Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Some of us who've been fans for 50 years don't get priority one tickets. I don't do bank cards or electronic payments nor do I always have the time or inclination to make a special journey down to the club. Honestly I think the priority scheme is just another example of elitism - it even shows on here sometimes the smug way some of the priority one fans talk about anyone who's not attended the game - and it certainly doesn't encourage more recent season ticket holders to feel valued. But then elitism is nothing new in football. Whenever we get to a Cup final there's suddenly all sorts of people who become fans and mysteriously acquire get tickets, including all the referees/linesmen etc who really deserve sod all because they've been more than well rewarded for their services as it is and should no way get priority over the fans of competing clubs. You've got to have some way of allocating tickets when demand outstrips supply though - you can't just dish them out to the oldest fans or the ones who've got a chip on their shoulder! To be honest, whatever you say about the atmosphere and as much as they frustrate me immensely, if "the flask army" are travelling up and down the country mostly on Tuesday nights this season it seems, they deserve the tickets most. And for younger supporters to shell out huge amounts of money on travelling to away games, surely you can forgive a smug attitude when the smaller allocations roll around.
Katy Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I have no problems with Leicester at all and wish them all the best. A far better club than Big Rons Joke club P*sh and the plastic team from go gay go mk. It is a bit sad though to see you scrabbling around in League 1 arguing about how good the likes of Fryatt and Dyer are. I remember coming to Filbert Street in the cup and seeing you thrash us off the park 4-0. None of your current players would get anywhere near your squad under Martin O'Neill. Hopefully its now onwards and upwards for you! Thanks for that, the fact that a lot of us didn't think we'd get anything out of yesterday's game says a lot about your team too. Katy? Cheeky bastard! Lisa and Walshie are both older than me.

But it's the best way of determining who should get tickets. This season we have plenty of small allocations, and I realise that I may miss out on some matches I want to go to. I was very fortunate to get tickets for yesterday, as we were given some that were sent back, but I wouldn't have begrudged anyone who went yesterday their right to do so if I hadn't gone. You need a way of delivering tickets. People like Lisa and lildave, to name a couple, should be allocated tickets first because they have made the commitment to go to most away matches the season before. That's not a criticism of people who can't go to every away match, you've met Lisa and you know she doesn't look down on other supporters. Some may well do, but that is their problem. I'm not particularly fussed if people are elitist about their support, I support my club in the way I do and if people don't like it, they don't like it. Nor am I annoyed that people who have been to away matches, on midweeks 300 miles away or when we've lost 10-in-a-row, get tickets ahead of me when we are given small allocations. What system would you have then Thrac, that would be better than the current one?
Corky Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Cheeky bastard! Lisa and Walshie are both older than me. I don't think she is actually Anyway, nice to see you back
Lillehamring Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Cheeky bastard! Lisa and Walshie are both older than me. heh - yeah but he said a 'classy' bird which ruled them out...
Corky Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 heh - yeah but he said a 'classy' bird which ruled them out... Oi, don't be 'orrible <_<

Don't post much, couldn't agree more!!
Ultra Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Hobbs has stepped up and filled some of Tunchev's shadow in central defense, Hobbs was fantastic today! Also I thought that Martin had his first very good game for us, never really looked shakey. The goal we conceaded was very unfortunate as Oakley cleared (3rd clearance!) and hit Constantine and went in TV showed it was an own goal. Gilbert got the final touch..
Katy Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I don't think she is actually Anyway, nice to see you back I think you'll find she is. How old do you think I am! heh - yeah but he said a 'classy' bird which ruled them out... Well recovered.

So how would you distribute tickets? Make sure that you get tickets for the games you want to go to, and sod those who actually go to them all? Cheeky bastard! Lisa and Walshie are both older than me. Only just, Katy, only just. <_< heh - yeah but he said a 'classy' bird which ruled them out... You haven't met me. Yet.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Nope - I was responding to the Cobbler being rude. I wasn't referring to that post. I was referring to Lovejoy's post here. Anyway, haven't we moved onto Chest Hands?

Corky Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I think you'll find she is. How old do you think I am! Er, I think you'll find she isn't actually Ask her yourself
Katy Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Er, I think you'll find she isn't actually Ask her yourself I have, a while ago cheers. She's older than me.
Corky Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I have, a while ago cheers. She's older than me. She's been lying about her age then
Katy Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 She's been lying about her age then Probably not, I think you think me and Lisa are older than we are anyway. Either way none of us are fooking middle aged!
Corky Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Probably not, I think you think me and Lisa are older than we are anyway. Either way none of us are fooking middle aged! I offer my apologies Katy, it has been comfirmed that AoWW forgot how old she was, so I'm sorry for doubting you
coolcat Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Just a bit. Couldn't here anything from the home end. But Northampton were unbelievably bad. They didn't say anything. Couldn't be sitting on yer hands...must of had them over your ears then..to say Cobblers fans wern't singing (or saying???) is pure utter bllx!
Hullfox Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Some of us who've been fans for 50 years don't get priority one tickets. Honestly I think the priority scheme is just another example of elitism - it even shows on here sometimes the smug way some of the priority one fans talk about anyone who's not attended the game What a load of bollocks that is. My old man has been a fan for 60 years. He never goes away and doesn't think he should get priority over me because I've only supported them for 40 years and travel all over to see them. It's not elitism, it's prioritisation. Tell us who here is priority one and is smug - I dare you to name names.

Is Sixfield's pretty rubbish for acoustics? I could barely hear the Northampton fans singing but Fez (posts on here, lives in Northampton) says there's usually a fair number making noise (usually in direction of the ref).

No worse acoustics than the Charlotte (hope not RIP )...Same situation as at stadiums all over - not hearing the opposition...We were singing virtually non stop West stand (South end) till the 2nd went in anyway! Apart from the less than original stag do special ditty - couldn't make out much from Leicester fans either PS..is that Kasabian guy always such a mouth..? Givin it all game before gettin legged out

As for the "smug" ones, I'm not in the habit of harking back through FoxesTalk threads and certainly don't bother to remember who made tparticular comments. They simply remain at the back of my mind as part of something that was said at the time. It doesn't even matter to me who made the comments and I would certainly not be so impolite as to name anyone because in the course of life it is so unimportant. But if you really want chapter and verse by all means search for yourself. The evidence is there to be found. The suggestion was even made once that people who hadn't been to games should be allowed to comment on them.
