davieG Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 9 years ago Emile left LCFC for Liverpool. Nine years ago today, Emile Heskey joined the reds from Leicester City for a then club record transfer fee of £10.5 million. The big front man scored sixty goals in 223 reds appearances, helping us to claim the UEFA Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, two League Cups and the FA Charity Shield before moving to Birmingham City in May 2004 for a fee of up to £6.25m. We sure wasted that £10.5 million.

fox123 Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 If I remember rightly, wasn't that one of the last bit of businesses Martin O'Neill did before he left for Celtic?
Corky Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Blimey, was it really nine years ago? I missed his last goal for us, against Sunderland, because I decided to go to the toilet, then heard a loud cheer
StanSP Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Blimey, was it really nine years ago?I missed his last goal for us, against Sunderland, because I decided to go to the toilet, then heard a loud cheer I never go toilet during the match. It's sod's law that you'll miss something. But unlucky for you!
Corky Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I never go toilet during the match. It's sod's law that you'll miss something. But unlucky for you! Only goal I've ever missed live. So it's not too bad.
Halfsy Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I decided as a petulant child that i needed the toilet, and as Emile was receiving treatment i left SK1 . . . Upon my return my Dad said, "You just missed one of the best goals in our history son", Heskey picking up the ball just inside the Arsenal half before driving at their defence and firing low and hard past Seaman! I also missed Kevin Phillips 30-yarder at the Walkers for Southampton!
Fosse Boy Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 I remember my mum waking me up for school on that morning. She said "I've got some bad news for you", then she turned on Radio Leicester. I thought someone had freakin' died! I still cried though...
MPH Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 9 years ago Emile left LCFC for Liverpool. We sure wasted that £10.5 million. all that he ( Taylor) did still makes me feel bad even now... i just want to forget about it all!
GLC Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 9 years, bloody hell, was a massive shame when he left,

Flynny Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Heskey looks well different now... Ooh, racist. I remember arguing with my dad at the time that we should have got more for him. Bearing in mind I'd been to about three/four matches ever and watched a few more on the telly. And was 10.
renards Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 9 years ago Emile left LCFC for Liverpool. We sure wasted that £10.5 million. Thats what he cost Liverpool, Leic didn't receive all of that. Figure was between 7-8 million, Emile and John Holmes are not minted for no reason.
lookwhaticando Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Wonder if he ever comes back Yeah, as a centre-half.
maddog Posted 10 March 2009 Posted 10 March 2009 Isn't that Akinbyi not Heskey. They all look the same don't they
