Finnegan Posted 21 January 2009 Author Posted 21 January 2009 Like they'd play in any other colour. <_< In the middle of Greater Manchester?
Leeds Scum Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 In the middle of Greater Manchester? Whenever we go there we basically turn into into a home venue anyway. Stovkport for example.

Big Bad Fox Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 ah shit, they're voting for the crappy ones
StanSP Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 ah shit, they're voting for the crappy ones It's alright. Apparently they have a way of distinguishing wankers like Leeds Scum and real supporters.
leicesterseddon Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 i have been thinking about this whole kit vote thing and have now decided that it doesn't matter. i am certain the club have had difficulty (like many other clubs) in securing a worthwhile sponsorship deal for next season and was facing the prospect of a blank shirt anyway. i am sure now that our shirt will be blank next season irrespective of what the result of this poll is; the poll just allows the club to sell the shirt to the fans as 'their' shirt and thus make up some of the lost revenue by selling more. i still suppose other fans will vote, but i suspect that the whole ridiculous thing won't matter in the end. the whole thing just seems like something of a joke, coming out of nowhere and with no proper voting system. if the club wanted a proper vote they'd have done the thing completly differently.
Finnegan Posted 21 January 2009 Author Posted 21 January 2009 Meh, sorry, all this "we couldn't get a shirt sponsor" stuff is rubbish. EVERYONE can get a shirt sponsor for a bit of extra revenue, it isn't difficult. You can be down on our club all you want, if every club in the three or four leagues below us can get a sponsor - so could we. This is a marketing scam and it is about money just as much as it's about the fans, but it isn't a symbol of failure and people need to stop being so incredibly pesimistic about it.

Well if West Brom, a Premier League club, can't attract a decent sponsor there's no need for us to feel too bad. Any step towards de-commercialisation of our club is welcome. I hope this continues until our stadium is known as Filbert Way.

Finnegan Posted 21 January 2009 Author Posted 21 January 2009 West Brom had a sponsor, the deal just fell through just before the start of the season. I'm quite sure that if they wanted to do a sponsorship deal they could quite easily, with any number of businesses.
Tommeh Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 lol Just seen one of the pinned topics on this site, a warning about links to porn sites and a while back there was a thread entitled "post you're fit facebook friends" so basically its just 10,000 whites needing a bit of filth to whack off to! Got nothing on the chebs thread boys!! Actually had a fair amount of respect for these flids but thats now a bit like their play-off hopes, gone.

Uncle Albert Posted 21 January 2009 Posted 21 January 2009 You know because all these flids across the UK from other clubs aswell as our own fans voting, will the club be making a decent amount of moeny because off the number off hits it will recieve? Sorry if something like this has been mentioned. I think West Brom have been offered numerous sponsership's but they arent agreeing to any yet because they are holding out for better money from the sponserships. Just like West Ham did, maybe a shit sponser but its a sponser that is getting the club more money. Organisations would be fighting to sponser a football team in the football league. Just the club always holds out for the most money.

Poor comparison. The extent of that sponsorship is normally a set of shirts for the swap of the team's custom at their pub but agree with the rest of your statement. Personally City see an opportunity with a winner of a shirt - if it's Adidas better and this would outweigh any sponsorship deal (think promotion to the Premiership shirt and how many that sold). I personally reckon sponsorship deals at this level will be for insignficant amount and a blank, retro-esque shirt will make more money than that. The 125 anniversary also gives the excuse for one season shirt. I think it's fairly decided despite the internet vote - it will be blank.

Given your club make a regular habit of coming here singing "town full of Pakis" you'd have to be pretty stupid to expect the lad not to make that link.
