whole ongoing sorry tale with the way in which Amy Winehouse's family have dealt with her problems. A polite 'fuck off, we are dealing with this in-house thanks' is all the press repeatedly get off them. My heart goes out to the relations of alcoholics, it's a terrible and unrelenting millstone - but giving media interviews really isn't any way to deal with it.

I do agree with what you are saying here, but, I am wondering if there is a psychological factor behind the release of the comments by the kid. Maybe it is coming to a situation where no one can help the chap, and, as a last ditch attempt to get some reality into his alienated head, they have resorted to using his kid to give him a kick where is needed. I don't have a son, but I would imagine, as a father, (especially of Gascoigne's Footballing background) you would want your son to follow in your footsteps. Reading that, what your son has said about you in the national press would certainly get you thinking.

True, I forgot to mention their role in all of this.

Whilst very eloquent, they were not saying anything greatly different to young Regan. The difference was that these were words direct from the mouth rather than an attention seeking journo who we all know will write what they want.
Finnegan Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Rather than making documentaries about him, and thrusting him further into the spotlight, shouldn't the media and the public be leaving the bloke alone? There's a decent South Park episode about that centered around Britney Spears.

The last one I heard was Gran pleading with people to piss off and let them deal with it in private.

Daggers Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 Reading that, what your son has said about you in the national press would certainly get you thinking. From personal experience - you could have the Dagenham Girl's Marching Band walking through the front room while messages are relayed onto the wall by laser being read out on the PA system by Brad Pitt and it'd still make no difference if the alcoholic isn't ready to listen. It's harsh and it hurts, but alcoholics are total ****heads to their family's.
Hullfox Posted 28 December 2008 Posted 28 December 2008 it'd still make no difference if the alcoholic isn't ready to listen. And that is the crux of the whole situation.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Did anyone watch this last night? Was not a fan of Gazza's youngest lad.
Tevez Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Couldn't bear to watch this last night. Horrible seeing a Footballing Legend/Idol like how it is.
purpleronnie Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 I watched it last night very sad. I felt for the kids and the years of stress have not been kind on his wife (ex), she was completely drained and looked like an old woman. Surprised me that the mirror today had a go at Sheryl, not sure how much more she could have done, she stayed with a violent drunk man for the kids and still did everything she could to help, there has to be a time when enoughs enough. On a unrelated note, how hot is Gazzas step daughter. WOW.
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Did anyone watch this last night? Was not a fan of Gazza's youngest lad. Yeah tell me about it.
Uncle Albert Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 Yeah tell me about it. You being sarcastic or?
Darkzzz_ Posted 6 January 2009 Posted 6 January 2009 You being sarcastic or? For once I am being serious. The kid was a complete loon.
