davieG Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I'd have thought in their own interests of selling the maximum number of ST never mind those of the fans that they would have had extended opening hours beyond the 'normal' working day Leicester City have decided not to extend the deadline for season-ticket holders to renew their seats for next season despite the furore it caused among fans. And the club have confirmed that the early-bird prices will end on Sunday. Prices will go up by five per cent on Monday. Chairman Milan Mandaric hinted last month that the club might think again about Sunday's deadline. That has not happened but, for a deposit of £50 (£25 for under-15s), fans can secure their season ticket at the early-bird price and pay the full cost later. document.getElementById('article-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML = document.getElementById('INVarticle-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML;document.getElementById('INVarticle-detail-impact-tile').innerHTML = ''; The club are sticking to their deadline despite the controversy it has caused among supporters. The Leicester Mercury received many letters of complaint and The Fox fanzine editor Gary Silke was critical. He wrote in his Mercury column: "This frozen price is good only until March 15. Anyone who cannot find the £300-odd in the next six weeks will not benefit. They will be paying the new price which is an increase of five per cent. After April 30, the price goes up again, by 10 per cent." But Supporters Club chairman Cliff Ginnetta said of the latest news: "I think it is probably the fairest to leave it as it is now, because a lot of us have renewed." Ginnetta thought that many fans were unhappy with the way the club had handled the issue originally, but he felt that the £50 deposit scheme had dissipated the anger. A City spokesman said: "We can confirm that the deadline for the price freeze remains as Sunday, March 15. "Obviously, thousands of our supporters have already taken up the option to secure their seats for next season." Despite City's decision to stick by the deadline, the club are enjoying a boom in season-ticket sales, with 2,000 sold in the last two days. Moreover, City say they are confident of matching this season's figure of 11,500. The ticket office is open from 9am until 5pm on Monday to Saturday and 10am to 2pm on deadline Sunday.

Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Ginetta is an idiot. After reading that statement, I'm in agreement.
Flynny Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Ginetta is an idiot. Who the shit is he, really? I've never seen one thing from his mouth that's accurately reflected the mood of supporters.
davieG Posted 11 March 2009 Author Posted 11 March 2009 Ginetta is an idiot. Judging from previous news stories willy puller would be more appropriate
Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Judging from previous news stories willy puller would be more appropriate "A lot of us have renewed" apparently. One sixth of the STH's. Massive.
Daggers Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Has anyone else got the blackmail letter from Tinbergen this morning?
Guest Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Has anyone else got the blackmail letter from Tinbergen this morning? Yes.
Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Has anyone else got the blackmail letter from Tinbergen this morning? I'll check when I get home. Probably.
Alexikokopops Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Has anyone else got the blackmail letter from Tinbergen this morning? Yes. Do tell?
Craig Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 My letter wasn't even printed on a clean piece of paper. Fucking dirt all over it!
Guest Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Yes. Do tell? It is simply a quickly thrown together begging letter, telling us that we have just days left until they hike the prices up, and give our seats to illegal immigrants.

Them again? I knew they'd be behind this somewhere. The gypsies won't be far behind, I'll be bound.
Ultra Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Has anyone else got the blackmail letter from Tinbergen this morning? Yep. The money the club has spent on these (and all the emails and texts sent out in the past week) could have been better used on reducing the horrendous "admin fees" charged on those who can't pay all the money upfront.
Foxes_Trust Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 The club could still improve the options to fans by changing the first DD payment to be due 30th April and not 31st March, therefore costing fans who can't afford to pay all upfront a single DD £4 admin fee. As it stands, those who would have paid in one lump sum in early May (and could still afford to do this) would have to pay £50 this week & 50% of the balance in 2 weeks + £8 admin fee when completing payment at end of April. Shift the first DD payment to 30th April and then could pay £50 now and the entire balance 30th April + £4 admin fee This is what we are currently lobbying for
Tommeh Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Yeah got that letter, 3 texts and 2 emails in the past 3 days. Desperation from the club now that they've probably less than 5,000 st renewals. Jokers.
Aeropars Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 they keep bombarding me yet wont call me back when i email the ticket office! 2 days without a response.
Corky Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Arrived home to find this letter. My brother received one as well, why the club think we can't share the same letter I don't know, but then again, this is Leicester City we're talking about. Why did the club do it? They've done so well recently, with the shirts, that they've now lost some respect through this.

hairy Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 I think its more of a concern that the club refuse to budge on this issue. Why? Have they got to make a payment to someone by 31st March? Or does it prop up the end of year figures? I would love to know why they are sticking with this.

Or does it prop up the end of year figures? I would love to know why they are sticking with this. I keep thinking this too. Admittedly, from an accouting point of view, it will give an early indication of funds due in. But why so early? If it is causing genuine upset to loyal fans, why not extend? You only have to look at how many retail stores advertise sales that 'must end Sunday' only to then extend the deadline given that stock hasn't sold as anticipated.

Did you know that Norwich facing relegation have already sold 17000 tickets so we are not the only ones with an early deadline for bfrozen prices
AjcW Posted 11 March 2009 Posted 11 March 2009 Ginetta is an idiot. Daggers....two things....im guessing u went to see wathcmen(what did u think...amazing ey....and do u know anywere i could get ure picture as a costume for crewe??) secondly.... maybe people need reminding by that stupid merc columnist that you can renew on direct debit and therfore you dont need to find a spare three hundred in a few days, u just need the 50 quid and then three hundred over a nice comfortable period of time. I personally dont see what all the fuss is about. I think the club have done well this year with st renewals.
