Lamby Posted 18 April 2009 Posted 18 April 2009 Really feel for the Charlton fans tonight, we know how it feels.I will be keeping a close eye on them next season and I hope they can rebuild and bounce straight back, there will be some tough games down there and we have experienced them. I am sure you will be celebrating this time next year. I was soo close to being in tears at the final whistle, but I didnt. I didnt wanna do a Joe and be caught on camera . Tough games but enjoyable ones, some people are even buying a mini bus for our League One Road Trip

Just seen your end of game scenes, very grim. Get behind your team next season and you will be back.

The person next to me turned around and punched the concrete when the whistle went If they show it on the Championship, listen to our fans after the final whistle when everyones walking round. Just need to find an extra £75 from somewhere now to renew my ST. Damn me not being able to get U18 anymore.

Aslong as you keep your best(ish) players you should be fine because Charlton have enough quality to win the league just as we did, its just about having that winning mentality.
Ultra Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I don't know whether Charlton will be able to keep as many players as we did.
J.Lisemore Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I don't know whether Charlton will be able to keep as many players as we did. Maybe. I wouldn't mind Darren Ambrose by the way? assuming hes still there... And as for Southampton, well if they go down i think there pretty much ****ed. Surman, Skacel and McGoldrick are the only 3 that IMO are decent players at CCC level and think they will be sold in no time. The futures looking bleak for them if you ask me...
Lamby Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Maybe. I wouldn't mind Darren Ambrose by the way? assuming hes still there... Yeah go on then you can have fairyboy. He tried to hold me hand once

Tough games but enjoyable ones, some people are even buying a mini bus for our League One Road Trip Then you're a better man than I was last season. Unlucky Lamby. As many people have said, just enjoy the ride. There are some great away days, and possibly some derbies against Millwall and Gillingham for you too!
lou Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Sorry to see CA go down but weve proved its not the end of the world (even though it felt like it last season at Stoke) enjoy every moment of it, go to the away games if you can and keep your feet on the ground.. Youll find most clubs very welcoming and hopefully youll do well.

There are some great away days, and possibly some derbies against Millwall and Gillingham for you too! Yeah. Gillingham im defo going to, only 20-30mins on the train from my local station Sorry to see CA go down but weve proved its not the end of the world (even though it felt like it last season at Stoke) enjoy every moment of it, go to the away games if you can and keep your feet on the ground.. Youll find most clubs very welcoming and hopefully youll do well. I've got like 10 away games planned, maybe more if they are Sat 3pm k/o. Hartlepool is one of them, a 4 hour treck on the train up there though Norwich are on the verge now.Losing 1-2 at Ipswich. We could send them down last day of season
J.Lisemore Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Yeah go on then you can have fairyboy. He tried to hold me hand once Remember him coming down here when he used to play for Ipswich, he looked a good player. Not sure how old he is now but i think Charlton payed something like £2.5 million for him. Cant be that bad surely...

He's cack now, and also injury prone, he's out of contract in the summer aswell, but he also said he would like to stay
The Reverend Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 I feel a little sorry for Charlton, but their situation is different to what ours was - I dont think we deserved to go down last season - we were extremely unfortunate on the last day of the season with Southampton scoring with a last minute winner, or something along those lines. Charlton have been rooted to the foot of the Championship for what seems like a long, long time now. I think the injustice of our relegation hurt the players a lot more than we actually realise, whereas Charlton have just been gash all season and deserve to be relegated (thats not a dig at Charlton either, just the hard fact). Good luck to Charlton though. I think they'll struggle though. Certainly wont keep as many players as we did, though players like McLeod, Kandol and Burton will be useful in League One, and will hardly be sought after after this season, much like Fryatt for us this season. I like Matt Holland aswel, though he is probably past his sell by date by now. I think Charlton will need some luck. Enjoy it while you can though if you do have a good season - i've certainly enjoyed this season of promotion as opposed to the last few seasons of being mid table, slipping to lower table, til eventual relegation.
Matt Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Norwich down now? Just lost 2-0 to Reading. Playing Charlton last day of the season needing to win, but even if they do win they need to rely on Plymouth beating Barnsley.
Corky Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 I think Norwich are gone now. Not just relying on their own result, I can't see them doing enough.

Playing Charlton last day of the season needing to win, but even if they do win they need to rely on Plymouth beating Barnsley. That is the definition of squeaky bum time. It's a game I'd expect Norwich to win, but Plymouth beating Barnsley could be a different matter. Am I right in assuming that Barnsley need the win themselves to guarantee safety?

Basingstoke Fox Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Apart from Southampton and Newcastle(hopefully) I really dont like to see fans having to suffer their teams getting relegated, especially when they have paid good money to go and see a team with many hopeless players, most of which have probably given a half arsed attempt all season and its the fans that have to suffer in the end, just seems so wrong and having gone through it twice in the last 5-6 years it just reminds me of how sick I felt, ESPECIALLY last season, I felt truly sick after being relegated on the highest points total in years with Southampton (a team which I really dislike and some of their fans) and Coventry finishing just above us when we had hit the woodwork and were denied many times by the Stoke keeper, It was truly dreadful. Only reason why I feel differently about Newcastle is because many of them really are arrogant bastards who think they are 'too big/good to go down to play shitty little teams like Leicester' I would love to rub it in their faces if/when they do
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Barnsley need a point. I can see them getting it. No trip to Norfolk next season then.
Bert Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Chuffer. The three teams currently primed for relegation have all been in the Prem in the past 5 years.
BoneDog Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Forest are safe which I'm pleased about. 4 east midland derbies next season
Corky Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Norwich have seemed to mirror us. Relegation from the top division, four years of continual decline until another demotion. They can still survive, but I can't see it happening.

Any team that doesn't go up while the parachute payments are still available is in grave danger of relegation.
shen Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 They won't be the last team to mirror us either I imagine. Any team that doesn't go up while the parachute payments are still available is in grave danger of relegation. But why is that? It's not like Barnsley, Plymouth, Crystal Palace, Wednesday, Watford, Ipswich etc. have (much) better squads, and they're not exactly used to winning/getting promoted either. I can't quite figure out why the top supported clubs are finding it THAT hard to compete in that league...
