AjcW Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 Ive been reading a lot on here about the fans who are quite clearly against everything that MK stand for and just wanted to know if it was a majority or minority of our fans who are going to this game to so to speak "Protest" or even not going to the game. I personally dont agree with this, they didnt ask to be turned into a plastic town so i dont feel our support on the day should be dominated by meaningless verbal assaults on their fans....thats hardly going to help the lads on the pitch is it. I know we have some amazing fans who will be 110% behind the teams cause on the day but im sure there is a small percentage that will be being less supportive and more idiotic. I dont know i might be wrong....

AjcW Posted 16 February 2009 Author Posted 16 February 2009 I agree. A lot of our fans spend the majority of the game insulting the oppisition and give little support to our team. Well i actually just meant with this game, but that may be a valid observation.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...t=0&start=0 My views on it are in there. Oh, and it's not because they're a "plastic town" with lots of roundabouts that people hate them. Just to clarify.
MPH Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 the powers in charge raped wimbledon of their team/ Wimbledon- I warmed to them as they had all effort and little skill and yet they still took the club places. successive promotions from old 4th to old first and what a story it was. Only for some money grabbing low lifes to rip that fairytale out from underneath them and throw wimbeldon onto the scrap heap called 'history' Even now it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. the chairman had no right to do that and if Milton Keynes wanted a footy club they should of gone about it like everyone else did. that they did was nothing short of scandalous.

gerrytaggart Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 Well, MK Dons they are now like it or lump it......they are heading in the right direction in my opinion, there are local lads in the squad and some promising local lads coming through the ranks too. The club is becoming a part of the community just like every other club around the country. Whatever it was that led to Wimbledon becoming MK Dons is surely not the fans fault...they are just supporting their local club like you mate (maybe some even still travel from wimbledon too eh??);-)

CosbehFox Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 Do they have fans who follow them still from wimbledon? Yes. It does look however that AFC are about to be one league away from the Football League next season.
MPH Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 Yes. It does look however that AFC are about to be one league away from the Football League next season. we should Bombard Pearson with calls to try and get the club ti play AFC winbeldon in a friendly... get them a bit of extra cash!

Wouldn't get them that much. We're not an interesting draw, they'd be better off trying to get Premiership opposition for a friendly.
AjcW Posted 16 February 2009 Author Posted 16 February 2009 ermmm....i think feeling sorry for the wimbledon fans is just silly....they stopped turning up to games...the club ran out of money...end of story.

league1 Posted 16 February 2009 Posted 16 February 2009 I feel sorry for wimbledon but if everything at the club was roses, then why did what happen happen. Yes I suppose we could of got a club a better way but it's over now and has been for 5 years. Afc are top of the conference south and look to be going up. They will get back in the football league and then it can only get better for them. They will eventually meet us and I suppose if it helps, everypne will hope they beat us 5-0. But we didn't go down there and steal the club. Infact no one did. It was put through the f.a etc. Also some wimbledon fans still come up and have no complaints.

All sounds a bit Pontius Pilate to me. But I've made my feelings on the subject known both here and on facebook so I won't bore anyone further, plus I'm a bit pisshed!!! AFC WIMBLEDON ARE THE REAL DONS!!!!!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 At the end of the day, it was wrong that Wimbledon became franchised and moved to Milton Keynes, however, the fans hardly turned out in droves to watch the original Dons did they??? Maybe the time of just having 2-3,000 fans turn up to watch one game highlighted that they probably weren't 'geared' to be fighting a top two-tier level.
Houdini Logic Posted 17 February 2009 Posted 17 February 2009 There's an excellent article in the independent today about AFC and MK Dons - it's a fairly neutral view and i suggest anyone interested goes has a read.
