Lillehamring Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 So, as the dust settles on the whole Good Friday malarkey...LCFC 83pts + 15: 98 Pboro 82 + 12: 94 Millwall 76 + 12: 88 MK 75 + 15: 90 Leeds 72 + 15: 87 Scunny 67 + 18: 85 In other words... One win will see off Scunny. Two wins will see off Leeds and Millwall. Three wins will guarantee promotion. Four wins will guarantee the title. equally - if we win today and leeds lose - that's top 4 and millwall, and dons needing to win all their games and us to loose all ours.... very very close now
Micky Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 UPDATED MAXIMUMS -LCFC 83pts + 15: 98 Pboro 82pts + 12: 94 Millwall 76 + 12: 88 MK 75 + 15: 90 Leeds 72 + 15: 87 Scunny 67 + 18: 85 We also have to take into account that Pboro have to play millwall, so those maximums are not a possibility. One of those teams or both may lose points in that fixture, leaving us in an even better position. A draw is probably the best scenario, leaving pboro with a maximum of 92 and millwall with a maximum of 86. You could also then take into account that leics must play leeds and s****horpe......
Tilley Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 I have us six points clear of third after the Southend game. So not Mathematically done but all but because of our goal difference.
SystonFox Posted 11 April 2009 Posted 11 April 2009 the way i see it is that we need to beat hereford and leeds then get a point at southend leaving us 7 pts clear of 3rd with 2 games left. hence promotion and a party on the beach!!!!
Lillehamring Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 UPDATED MAXIMUMS - LCFC 86pts + 12: 98 Pboro 82pts + 12: 94 Millwall 76 + 12: 88 MK 75 + 15: 90 Leeds 75 + 12: 87 Scunny 67 + 18: 85 next up - dons to play rovers, boro to play millwall.... we could be promoted by monday evening - best case scenario, i'd say, is wins for us and rovers, and a draw at boro/millwall, which would give.... LCFC 89pts + 9: 98 Pboro 83pts + 9: 92 Millwall 77 + 9: 86 MK 75 + 12: 87 Leeds 75 + 9: 84...... ie promotion and 6+GD ahead of boro.

Best case scenario is surely a win for us and losses for MK Dons and Peterborough since Millwall could not possibly catch us! That said, great work from yourself and maddog throught this and the Mathematical threads - I don't post much but read very often. I'm looking forward to this finally being put to bed as I'm sure that all of the different scenarios have been hurting maddog's brain

That said, great work from yourself and maddog throught this thread - I don't post much but read very often. I'm looking forward to this finally being put to bed as I'm sure that all of the different scenarios have been hurting maddog's brain The only downside (and yes, I know I'm being picky) about these scenarios is that if we get promoted on Monday, it will happen in the evening, not at the end of our own game. I don't think they'll let us sit in the Walkers until seven pm just to celebrate the result of the Millwall / Boro game. So I think I'd be happy for us not to be promoted quite yet. I'd go for a City win on Monday, Millwall and Posh to draw, Tranmere to win (maybe they could still catch leeds) and S****horpe to win also (maybe they could too). That would leave: LCFC 89 + 9: 98pt max Posh 83 + 9: 92 Millwall 77 + 9: 86 MK Dons 78 + 12: 90 Leeds 75 + 9: 84 Tranmere 72 + 9: 81 S****horpe 70 + 15: 85 Then a win at Southend next week (or MK Dons failing to win at S****horpe) would mean we could have our promotion party on the beach...

ousefox Posted 12 April 2009 Posted 12 April 2009 When is the earliest we can be promoted as champions? I hope we have enough points to lift the trophy at the walkers vs scunny. It would piss me off if we were announced champions on the next day cos of other results.

Joe. Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 UPDATED MAXIMUMS 1. Leicester 89 + 9 = 98 2. Peterborough 82 + 12 = 94 3. MK Dons 78 + 12 = 90 4. Millwall 76 + 12 = 88 5. Leeds 75 + 9 = 84 6. Tranmere 72 + 9 = 81 Well, there it is. Two points needed (and that's assuming MK Dons win all four remaining games) for promotion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Should Millwall beat Peterborough tonight: 1. Leicester 89 + 9 = 98 2. Peterborough 82 + 9 = 91 Therefore meaning a win at Southend would guarantee both promotion and the league title.
The Doctor Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 With dons still 2 play scunny and needing to win all of their remaining games with cricket scores and hoping we only get 1 point from our remaining games i will say that we can ignore them now. win 2 more games and we have the title regardless of peterboros results. Simples

Joe. Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 If Millwall and Peterborough drew tonight, a win on Saturday would still secure the title given that we're 16 goals ahead on goal difference.
The Doctor Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Hardly. four 1-0 wins would probably be enough for them if we only got one point. yep sorry thought they were still 4th so was actually looking at milwalls GD.
NorthernFox Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Get your bucket and spades out! Championie Championie....
demon_dog Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 Don't really care now, we should end up champions now. Looking at the table I see that S****horpe could go ahead of Leeds though.
Smerklo Posted 13 April 2009 Posted 13 April 2009 So let me get this straight, We need 3 points win out of 3 games to be guaranteed champions (assuming Peterborough don't drop any points) We need 1 point out of 3 games to be guaranteed automatic promotion (assuming MK Dons don't drop any points) Is this right?
