Amusing interview with the lad on LCFC World. He reckons the pink boots aren't his choice, but down to his sponsorship with Nike.

I really hope he plays tomorrow night and finally delivers the end product he is capable of, if he get's a goal I think a lot more will follow as he really doesn't give a fook about the opposition and when he's confident he'll be dangerous.

Should start ahead of Lloyd tomorrow IMO, the left wing is where he belongs and Dyer could do with a rest.

Agreed. It's time Lloyd sat on the sidelines for a game or two I think. Gradel deserves another chance, and I hope he takes it well. It's not like he hasn't had previous success on the left wing either, he's showed his capabilities with Bournemouth.

I think he'll start tomorrow, Pearson tends to rest one of two for these cup games, possibly Oakley.

Dyer is due a stormer though.

Would like to see both play some part, even if it IS half each.

Or play one of them through the middle and rest Fryatt again as he's probably still not the full business from this injury. Fryatt's work is needed in the league and if we need a goal then bring him on with 30 to go.

We'll manage this one tomorrow, i'm going to wear a tracksuit and shoes like Gradel apparently does according to The Sun on Saturday, it had an interview with Kisnorbo and the worst dresser at the club is Maxi. Hayles ain't keen on any extra training either, does his bit and fooks off.

I think he'll play. So much potential.

Don't know if anyone agrees with me, but, i have noticed that when he has acres of space infront of him to break, he tends to slow down, let the defender get back then try and beat him. An area of his game he could improve on to be more effective.

I'd sooner see him picked for a game that matters - in the League.

Tomorrow is a poisoned challice.

If he plays well and it will be a Mickey Mouse match.

If he plays badly for whatever reason he'll be "not up to it" in the eyes of his detractors.

If I were Pearson I'd do exactly what I did against Orient. Let Dyer start and leave Gradel to rebuild his confidence and experience gradually.

You guys are blinkered! i know i am going to get slated for this but this guy is awful.

Has no football brain and cant beat a player on the wing, calls for him to replace dyer is crazy.

Agreed Dyer not performing to the highest ability, however Gradel cannot replace him. The answer is either bring in a replacement or stick with Dyer and hope he turns it round. Granted Gradel does give 100%

But what's the point of sticking with a player who's been horribly under-performing for two months?

i agree he has, which is why i mentioned a possible replacement. No point replacing with a worse option

I wonder if any young player would ever break through to first team football with your attitude. The truth is that both Gradel and Dyer are good players in their respective ways and, thankfully, Pearson seems to know that.

Dyer was scoring for fun during the first couple of months of our campaign and he hasn't suddenly lost his ability.

And for all of Gradel's moderate start he's still at the top of our assists chart and it is in part the huge contribution of ALL our midfield players which has done so much to take us to the top of the table. Just as it was the lack of a midfield contribution last season that did so much to scupper us.

The last priority we have is for another winger. From a situation where we had none last season we now have Gradel, Dyer, Porter and Adams.

There are plenty of positions need boosting or covering ahead of our wingers and suggestions that Gradel has no football brain are nonsense as his relatively massive three year contract at the club seems to indicate quite well.

Gradel had enough brain when he got kicked from pillar to post against Sunderland and did so much to help win us the Academy play-offs. He had enough brain to score a goal a week for half a season. He had enough brain to be a mini hero at Bournemouth and get a 10 rating against Crewe togther with a plea from them that he go there.

It's years since we had anyone with Gradel's football brain, or more properly, his instincts on the wing at Leicester. Despite his mistakes he's still made lots of goals and almost made others. Against Orienty the whole match perked up when he came on and not for the first time.

Even the players including Powell only last week, refer to his brilliance. If Gradel was an idler who only played pretty football and did sod-all to help out I could understand the knockers. But he works himself to a standstill. Indeed sometimes he tries to do too much. And that will change with guidance.

Just as Ronaldo went up blind alleys and made the wrong choices when he moved to United, so I am quite sure Gradel will learn to make his skills more deadly.

He will learn to mix individualism with teamwork more effectively and when he does half the teams in England will want his services because Gradel is always going to be good value and people should perhaps try to look harder at the good things he does and the effect he can have instead of blindly pulling him to pieces.

I did see him once on Saturday take a defender on twice in the penalty box when he should have got his shot away.

But on other occasions he caused mayhem and on one particular occasion had to slow down as he broke into central midfield to wait for some runners who never arrived to join him.

Not long afterwards he played the ball into open space beyong his marker only to be blatantly body checked on the halfway line, an incident the referee chose to completely ignore.

That would have been the third or fourth time he'd left the full-back for dead while Dyer struggled to make any inroads all afternoon until his substitution.

That's not to discount your point. Gradel needs to be a bit more ruthless in hurting the opposition. In other words to work his magic sparingly and where it hurts most. But that doesn't justify the criticsm. For all his inexperience Gradel has done more for our team in his first bit-part season than all our wingers put together over the previous four years.

Believe it or not I was actually speaking to Maxi on MSN the other night. Ask NSLL ;)

He said that he has JUST got back to playing - so that suggests he's been injured or something and we haven't known :dunno: He also said that he just needs us fans to be a bit more patient and the best is still to come. Also, his best mate is Andy King  He wouldn't tell me any gossip though although we had a good chat ;)

I thought that against Orient he did look as if he was back into some form, however he needs to show his abilities in a LCFC shirt. He has only really reached our expectations of last season vs Fulham where he was excellent, however something must have happend after then as his perormances were without confidence and the assurance that he knew that he could beat his man.

From what I saw in the last game he should be given an oppertunity soon, I don't care when as long as we offer this very tallented player good opertunities so he can blossom into the player that we thought he would become.

Maybe it was family trouble.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a criticism of the lad, i love the lad. I'm always dissappointed when he doesn't make a matchday squad. Hoepfully he can regain the from he was showing against MK Dons, Fulham etc... And i'm sure he will.
