poynton blue Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I personally think the Irish people are sound, if you have lived up in the North (like I did for two years), you will understand and see that it is the antoginising loyalists marching that cause majority of the shite, and the after math is the Nationalists retaliating. Those nasty Loyalist with there flutes and drums causing all the problems While those nice republicans who kill two two soldiers and one policeman who are only up for for the craic get the blame??? fooking republican murdering scum No Surrender You deluded twat
stez Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Those nasty Loyalist with there flutes and drums causing all the problemsWhile those nice republicans who kill two two soldiers and one policeman who are only up for for the craic get the blame??? fooking republican murdering scum No Surrender You deluded twat no need for the swears. there's been murdering and killing on both sides. these latest republican murders are aimed solely at forcing the government to put soldiers back on the streets to annoy the disenfranchised republican youth to join up to their pitiful little groups of murderers, who have little, to no, public support in the modern northern ireland.
NewquayFox Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Crikey folks, this started off as such a nice friendly thread and now its been turned on its head, lighten up folks i havnt seen one post slating the English, Welsh or Scots on here and if this was a Patron Saint Day of India or Pakistan day and some of the vile comments were being spouted the Mods wold have locked it. My Parents are Irish and i am proud of that but i still want England to win the World Cup & the Euros. ;0( <_<

I don't condone what they did, I was there 12 years ago when there was still a lot of shite about, and looking from an outsider it was the antagonising Unionists that caused the problems. For example, there is a place called Strabane 90% of the population that live there are Republicans, I worked there and as an English man you would think I would take a lot of shit get kicked in, rocks thrown at me , be subject to abuse... but no, they were friendly people going about there business. Come marching season, Unionists would block roads in and out of Strabane by burning out cars to create barriers. Republicans would get stones thrown through their windows, abused by the Unionists, and as I have said before... during one particular marching season I was being called English willy puller, and had other sorts of abuse hearled at me, by whom? By the Unionists that had just not half an hour earlier been carrying the English flag, wearing their Rangers shirts singing the 'No Surrender' song, marching, shouting 'Fenian Wankers' I had a friend who incidentally was Republican, she was a really nice popular person, had four kids, and was 2 months pregnant with her 5th...up until last year, when she was brutally murdered, brutally murdered by a Protestant - her so called boyfriend at the time... so not only did that murdering scumbag kill my friend, he killed my pregnant friend... Stephen Cahoon and my friend Jean Quigley who was pregnant and murdered I am not going to abuse you, like you have done me, but think on before you start spouting your shite.

Shut up. People like you are precisely why I refuse to call myself British. I'll be Welsh, I'll gladly be European, I'll be human, I'll be international. But it'll be a cold day in hell before I associate voluntarily with attitudes like yours.
MPH Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I wish St.Georges Day was celebrated like Paddy's day is. Most people would (Some probably still do) just use it as an extra piss up, but it's nowhere near as celebrated as this day is. I think St.Patrick's day is more celebrated here than St.Georges day is over here, which in truth I find quite sad. But never mind. i think the thing that bugs me is that the british flag has been hijacked by right wing extremists - if i show the Union flag im looked on as being racist. Only time you can really show the flag without people scowling at you is when some sporting event is on. :-(

And yes I despise Republicans, they killed 4 of my friends, thats my real life experience I will always hate them

Webbo Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Link. London Mayor Boris Johnson is to defy the politically correct brigade by staging a week-long festival in the capital to celebrate St George’s Day, with the red and white cross of England’s patron saint flying proudly from his City Hall offices. Personally I find all this flag waving a bit naff but if it makes some people happy good luck to them.
Finnegan Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 ****, like anyone cares whether you call yourself British or not.And yes I despise Republicans, they killed 4 of my friends, thats my real life experience I will always hate them Your friends were presumably soldiers on active duty in a conflict zone, I'm sorry they died I truly am - all war is murder on some level and it's always sickening - but you all knew the risks when you went. The bottom line is the Irish people are not to blame, small cells of extremist terrorists were. You'll struggle to find anyone in intelligent, civil society who supports the actions of the Provos even in Republican circles, the majority don't want to see death. A point enforced by the outcry on both sides of the wire over the last few weeks following the new shootings. You think there aren't Republicans who've suffered unncessesary losses? Bet you'll find a fair few fooking casualties round the Bogside who'll have a story or two. I really am sorry that you've had to suffer loss, I am, I hope I never know what it's like to have my friends shot or blown up and killed - but there's two sides to every coin and being bitter, narrow-minded and bigotted as an outcome won't put an end to shit like this.
Babylon Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Personally I find all this flag waving a bit naff but if it makes some people happy good luck to them. I think most of us do, it's not really the English way. BUT... when it gets outlawed or frowned upon to show the flag if you want to, it gets peoples backs up. So we end up having great big flag waving events just to prove a point.
