Matt Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 LONDON (Reuters) - Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez ended speculation about his future by signing a contract extension on Wednesday that will keep him at the Premier League club until at least 2014."My heart is with Liverpool so I'm delighted to sign this new deal," the Spaniard told the club's website (www.liverpoolfc.tv). "I love the club, the fans and the city and with a club like this and supporters like this, I could never say no to staying. "I always made clear I wanted to be here for a long time and when I complete my new contract it will mean I have spent over a decade in Liverpool."
Tilley Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Phase one of the plan done. Now Benitez is staying, this paves the way for Wenger to go to Real Madrid.... ..... Then Jose Mourinho will take over at the Emirates. !
Bert Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Yay. Another boring Media hyped story is put to bed, thank fook.
welck12 Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Another five years of inane rambling. And another 5 years of choking in the league
Jon the Hat Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Yeah they will. Fergie ain't gonna last that long. Liverpool will continue to strengthen. They only blew it this year becuase their world class players were injured. Add a couple more and I can see them winning it.
TrickyTrev Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Benetiz has done a great job. They were a total mess when he took over and they are now the 2nd best side in Europe with class all over the pitch. They are surely the best placed side to challenge Utd in the coming seasons, if Torres had not been injured all season they would be top right now. Not that I think this season is all over. You also have to remember when he first came in they had a hard time attracting top players, I don't that can be said to be the case now. If they could get in a player to play on the right that is better that Kuyt, who can also act as cover for the centre forward position, then they'll be a much stronger side. I am suprised they have not been trying to get Tevez. A player like that and I'd make them favorites next season.

And as it stands Liverpool are ranked the best team in Europe on the old points system.
Samilktray Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Cant see them winning the league still thankfully.
Koke Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 I'm glad this has been put to bed, so we won't hear more of this boring contract malarkey bollocks.
