Hullfox Posted 24 January 2009 Posted 24 January 2009 I am no great fan of Moyles but I can listen to him for short spells. (Sorry Fez I am over 21). What pisses me off is that people who do not listen to him say he is shit at his job. How does that work? He quite clearly raised the Breakfast Shows audience dramatically over the 5/6 years he's been doing it so he is succesful. I believe that the numbers are now dropping off and he may be coming towards the end of his stint but he has done his bit and he'll move to another slot/station and do the same again. I'm not sure that I'd want to go out for a beer with him but I certainly wouldn't try and get him the sack for something that didn't affect me. Jealousy is a sorry place to be in.
Daggers Posted 24 January 2009 Posted 24 January 2009 I can not believe the USA doesn't have a town called Jealousy. It totally ruined a cracking gag.

Jealousy is a sorry place to be in. you think you can come on here spouting common sense and reasoned argument? he's a fat retarded annoying boring tosspot, who i've never listened to, and have no idea who he is, but i heard something about someone who sounds a bit like him so he can get fvcked i want him sacked, and i want that other fella, who i've never heard of, sacked too. they're all, probably, bastards, who have, probably, said something that might, probably, offend someone, who has, obviously, never done anything like that themselves in their entire lives

Exactly what I was saying about the Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand scandal, Alot of people hate them anyway, They did something wrong a few complaints were made, the media hyped it up, then loads more complaints we made - by people who didn't even listen to what happened they just disliked Ross/Brand and saw it as a way to get them the sack/in trouble. IF what Moyles did turn into people complaining and scandal the same thing would happen, people who don't even listen to his show jumping on the bandwagon and thousands (Millions? Doubt it would get millions) more complaints.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 24 January 2009 Posted 24 January 2009 Chris Moyles will always have a place in my Radio heart. However, that said his format has become slightly tired and tedious. He used to be very original often employing a shock tactic type mentality but as the years have gone by he seems to be in a rut with no new ideas. There is only so far you can take a breakfast show. Maybe move him back to the afternoon slot and give someone else a bash. But again, he does have legendary status to me, especially remembering back to his Saturday shows, they were Radio gold.

Same with me to be fair. The Saturday ones especially - build up to footy in the afternoon! I would always want the afternoon slot - early mornings are baaaaaaad.

Ultra Posted 25 January 2009 Posted 25 January 2009 As long as Moyles gets the ratings, that's what matters to the beeb. Even if he has to resort to bullying and homophobia to get them...

Hullfox Posted 25 January 2009 Posted 25 January 2009 As long as Moyles gets the ratings, that's what matters to the beeb.Even if he has to resort to bullying and homophobia to get them... Elaborate on that please Ultra. As someone has said previously, one of his team (Aled) is gay. They are good friends and I doubt that any openly gay man would befriend a homophobe.
Ultra Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 That might depend on how much Aled is being paid to be part of the Moyles entourage. I very much doubt whether Moyles would have any gay mates outside the BBC.

Sir Fynwy Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 I can't stand Moyles on the radio but obviously there are a fair few people who can, luckily I have a radio that you can tune into other stations so I don't have to listen to stuff that I don't want to
Daggers Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 The best thing about not having a car for the last month is not accidentally turning Radio 1 on in the morning.
JoeyB Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Was great stuff this morning, Peter Jones (dragons den guy) was on talking about the economy and stripey socks.
Ultra Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Story from Pink News. The fact that a leading gay group has branded Moyles as Bully of the Year shows what they really think of him. The "some of my best friends.." argument shouldn't really cut much ice. Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson tried that line with black people and were unsuccessful. Moyles shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt either. But sadly the BBC continues to be a haven for bigots and buffoons. That's why it has not only Moyles, but the equally repulsive Jeremy Clarkson and Jonathan Ross on its payroll. And it also explains why it insists on appeasing Israel by refusing to broadcast an appeal for aid to Gaza. Yet, in the face of all evidence, there are still those who somehow view the beeb as a stronghold for the left.
Daggers Posted 26 January 2009 Posted 26 January 2009 Story from Pink News. The fact that a leading gay group has branded Moyles as Bully of the Year shows what they really think of him. Maybe Pink News isn't representative of the viewpoint of most gays?
