crafty fox Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 as it stands with the possible point gap with mk dons at only 5 points with their games in hand we can only achieve mathematical promotion against southend away, although if the gap stays as it is after the whistle against leeds then posh would need to claw back 19 goals from somewhere so i think huge pitch invasion against leeds on sky

Not worth it in all honesty.
Hitesh Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Not sure about the pitch invasion but I would love to win promotion against Leeds!

Legend_in_blue Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Gaining promotion against Leeds at home would be sweet. Just to rub it in, we ought to invade Waccoe and set up an appreciation thread for ourselves!

Tommeh Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Promotion at Southend would be perfect thanks. Do it in front of the fans who have been all over. Not sat in the Kop moaning + 10,000 who would magically wake up for this one aswell.
lildave3 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I've been saying Leeds at home will be the day we get promoted for months. God I hope i'm right.
Corky Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I've been saying Leeds at home will be the day we get promoted for months. God I hope i'm right. So do I.
lildave3 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Will you be up in time for it? You're normally asleep during the day aren't you? I guess I could make a sacrifice for it.
Gaffer Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Just to rub it in, we ought to invade Waccoe and set up an appreciation thread for ourselves! i like the sound of that
foss1884 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Well, we must be the most restrained and civilised fans of a title-winning side if we do not invade the pitch on the day we clinch promotion. Forest did and they finished runners-up. West Brom do it at every opportunity they have been promoted and have i mentioned Stoke? I would be very disappointed if we did not cosidering the achievement of this season. Some fans i feel do not credit the team's efforts and exploits this year. We have bucked the trend of a relegated side in League One getting promoted at the first attempt. If it was that easy, why did Manchester City, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds and Forest fail in their quest. Come on and lets celebrate in style!
morris1234 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 bit random but oh well.... i was bored and worked out on the predictor that if mk dons lose 3 and draw 1 and peterborough lose twice then we can afford to draw every game 'till the end of the season bar 1 game which we must win.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 The amount of police present that day, all itching to arrest someone, means it's never going to happen. i have to say unfortunately you are right

But it's only League One, We're too big for League One, We are the high and mighty Leicester City who don't deserve to be in League One, We shouldn't be in this league anyway, and should be embarrassed to be in this league. -The above comment is something I have read atleast once (Well the "It's only League One, We shouldn't be in this league and should be embarrassed to be in this league - Therefore no pitch invasion) maybe more that once by some fans. I as you, would be very disappointed if there is no pitch invasion.

I dont wanna nit pick... but Man City made it back up at the first attempy Anyway, I would love to pitch invade, but I cant see it happening at filbert way. I would love us to clinch promotion at FW, becuase I probably wont get tix for saaafend or crewe. Just getting promotion is the key!

Come on and lets celebrate in style! um, we haven't actually been promoted yet--- it seems a forgone conclusion, but it's not impossible that we might finish 2nd or even have to go thru the play-offs... hopefully not, but if we do, after leading so long, i think most people will consider it an anti-climax after leading so long... as this thread suggests - we are still some way off mathematical likliness, let alone mathematical certainty. beware.

I am really taking issue with the idea of fans not supporting the idea of a pitch invasion "if" we get promoted. Yes it is not a certainty, nothing is, but we are in an enviable position and it is for us to lose. I appreciate your anxiety, but i am more perplexed by the general apathy.

I'm not sure but I thought read pre-season no team, no 'big' team at least have gone down and straight back up automatically/as champions for this league.
Jordan Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Leicester City's Magic Numbers as of March 17: For promotion: 16 For the title: 17 That's the sum of points gained by Leicester or dropped by Peterborough (for the promotion target) or MK Dons (for the title) that will clinch either promotion or the title for Leicester. You know things are looking good when the minimum point haul for Leicester is less than their average points per game for the season (albeit just slightly for the title)! as it stands with the possible point gap with mk dons at only 5 points with their games in hand we can only achieve mathematical promotion against southend away, although if the gap stays as it is after the whistle against leeds then posh would need to claw back 19 goals from somewhere so i think huge pitch invasion against leeds on sky That's if Leicester, Peterborough and MK Dons all go on the same form (and only if MK Dons win their games in hand). If Peterborough and MK Dons go through a rough spell over the next few games, Leicester can actually clinch promotion sooner.
turkish14 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 It sounds sad, but after every bout of games im loving working out which teams can still mathmatically catch us and then seeing the list get smaller... After tonights games only 2nd place to 8th place and bristol rovers(if they win all games/we lose all ours) can catch us
Bert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 I really can't see 3 teams getting 90 points! 9 points and we're there.
lildave3 Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Great read that is Jordan, the fact that we can lose 2 of our remaining games and still win the league is brilliant.
