leftsideoverhere Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I was there , but what did hayles get booked for? Falling over? That's what it looked like from where I was sitting.
Asha Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Was quite a comedy moment near where I was in K. The bloke in front of me and his mate were going slightly over the top, I thought, with frustration...persistantly shouting stuff like 'Fryatt fcuk off you're shit....Oakley you're a cnut...what the fcuk is this?', leading to the small woman in front of him to turn round and say something like 'you're a right dickhead twat'. He never said anything for the rest of the game. Quality.
leftsideoverhere Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I thought at the start of the game we made abit of noise tbh. Still crap, but better than usual. I was quite impressed by the 'back of SK4' gang, although the moaning bastards sat on all four sides of us really got on my tits. "Oh no" and "Wakey wakey" all game long... I know we were bad, but isn't the point of being a supporter to, you know, support the team? Moaning at the ref and the complaining about their decisions isn't enough by itself. We're moving back to SK4 for the Carlisle game, and no mistake. "We're 1-0 down, who gives a fook, we're Leicester boys and we're going up!" for a solid fifteen minutes was pretty good, I thought. Just a fooking tragedy shame that the rest of the kop would rather moan...
Lillehamring Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 over the last six games p'boro and millwall have picked up, on average, a point a game on us - which has required them to wim 5 out of 6 games, even if they can sustain this for the final games, assuming we can sustain our current form would mean that they would still not catch. whilst by all accounts we were not great today, it's not quite as shocking as it might appear. naturally the posh game is huge, but the pressure is still really on them, a draw will mean that they still have to win most of their games...
BlabyFox Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Hayles was shit but you can't blame him really, he tries hard and is two feet to small to flick on the hoofs from the defenders. Without Howard is was just air tennis back and forth with no big guy to hold it up or flick it on. I think we need to buy another target man for championship survival next season. BUT WHY do the defenders miss out midfield and just hit it long upfield when fryatt and hayles don't have a chance against the big colchester defenders?
Guest Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 What a twat he was. Glad I wasn't the only one to think that, as everyone around me seemed to think he was great! And with respect to JoeyB's post, can someone tell us what was going on in the Family Stand too? It was the only interesting thing that seemed to happen today.

It was the only interesting thing that seemed to happen today. What confused me about the whole thing was that the stewards were so slow to react to anything that he could easily have just jumped over the advertising, back into the crowd and he wouldnt have been thrown out and got the inevitable ban that he will receive. The timid walk over to the elderly steward was just pathetic.
BlabyFox Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Now I'm all for respecting the officials () but the refs performance today was just appauling. Its so hard to respect the referee when they give ridiculous decisions away - i was on my feet swearing multiple times today and that rarely happens. Colchesters free kick goal WASN'T a free kick. What did the ref have against Hayles? He refused to give him a free kick, and he penalised him repeatadly when he won the ball. These refs are ruining football.Football is becoming a non-contact sport especially when it comes to keepers ''being fowled' Rant over
Pst Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I agree mate, the ref was woeful, but what can we do? Some shocking decisions.
Dan Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Well it was just so predictable, I knew we would take the lazy option by lumping it up the small man. All the people at school criticising my 1-1 prediction with a Mark Yeates free kick for them will shut up now .
FilboFox Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 A combination of our poor lobbing of the ball forward, the useless ref and one of his linesmen all contributed to us not being able to win this... we should have though.

Alf Bentley Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 The big problem today, not for the first time this season, was losing the battle in central midfield. I'd only blame this partly on Oakley and King (though both were ineffectual verging on poor). The real problem is a lack of balance. Gradel and Dyer were 2 of of our better players today but they are wide players, not all-round midfielders. In which case, unless a 2-man central midfield is exceptionally energetic and mentally and physically quick, then a good opposing midfield will over-run them. Colchester had a good midfield, closed down well and then used possession well. I'd like to see Berner in there next week as part of a three-man central midfield (though who'd be the third man with Oakley if King is on international duty?). Amid all the nostalgia for Davies, it's sometimes forgotten that some of our best performances were with Berner in midfield as he has energy, acceleration and mobility, though his passing blows hot and cold. Howard was not only missed up front. He also drops deeps and links well with the central midfielders, providing more midfield options. Next week could well be a defeat at this rate...though maybe Dyer or Gradel will do something on the counter-attack...
syston_fox Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Maybe in a few years! Doing my GCSEs at present. Sounds like you are over qualified to be a referee then!
Thracian Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Every time an official makes a decision it will either be right or wrong. So even with most bad officials there's a good chance that half the decisions will be right. Sadly, today was an exception!
Guest Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 We've had crap refs all season; is there any particular reason why today's can't be discussed in the post-match thread? I'll give it 5 minutes before merging.....
Koke Posted 21 March 2009 Author Posted 21 March 2009 I hope Cleverley's injury isn't really bad. Creativity wise and work-rate, he's top notch. We gonna need him for Posh.
Matt Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Just don't shoot a referee, If your going to shoot anyone shoot a player, because without referee's there will be no game, fook the players. Ain't that right DB11. Fair enough you are on the 'side' of referee's and you are going to stick up for them, but how can you justify today's referee? How can you not judge, moan, criticize him?
mmarkie Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Can we sign the trialist player? Mickey Demetrio is it? he's a tall lad.
FilboFox Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I have to say that Hayles is absolute crap... can't believe, when we have the likes of Chambers and Dickov in the team, that we still play him... Ashley would be WAY more up for it than that sack of sh*t! He rarely chased anything down, couldn't jump more than a few cm off the ground and generally was absolutely no help to the team today at all. Why oh why did Pearson take Maxi off today? He was the only one doing anything down that right hand side... he should have taken Hayles off and then it would have been Dickov and Fryatt up front which would have been a far more potent attack force at the end. If he desperately wanted to play 3 up front, why take off the best winger of the game!?! Why not remove King who wasn't particularly effective today... On a more positive note, I thought Morrison was pretty good today... made some good challenges and stopped Colchester on a number of occasions where they looked likely to score. Aside from that, there wasn't much else that went right. Fryatt was pretty good... got stuck in and chased down stuff which is always good to see... All that said, it's 1 more point towards promotion and we are still 7 points clear at the top and MK Dons drew as well... not doing too badly really... though if we play like we did today next season, we'll be coming straight back down. Very poor.
Daggers Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 We've had crap refs all season; is there any particular reason why today's can't be discussed in the post-match thread?I'll give it 5 minutes before merging..... Delete it. Delete everything.

If he's dislocated his shoulder like they suspect then slim to no chance of him being around next week or for his England game either sadly! Gutted for him if that is the case as he's said in the interviews recentley how much the call up meant to him!
Fosse Boy Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Anyone know what cracked off in the family end? I was thinking that too. A couple of minutes later a team of stewards ran out through one of the exits in the West Stand. Must be connected.
