skinnydipper Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Agreed, although lets not get carried away with the word "better".He was one of the few players that showed enthusiasm and a desire to spread the ball properly, dead balls were dreadful though. Better i.e not as crap as some of the others Thought Gradel was ok too.
davieG Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I thought he was non-existent in the first but one of the better players in the second half, considering how, yet again how poorly we played don't take that as any sort of recommendation.

Who gives a toss who was one of our better players, the fact is they all were shit apart from the keeper! If Millwall win their game in hand Tuesday at home to Colchester, IF IF IF IF IF We will only be 6 points clear of 3rd. But a win against Carlisle will certainly settle the nerves. The good news is with Tranmere drawing, we are MATHIMATICALLY GURANTEED A PLAYOFF PLACE, even if we lose our last 6 games. So its either Champions, promotion, or a playoff place with 6 games left, i would have taken that at the start of the season! Playoff place sealed.

I never said he was one of our better players and I was replying to the originator of this thread where as your reply has sod all to do with this thread and I'm quite capable of working it out the permutations.

Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 He needed King next to him- Berner was virtually anonymous.
JoeyB Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Thought he was good first half. I thought he was one of our better players, tbh Loada bollox mate,Oakley was one of our better players, were you drunk? He was good compared to others. He does need to work on his set pieces. Agree with all of them He was one of our better players today, if not at least the best outfield player.
lildave3 Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Started well, looked more fired up for this game than i've ever seen before tbh. Certainly nowhere near the worst out there. I'm looking at you Paul, you moaning scottish penis.
Fosse Boy Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 agree with you his set piece's are a joke .................as for captain :crylaugh: You mean our set pieces our a joke. We're not a set piece team anymore. We need to pass it along the ground and work it into the box, which we didn't do today. Like everyone else, I thought Oakley was one of our better players today though.
Daggers Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 And so another numbnut has an opinion about a game he obviously wasn't watching. Woohoo.
Mikey Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Thought he was one of our better players. Should leave set pieces to Max though.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 All our players played shit today, expect for Warner.Just an awful performance. He scares the shit out of me sometimes!! He actually reminds me of that goalkeeper off of mean machine, makes me laugh and he is bloody mental .

Daggers man, why is it that I can't have an opinion?! I wasn't looking for 100% agreement - as it is I have almost 100% disagreement (which I wasn't expecting) - all I'm doing is creating debate. Oakley was poor. I'm not the only one who's said it. Maybe I shouldn't have singled him out, but he gave the ball away more times than I care to remember. Can I just ask whether everyone else was watching a game where Oakley ran the midfield?!
Thracian Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 There were too many passengers in the side today. Crap setpieces apart, I don't think Oakley played particularly badly - certainly not as badly as Berner, Dickov or Dyer. The difference between Oakley and others who disappointed was that Oakley was seen to play indifferently. He never stopped trying. But although he saw plenty of the ball he so often made the wrong decisions - not least because Berner, Fryatt, Dickov and others seemed to offer so little support and so few options. Gradel was the one team-mate I felt sorry for because Oakley just wouldn't feed him the ball despite the youngster taking up some excellent positions.

I've gathered you don't necessarily get to all the away games - but you're spot on. The one thing I'd give Oakley credit for was that he did at least go over and take that ridiculous free kick - there was about 15 minutes where he looked like he wanted it but he did nothing with the ball when he did get it. I would mitigate the above by saying that it was more his lack of invention, but others didn't help - as you say though, Gradel took up some excellent positions.

Yes I was at the game and it's a while now since I've missed an away day, more's the pity!
Corky Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Yes I was at the game and it's a while now since I've missed an away day, more's the pity! C'mon Thrac, that was a bad performance, but they'v been very few and far between on the road this season.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Dear Mr Oakley,Today I attended a football match between Leicester City and Peterborough United. As the captain of the former team, one would have expected you to be playing a significant role in the game. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when you forgot to turn up for the game! There was a guy wearing an armband, but I believe that he was watching the game. Indeed at one point he moved Max Gradel, our set piece taker and shanked the ball into the first defender. Matthew, as captain of Leicester, how could you let this person on the pitch?! You should have removed him from the pitch at the first opportunity - he could have been a threat to poor Max. Please turn up next time, I pay a lot of money to see you play, the least you could do is hop on the bus with the rest of the team. Yours, Bernie just an observation, but this is a totally stupid and unhelpful thread. he was not the worst player. you, mr ttfn, are a tit.
Guest ttfn Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 just an observation, but this is a totally stupid and unhelpful thread. he was not the worst player. you, mr ttfn, are a tit. Sorry I forgot how 'helpful' all the other threads are. Give me some cold, hard examples of Oakley performing today and fine, I'll admit I'm wrong. But he is the captain of this team and was non-existent. In my opinion, of course
Sly Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I think to sum this up, Oakley wasn't that bad today, he tried, he was one of the better Leicester players. He just wasn't that great either. He tried to make things happen but he isn't going to carry the team. If everyone else is static, who is he going to pass the ball to? I thought both teams made an average attempt to play football and the what ever people say, the conditions didn't help. One question, with the dire, dire, dire conditions ................. WHY THE HELL DO WE BOOT THE BALL IN THE FRIGGIN AIR!!
Thracian Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 C'mon Thrac, that was a bad performance, but they'v been very few and far between on the road this season. Tranmere was pretty grim.
