Koke Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 We'll blame West Ham if things goes tits up. We should sue them.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Shit, Just looking at the fact Leeds have got MK Dons and us in the next few weeks anyone think even they could make the automatic places? Rubbish! It's really annoying if Leeds did that aswell because they seem to have lost loads of games and had a really shit season, yet we have only lost 3 all season, and we're still looking over our shoulders, I suppose we have drew a fair few games but I would have a guess Leeds have lost and drew more than us at a guess. Nah, we've lost fewer games than anyone in the league, but I think we've got joint 2nd place in the amount of draws we've had this season with Oldham (13 draws).. Only Swindon have drawn more games than us (14). Of the top 6, the closest team to us in terms of draws are Peterborough on 9. 1. Get a girlfriend2. Stop living with your mum lol
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 We'll finish second IMO. A bit frustrating but not the end of the world.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 We'll finish second IMO. A bit frustrating but not the end of the world. This is what I was saying to my Peterborough supporting mate.. He reckons they're still gona struggle to catch us, but thinks they'll manage it and I agreed. Of all our remaining games, I can only see us picking wins up from Carlisle, Hereford and Crewe. We'll draw with Scunny and Southend, losing to Posh and Leeds. Well, they're my predictions anyway. 11 points, leaving us on 93. Which I'd happily have taken at the start of the season.

Agree with beating Carlisle, Hereford and Crewe. But I also think we'll beat S****horpe and Leeds. And then draw at Southend and Peterboro. Whatever happens, I think we'll still end up Champions

Whatever happens, I think we'll still end up Champions Not sure about beating Leeds to be fair. They seem to be hitting form and peaking at the right time, whilst we're going backwards. Scunny at home won't be the foregone conclusion you seem to think either, seeing as we're a really dodgy looking side at the moment. If we'd maintained our double-figure points lead going into this last stretch, I'd be massively confident of ending as champions. As it stands, we've let a 15 point lead be cut to seven, and we've still to play 3 of the top 6 in our last 7 games. Nowhere near over.

But I have a gut feeling that we'll still grind out wins over Scunny and Leeds. Fans will play a big part at the home games especially. Even though the lead may be down to one point, we still need huge turnouts at these games.

The fact is that we have looked pretty ordinary for quite a while now. Howard has pulled us through a lot of games since Davies left. They're obviously completely different players but they're both players who you can rely on to dominate a game. We'll miss Howard at Peterborough, I fully expect them to win by the odd goal in three and then it's anybody's title. If we were still playing like we were at Christmas then it would be all over but we've drawn against anybody who isn't terrible and been dominated at both MK and Tranmere. It will be a decent reality check for preparation for the Championship if we get overtaken for the title though. I realise I've got "nothing to lose" feeling like this, it was the same when we went down and I was either right (hollowest victory of all time) or we stayed up. Same again here to a lesser extent. One thing I will say is that in a couple of games this season we've pulled fantastic results out of the bag when it's been least expected (Bristol Rovers at home, S****horpe away and Millwall away come to mind). I've got everything crossed that we do it on Saturday, because it would be amazing.
Koke Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 We have struggled at home lately, but we seem to battle through away from home, so despite our mediocre form of late I reckon we'll come back from London Rd with a heroic hard-fought 1-0.

maddog Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I think we will finish top even if we lose Saturday. P'boro can't keep winning forever, they are due some draws like us. I can't see Mk Dons winning both their games in hand either, they have dropped more points than us recently. P'Boro have 7 league wins in their last 8 games, their run has to come to an end, and even if they beat us Saturday, they will end up drawing or losing a couple of games before the seasons close IMO While we after 5 draws in 6 home games are due a good run to finish.

Fans will play a big part at the home games especially. Even though the lead may be down to one point, we still need huge turnouts at these games. Don't expect our fans to outsing Leeds. They're bringing a massive following for a League One game, with many set to be in the home end as well. They're always noisy on the road and it'll most likely feel like a home game for them. Our lot will be much more effective against Scunny. The fact is that we have looked pretty ordinary for quite a while now. Howard has pulled us through a lot of games since Davies left. I've got everything crossed that we do it on Saturday, because it would be amazing. This is what I'm hoping is going to happen, though to be honest I can't see it for what you said above the highlighted comment. We've been awful away at decent sides in recent weeks, and seem unable to cope with any form of sustained pressure at the minute. Without Cleverley or Howard, we have no drive or determination, and I reckon we're going to suffer as a result. We're too one-dimensional at the best of times, and we've been sussed out as the season has drawn on. Unless we find a bit of variation and a couple of the squad players put in an inspirational performance, I can see a 2 goal defeat away at Peterborough, and a battered confidence going into the crunch Easter fixtures with Leeds and Scunny.
harpendenfox Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I have a severe case of wobblitis like many on here, but, and it's a big but, if we win on Saturday, I reckon we're home and hosed.....
Matt Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 I say the title is won or lost as far as we are concerned on Saturday. If we win, We will be promoted, and will win the league. Draw, It just prelongs it, and it could go either way. Lose, We will finish second (At a push maybe even 3rd...I'm not too sure about that though).

James. Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Final table based on continuation of form from last 6 games: 1 Leicester City 92.5 2 Peterborough United 92.5 3 Millwall 90 4 Leeds United 83.64 5 S****horpe United 78.64 6 Milton Keynes Dons 78.53 7 Tranmere Rovers 73.69 8 Southend United 72 9 Colchester United 66 10 Bristol Rovers 64.5 11 Oldham Athletic 63.36 12 Walsall 63.31 13 Stockport County 61.81 14 Huddersfield Town 56.36 15 Northampton Town 54.3 16 Leyton Orient 54 17 Crewe Alexandra 52.64 18 Swindon Town 51.64 19 Carlisle United 50 20 Hartlepool United 47.69 21 Yeovil Town 41.97 22 Cheltenham Town 40.97 23 Brighton and Hove A 39.5 24 Hereford United 35
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 I like the BBC Predictor - nifty little tool. I had a go and even accounting for a little of the usual Leicester pessimism (i.e. our form is indifferent for the rest of the season, Posh only drop 4 points in the next 7 games) it comes out for me as: 1 Leicester 93 2 Pboro 92 ------------------- 3 MK Dons 90 4 Millwall 90 5 Leeds 87 6 Scvnthorpe 83 ------------------- 7 Oldham 80 Clearly it's ours to lose at the moment, it would be nice to think our home crowd would be positive and spur us on to victories in our games at the Walkers but more likely I think they'll be rather edgy. Nervous fans make for nervous team displays, so this is worrying but hopefully we have the quality to get a couple of wins to settle things sooner rather than later.
